My father, a Marine Corps fighter pilot, once told me the best part of flying was getting down on the deck going fast as possible (w/in reason). I flew performance sailplanes and understood his comment the first time I did a high speed low approach (110 knots @ 3 meters) with a 20 meter wingspan on the aircraft.
I've been lucky enough to go low level over Wales on the way down to the South Coast in the back seat of a Hawk (on my 26th birthday) as a civilian and it was one of the most memorable days of my life......will never by forgotten, especially as I managed to get a few selfies!
Great vid. Il never forget me n a mate mounting biking about 20yrs ago we got abit lost on way to Bath, came out of a wooded area ended up on the edge a farmers field over looking a small valley,as we stopped to catch our breath n a drink and admire the view a Harrier came screaming past us just below our feet level. Looked like they were on a joy ride toying with the electric pylons, couldnt of timed it better :)
Brilliant footage. We were on holiday in North Wales a few years ago driving over the bridge in Beddgelert one flew over us thought the bridge was collapsing.. As both my parents were in the RAF was fantastic.
Want to join the RAF. Great video of spectacular jets shame there are some gone but the Tornado and Eurofighter are amazing and the Eurofighter one of the best! Proud to be British always!
Skill, audacity, capability, to ignore at all what is the meaning of the word fear, all of it making a compact wonder with those incredible air machines.
***** The reason it only put's out 20,000lbs is cos that's all it needs. It's purpose built from light weight materials to perform a specific function. Though what that function is now is debatable.
***** F35 only has one engine. EF has 2. 2 x 20,000 = 40,000. You do the 'math'. F35 is also a big fat lump. Hornet has 2 x 22,000 - and needs it, it's TWICE the weight of an EF. F15 - more than twice the weight. F22 - more than twice the weight. If you still don't get it - Google 'Power to weight ratio'. ( ;
Plus the Typhoon is not as heavy and is a Mach 2 aircraft compared to the F-35 and F-22 which are both Mach 1 aircraft. In a recent Red Flag exercise the Typhoon ate the lunch of the F-22.
Steven Thornton The F-22 is a MACH 2+ aircraft also.. not a Mach 1.. The one fighter id like to see fly threw this area is an F-16C... Now thats the real hotrod of the sky!!
LOL, always happens, there wasn't a plane here that was remotely 4th generation, all relatively 20 year old design or more. There is no comparison ever with 'B' F22 & F35 technology, the US (with it's UK partner) is 6th / moving towards 7th generation. Most of the the planes in this video were the planes from yesteryear, their technology would never survive, I hear the Typhoon is fairly advanced, but honestly its design is flawed, it's designed like the jets were designed in the mid to late 80's, it's not stealth (and stealth is slowly becoming mature in technology). The future of jet design eliminates front and back wings, rocket launchers etc., the Typhoon has too many components designed outside of the plane and they are not hidden when flying, hinders performance, maneuvering and can easily be picked up on radar. Just look at the 'B' stealth design, you know the planes that look like alien spaceships, that is the future. Over 50 years ago, we landed on another planet, we just had a space plane land last week that was flying in space for years, there is no valid argument here, the technology is just too far ahead..
Used to see this a lot in Wales and also the Lake District. Would be wierd to be looking down on the pilots as they flew by. I grew up in the South East of England (Essex, Cambridgehsire, and Suffolk), and it was common to hear aircraft breaking the sound barrier as it was allowed back then (but high altitude I think, but if I am wrong feel free to correct me). The planes were the English Electric Lighting capable of mach 2, probably operated out of RAF Coltishall. Canberras were also common at that time but I think they needed to dive to break the sound barrier. But I loved that sound of silence, loud crack/boom (hence the name Lightning), then the sound of jets, and it was already way past you. You learned to look way ahead of the sound or you would miss the plane. Anyway, enjoyed this vid.
I have stood on the parapets of Dolwyddellan Castle and watched in awe as RAF Typhoon fighters skimmed the floor of the Lledr River valley near Betws-y-Coed. How strange it felt to be atop a 1000-year-old structure while 21st century aircraft appeared for an instant and then were gone - the deafening roar of their jet engines echoing and reechoing throughout the valley.
These pilots have the best job in the World providing they are not in a combat area. We have a multitude of Helicopters, Heavy Transports, Chinooks and Hornets come over our place in Bushland Beach Far North Queensland in Australia almost every day as Townsville RAAF Base is just down the road, nothing as special as this but it sure is fun for us Big Kids.
Hi there all I lived in the welsh mountains and loved fishing I give up after falling in the rivers when these past lol they made me jump out of my skin
Boy thats flying. From a old granddad stuck here on the dirt it is sure exciting to watch. Wonder what that C130 was doing making a right turn when every one else pulls hard left between that pass. Great video and great flying, just a walk in the park for these fellows. Dave.
The sound of the typhoon is amazing!
Love the howling sound of the typhoons engines , such a distinct sound and boy the sound out the tailpipe deafening. Great aircraft .
Those pilots are so skilled. Watching them is an absolute pleasure.
Aw man, that sound of the low whistle of the air intakes on the Typhoon approaching are what wet dreams are made of!
Superb footage, love the typhoon going vertical with afterburners on.
2:56 by far the most exciting
nah 3:40

The typhoons callsign. Nightmare one one. Awesome.
Glad you kept the sound as it was not turning it down as it gives more pleasure to watch
I love the way the Hawk T2 is the training Jet, it makes the Pilot training in the RAF great!
We have Typhoons and Tornados in the skies above our house in the Highlands of Scotland...love it!! Especially the howl from the Typhoons.
This is so good, I watched it twice.
Awesome video...want to go and see it in for real know haha.
great video spud and it's great to hear the communication between the aircraft and tower, keep up the great work!!
Wish I was there. Seeing planes from above. Beautiful video. Thanks...
Beautifully filmed. great lighting. Wales looks so good when the sun shines.
I've seen this mountain flying whilst having holiday in Wales, couple of years ago. Awesome to see.
My oh my ... that Typhoon, utterly awesome. Great Video.
wow what a vid how can anyone not like this... the Tornado going through with wings swept back... heaven!!
+andrew g Thanks
+andrew g
I appreciate it.
We all should.
The 'I Love Lucy' crowd that has kept up appreciates it.
+andrew g skills n bravery out of heaven YES
With you there. I have a real soft spot for the tornado, lovely old jets they are.
i Think, the most person dislike this, because it are fighters, and they are made for killing people. but I'm a aviation fan and so I like this!
Definitely surprised by the Hawk, that little guy sounds badass!
Opening with the Provost! I remember a display team of these in the sixties, always had an affection for them.
I also "trained" on them - my first Airfix model, if you can imagine a mess of grey plastic and polystyrene glue.
Good to see the Hercs joining the action.
Very cool thanks Stu!

excellent thanks for sharing this. beautiful country side.magnificient just as I remember it.
Brilliant video. I know the tornados kinda old now, but it still looks a beast flying in low and fast.
It just LOOKS so fast doesn't it , as it goes by ? I think it's that huge swept fin . Wales UK
The countryside is stunning. I like aircraft, but thankfully they don't do this every day. Truly a lovely place.
I was on a hill in Wales one day when one of those jets flew over and made me fall over with the wind it had created. it was blimmin AWESOME!
Excellent Vantage Point for viewing an Air Show. Especially with the fast Jets. Yeehaw.
I'd love to sit there for a while and watch this!
Awesome video thanks, the work horse of the sky C130 looked so graceful and to think my bro jumped out the back of them. Brilliant

This is one place I have to go to before I die! These pilots look like they're practicing for the Death Star run!

Cheeky comment : F.N.Q. doesn’t start until you cross over the Cardwell Range coming into Cardwell. YOU live in North Queensland. Merry Christmas.
Man, I wanna go there for a vacation. Mach Loop + 600mm f/4 seems like heaven for a spotter.
3:35 unbelievable sound, all hell broke loose!
one of those jets flew low over my boat while I sailed through a channel in Scotland - never saw him coming - got my attention :-)
GREAT VIDEO!
Great video. Did pass you a couple of times on my home from work as you were making your way up on bike. Keep up the good work.
It was hard going up those hills with the buggy on the back but I enjoyed every minute of it.
Impressive. I'd like to take a A-10 through that valley and strafe mountain goats. That would rock.
USA. Nice. Now i know what they doing when they fly over my house so low. Great to see.
Excellent
