    Great video on adding a spindle.
    I would recommend pulling the slack out of the return line that is connected to the brass fitting so that when the lid is replaced, it doesn't have the possibility of kinking the hose. See it a lot on aquarium setups.
    When I tram, I use old feeler gauges and leave the correct one in place.

    ☆☆ Concerning the PwnCNC Plug and Play VFD-Enclosure/Spindle System for the Longmill ☆☆
    One person I'd like to give credit to is Joe Lazzara. He ordered a PwnCNC VFD-Enclosure/Spindle System for his Longmill and once it arrived we realized that the Longboard uses a digital output signal vs analog. Joe worked with the PwnCNC support team as we came up with a solution. Fortunately we finally received a Longboard, worked out a digital to analog converter, designed a neat (JOE LIKES NEAT!!!) little 3d printed case and got everything figured out in the Universal G-Code Sender. This would have been a lot harder without someone with a actual machine setup and being real world tested in real time. Joe was a huge help and has become a great friends to PwnCNC and myself personally!! ~ Clinton ~

      Thanks Clinton!! I am so happy that I was able to be a part of this and to have helped you guys.
      It was very exciting, and you guys took the time and made the effort to really make the spindle work the way I wanted it to and that it was working properly. I love the fact you, Daniel and I were on the same page!!
      We worked pretty extensively together to make this happen with a lot of phone and video calls.
      Now, all Longmill owners can add this spindle to their machines and carve with some peace and quiet lol.
      I am truly grateful for everything you guys do for the Longmill and CNC Community, and I'm so happy that we've all become friends.
      You guys are all fantastic and go above and beyond to make this hobby so much more enjoyable.
      Thank you again.

    Very helpful, I don't have a LongMill and didn't choose the liquid cooling model. I already have the PwnCNC spindle. I am waiting for larger 80MM mount for my CNC. But, can use several ideas from the video. I have been successful with tramming my Makita with a framing square, but think I will make the tramming tool you are using.

    I love the organic content it gives one a good idea of what to expect when upgrading. I am wondering about dust collection and how will speeds and feeds vary for tooling if upgrading from Makita. ...will I need to reinstall all my tool data?

      @IDCWoodcraft  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mike, thanks brother I'm glad you enjoyed it! If you end up deciding to upgrade, you won't need to change the database perse, but I recommend downloading the IDC Woodcraft app and then you'll be able to adjust the setting (router/spindle and material) for your projects to be more accurate. This way you'll be able to tweak the numbers as needed!

    Garrett, When you make the settings needed on the vfd and in gsender, do you have to repeat those entries on every project or is all that stored and project files get added to what you the changes you made to gsender? hope that makes sense?

    When upgrading to a spindle router, do you need to upgrade your stepper motors to handle the added weight of the spindle?

    • @IDCWoodcraft
      @IDCWoodcraft  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      roberthunt3106, that depends on your machine brother! Your best bet is to reach out to your machine manufacture on that one!

    • @IDCWoodcraft
      @IDCWoodcraft  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      mrwonk, not 100% sure on that one brother! Your best bet is to reach out to the Spindle company like PWNCNC on that one. They should be able to suggest a spindle that fits your ATC needs.

    • @mrwonk
      @mrwonk 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@IDCWoodcraftOh, I was just curious if you got the upgrade on your spindle. That is one of the big advantages in the spindle upgrade is being to have the tool auto-change happen so you can program the entire job with multiple bits upfront and let the machine handle the change-over (or so it appears to someone learning before I buy my CNC) :)

  • @ricktanguay2310
    @ricktanguay2310 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi Garrett, I bought the Longmill mk2 on your recommendation and it came with the 65mm Makita router. I want to upgrade to the 1.5kw 65mm spindle. Do you think I can use my existing magnetic dustboot and use my existing mounting bracket for the new spindle. PWN did not have any info on the fit.

    • @IDCWoodcraft
      @IDCWoodcraft  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      ricktanguay, that is a tricky one to answer over comments brother. Depending upon the design of the dust boot you may still be able to use it. Your best bet is to reach out to PWNCNC to determine if it will still work with the new spindle you are considering. Here is a link to reach out: support.pwncnc.com/new/?ref=idcwoodcraft

    I didn't like using windshield washer solution so I went back temporarily to distilled water until I found a alternative. Within a month I didn't have freezing problems but I did start to have alge buildup in the lines. I thought I had a sealed bucket system but I did get some sawdust which apparently started to grow and restrict water flow. I did put a flow meter which made it obvious I was losing flow. I prefer my pump to run all the time so I could see right away. I went back to windshield washer solution and I just make sure the dogs cant get to any spills

    • @bmmacoh3387
      @bmmacoh3387 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you put a piece of copper in the water it will never grow algae. FYI.

    Does my settings in Vetric regarding spindle speeds now get added to the G Code and my spindle runs at the speed that was set when I picked my bit?

    • @hamanjam
      @hamanjam 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Your tool database is fine. What you will want to do is update your post processor to include a delay. Find the line where your post processor sets the speed. You'll see is as "S" and your RPM along with a "M3" which sets the rotation to clockwise. You'll want to add a "G4P" command and how many seconds you want to delay. I found that 4 seconds is usually enough so I would add "G4P4" to the end of the speed command in thr post processor. If you're using gSender, there is an option to add a delay if it doesn't exist but they add G4P1 which means a 1 second delay which may not be enough

    • @IDCWoodcraft
      @IDCWoodcraft  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      bkgoddard, the response from hamanjam is completely correct brother! You will need to set up your post processor for things to work properly. If you are having troubles, it is best that you reach out to your machine manufacturer regarding the best way to do this.

    Beware, the VFD should be as far as possible from your CNC control electronics because it produces LOTS of EMIs that will mess with your control board and stepper motors. The spot you've chosen is actually not good at all when you take that into account.
