  • Part 1 - We react to the biggest festival in India called the Kumbh Mela. The phenomenal Documentary KUMBH - Eternal Journey of Indian Civilisation was produced by India Inspires Foundation Presents. The Most awaited documentary on Kumbh Mela. For the first time showcasing the Kumbh Mela from Indian perspective, with the help of great scholars of Indian civilisation. The film unfolds spiritual, cultural and social importance of the Kumbh Mela and highlights its great relevance for the modern world.
Kumbh Mela History. Kumbha Mela is a major pilgrimage and festival in Hinduism. It is celebrated in a cycle of approximately 12 years, to celebrate every revolution Brihaspati (Jupiter) completes, at four river-bank pilgrimage sites: Allahabad (Ganges-Yamuna-Sarasvati rivers confluence), Haridwar (Ganges), Nashik (Godavari), and Ujjain (Shipra). The festival is marked by a ritual dip in the waters, but it is also a celebration of community commerce with numerous fairs, education, religious discourses by saints, mass gatherings of monks , and entertainment spectacle. The seekers believe that bathing in these rivers is a means to prāyaścitta (atonement, penance) for past mistakes, and that it cleanses them of their sins.

I just want to clearify that there is no conflict in krishna and shiva devotees at all. We all love krishna and shiva and every deities equally. All Indians celebrate Mahashivratri and janmashtami together. This conflict is very rare and between very few people because I think they grounded themselves so much with there deities. But as an Indian i want to clarify if you visit any street and ask anyone there is no conflict between such as shiva and vishnu devotes. In every scriptures and drama you will find shiva worshipping vishnu and vishnu worshipping shiva. There is no such debate in common.

    You can understand from this:
Science discovered roughly 100 yrs ago that the orbital period of Jupitor is 11.862 years and it is the main & the largest planet in our solar system.
Jupiter is called as vrihaspati, the guru or teacher of gods in heaven and he's also the main planet in hindu zodiac sign.
The dates of kumbh mela based upon hindu celestial or zodiac calender. And this is happening from ancient times. It falls in every 12 years. And it's completely based upon the movement of planets, mainly vrihaspati i.e. Jupiter.
Even if we see it from the POV of modern Science, how come our ancestors so precisely calculated the orbital movement of a planet which is so far away when there was no technology or NASA is amazing.
Our ancient Science is our sanatan dharm which calculated the distance of earth from moon, existence of all 9 planets, the shape of earth, the universe, planetary motions, accurate predictions of eclipse & full moon etc long time before modern Science.

The Documentary should have mentioned why Kumbh Mela and especially Maha Kumbh Mela which is celebrated once in 12 years ( Time taken for Jupiter to go around the sun which means a Jupiter year) Jupiter protects the earth from asteroids and comets . In Hinduism we are revering Jupiter (Guru ) for this reason and more .This has been happening for hundreds or thousands of years as part of Maha Kumbh Mela or Kumbh Mela (every 3 years once in each different places mentioned). Today NASA or some other scientists are telling us the same about Jupiter. Still India and Hinduism is very humble about it.

is considered to be held once in the lifetime of the Hindus. It comes once in every 144 years after 12 Purna Kumbh Melas. Maha Kumbh is held only in Prayagraj. It was last held in 2013 and now will be held 144 years later. It is believed that taking a dip in the Ganges during Maha Kumbh; one can relieve themselves and their ancestors back to the eighty-eighth generations from all evils and sins. Good News, Purna Kumbh Mela ( held gap of 12 years) will be in year 2025 (14thJan - 26th Feb) in prayagraj city.

KUMBH FACTS :- Kumbh Mela (Festival) is an astrological event based on the planetary motion of Jupiter (Planet governing the Intellect/Spirituality/Consciousness). Our ancient seekers knew that it takes 12 years for Jupiter to complete one orbit around the sun and the culmination of this orbit aligning with the Sun and the Moon creates the most powerful yog (alignment) for increasing consciousness on earth. Taking advantage of this confluence of highest spiritual energy confluence our ancient seers, sages (Saints) and rishi's (scientists) calculated and informed our society in ancient times to congregate at the 4 hot spots where Amrit (nectar (of immortality)) fell namely - Haridwar in the state of Uttarakhand, Prayag (erstwhile called Allahabad) in the state of Uttar Pradesh both in the north, Ujjain in the state of Madhya Pradesh i.e. Central India and Nasik in the state of Maharashtra in Western India . However, the half yearly Kumbh every 6 years is of not much spiritual significance.
Hence no formal invites for Kumbh, people know the general times of the celestial event and congregate to carry on the tradition what our ancestors have sustained for thousands of years without a break.
As per NASA this event is visible from space and the last full Kumbh had a gathering of over 150 million people as per the Government of India data.
Kumbh is an auspicious period for gathering of the family man (people immersed in daily material life), the ascetic (one who has renounced material life), the agnostic, the preacher/guru ( one who has devoted his/her life to spreading the Sanatana Traditions for the larger good of humanity) come partake in it and take away what you like. Its a mind boggling melting pot of diversity of human psychology coming around to single minded pursuit of true inner self awakening/realization/consciousness.
Har Har Mahadev (God Shiva), Jai Sri Krishna, Jai Adi (First/Oldest) Shakti (Feminine Energy/Goddess). Satya Sanatan Ki Jai.

I feel a bit sad for those amazing beings, those sadhus, who live in caves, jungles etc. Because people don't let them have their Kumbh properly. Because the normal people themselves, some of whom are not interested in spirituality but just like to be part of the hype and brag about it to others, make the whole place too crowded. I would urge people to only go if you intrinsically really feel like you should. It's not a tourist attraction.

I remember my maternal Grandfather speaking of his Kumbhmela journey in Prayagraj. He was the disciple of a great sage named Bhagwatdas Bapu who was a ramanandi saint and was the head of Saurashtra Sadhu Samaj. In Kumbhamela, Bapu had organised a Bhandara in the kumbhmela where food was served to any yatri who visited the Mandapam. My Grandfather decuded to perform the seva for maintaining the accounts for rations and donations. However the great Sage asked him for not to do this. He said that whatever the donations come, let them be in a box, withdraw whatever amount which is needed for the ration rather than maintaining the accounts. It was surprising to my grandfather that how did so much of Money emerged out from a single Daan peti or box with no so much of donations, enough for feeding thousands of people in a day. He was such a great saint that once my grandfather witnessed him levitating in air in his samadhi dasha or highest meditating state.

Just wanted to add one point: There is no difference between Lord Siva, Vishnu and Brahma. Lord Siva's atma is Vishnu. And Lord Vishnu's atma is Siva.

This document did not cover the most important other than what it talked in large is Agori sadhus …. They are seen only during kumbh …. Some are there always but one who dedicate in spiritual studies are only see and accessible during this time… only have first way towards kumbh and bath, checkout sadhguru’s video on this topic. Don’t miss out on this …. Important
