@steve-marsh I think you do deserve a following anywhere you post. You are very respectful and considerate with everyone you meet.Your videos are so interesting and I consider them evasion therapy which helps to stop the whirlwind of worries about the state of the world and the terrible things that happen. You and Alicjia are fantastic company. Always a real pleasure to watch.Always very entertaining. I just love your videos. Thank you so much for all you do.x
This is probably the most boring travel video I have ever watched and I loved every second of it. In fact i might just watch it again in a few minutes. The architecture , streets, views, people wandering about on a Sunday morning and the peace of the place. More vids like this please.
Sir, you are correct. Without all of the people, waving flags, blaring music, and bustling traffic, it's nice to see all of the architecture. Steve does a great job at being spontaneous, and that's kind of the way I've explored cities during my travels.
As a humble inhabitant of Santander, and a satisfied subscriber of your amazing channel, i need to say that i have enjoyed every single second of the video, Steve. You have made me travel around my city with your eyes and your "scottish" english, (which i enjoy even more!!!)..... and i loved it!!! Keep up your amazing work in the channel, you make a lot of people happy with your videos. Peace!!!! P.S. 1) The "Government Offices" are in fact a Theatre, Palacio de Festivales de Santander, (kind of Santander´s Opera House) 😉🤣🤣 2) The "turntable" is a platform to ease the turn around of delivery trucks and vans 3) Most amazing coincidence, minute 26:03 of the video you pass by my working place, LF Cantabria. Real State Company in Santander 😊
Were those 3 wooden ships in the museo el hombre y mar copies of the ones Cristobal Colon took to discover America? We have ones that you can go into in Huelva.
Amazing place! We used to just arrive in the ferry and go down the road home. Then we saw a tv programme all about Santander and decided to stay for a couple of days. We stayed in the Hotel Real as it was a special wedding anniversary. Can’t wait to see the next one!
@tinttistanton Those 3 Wooden ships are the ones used by a Mexican/Cantabrian Sailor named Vital Alsar to revive and honour Francisco de Orellana's expedition (up the Orinoco River). Vital Alsar did it in similar vessels in 1978, finishing in Santander
The Spanish tourist board should be looking for you Steve. With your simple walk around town you have done more to sell this beautiful corner of Spain than any number of " Come to Sunny Spain" adverts. A pleasure to watch (as usual!). Thanks Steve
Thanks Steve for this Video of my dearest spanisch town. I spent some sommers in the ficties and then one month in the palace of the Magdalena as a Tutor for a summer course International. I live seit many years in Germany and I lways dream of Santander. But You haven't show us the beautiful beaches of el Sardinero. I hope You will do. Thanks a lot!
I’m from Santander and I can say, not only thank you for showing it, and hope you feel welcome there, but also I guarantee nothing will happen to you there. It is a very safe community. Please, come again in the spring/summer time, and you will love it too! ❤
It is beautiful and safe but the number of beggars is increasing. Until last week we had never experienced an aggressive one, but right outside the Hotel Bahia that he used at one of their tables we had real trouble with a very aggressive female working with another man.
@@str20025 Yes they were. We have visited for a few years and usually the beggars are okay, they ask for money, we say hello, say sorry, no thank you and they move on. This time the male came around and tried, and immediately was followed up by the woman. She wasn’t going away and the male was obviously keeping a lookout for police. I was surprised as the pavement cafe of the Hotel Bahia is in a good area and we had never seen beggars in this area, they seem to stick to the Plaza del Pombo, Plaza de Porticada, Plaza Canadio circuit. We saw the same beggars three years in a row, most do the route three times a day, others twice and for most of them, the waiters and locals know them and have advised people not to give anything.
My husband is from Santander and we lived there for a number of years. If you go back you should visit Santillana del Mar it'll take you back in time. Also you didn't go to El Sardinero, which is one of the nicest parts of the city where they have the 2 famous beaches la primera y la segunda.Stunning area which is just along from where you turned back. Also Pedreña and Somo are on a little península. You can drive there but you're actually better getting on one of the little boats( los diez hermanos) they operate all through the summer and the beach there is incredible and you can see the city from a completely different perspective. Great video,I hope you go back to beautiful Santander.I can't wait to visit it again.Very different from Andalucia where we live now.
This brought back memories. In the 90's, I lived in a small town in northern Spain for 5 years and every Sunday was this quiet. Every day began with breakfast in a bar next to my work; chocolate con churros and brandy. Happy days. Thank you this.
Living in Plymouth, I'm lucky enough to have access to Brittany Ferries' Pont Aven (their flagship ferry) that sails twice weekly to Santander during much of the year. So I know Santander very well as I've visited many times. I was last there exactly a week before you (I was there last week of November 2023) and also stayed at Hotel Bahia. A fantastic hotel (have stayed there twice so far) and excellent value for money. Santander is a beautiful city with spectacular beaches and a vibrant night life. It's also an extremely safe, peaceful city. You walked past the bus station earlier on. Every hour, a bus leaves for Bilbao, famed for its Guggenheim. You saw one of actually two rail stations. They are next to each other. One is a narrow-gauge service for urban commuter services. The rail replacement buses you saw were because the line just outside of Santander, in the direction of Madrid is closed for engineering work. I was en route to Portugal when I travelled so had to use this for part of my journey to Madrid. That was before heading on to Badajoz on the Spanish - Portugese border. Anyhow, thanks for another great video.
No doubt that the city of Santander is one of the best kept secrets in all of Europe. I didn’t even know that this place existed. It’s all there… refined architecture, well manicured public spaces, above average municipal/port infrastructure, oceanfront footprint, multilevel terrain …. so yeah. Because of the ocean …it never gets too warm or too cold. If summers were a bit balmier, we all would have heard of this city a long time ago. Thanks for the tour ! Much appreciated 👍
Thanks from Canada, really enjoyed the ferry, Santander was marvelous, Spent about 30 winters Dec-May, on the costa Blanca (Moreira) saw so much of Spain. Once again thank you Steve, going to watch Salamanca. June❤
And San sebastian,la Coruña,Lugo,Salamanca,Segovia,Avila,Zaragoza,Cadiz,Malaga,Sevilla,Ponferrada,Astorga,Cordoba,Valencia,Madrid,Barcelona,Leon,Burgos...and more fascinating spanish cities and villages.
Steve, I'm glad you like Santander. It is a fantastic city that I know very well. In my opinion, the north of Spain is the best in the country. Beautiful beaches, incredible hiking routes through the mountains of Los Picos De Europa, I repeat, the best of Spain. I don't understand how many people go to Benidorm and don't know this part of the country. For future trips I recommend exploring Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia and the Basque Country. You will not regret.
Yo have to visit Extremadura!! Caceres, tierra de conquistadores,, el mejor bosque mediterráneo conservado de toda Europa, pura naturaleza!! (Estremadura!! Caceres, land of conquerors, the best preserved Mediterranean forest in all of Europe, pure nature!!)
To be honest the people who go to Benidorm may not appreciate having to speak Spanish and not having access to their fish and chips. They prefer to stay in their tourist resorts where everyone speaks English and there's access to the same meals as back home.
I love your everyman (and woman) style of adventure. Easy to watch and you know many people could do the trip with minimal planning, superfit or not at all, and a couple hundred Euros in pocket. Your videos capture the essence of simple adventure and are just so great for those of us who, through infirmity or lack of pennies, aren't able to do these little trips any more, except vicariously through you. Much pleasure. Thank you so much, Steve!
I lived in southern Spain for many years and drove to Santander to get the ferry back to the UK on many occasions. I'm feeling really bad that I didn't spend the time to explore this beautiful city. Wonderful architecture, clean and safe. It reminds me of how the UK used to be on a Sunday in the 70's when I was a young boy. Great video Steve.
11:40 Central Cantabrian Mountain range, ~ 2,000 m elevation 24:40 a plataforma giratoria - a turntable for buses/coaches/larger delivery vehicles so they don't have to reverse along the pedestrianised area
Saludos.
I agree. I actually prefer the Northwest of Spain to most regions of the country, I don't mind a bit of rain, I love mountains, the sea views are great, and the cities aren't half shabby, either. On my penultimate trip to Spain (to travel a last time on the Pajares line between Oviedo and León), I passed in Santander, admittedly I wasn't as charmed by it as I was by Oviedo, but this video showed I might have to give it a second chance. I'll be in the Basque region in 2 months, can't wait (and maybe I can add a few excursions out of the region...)
I cycled from Bilbao to Ferrol, l was going to go to Santander then south to Seville, but the scenery just kept getting better and better! It's amazing that Brits don't take their holidays on the Cantabrian/Asturias coast as it would suit them much better than sweating 24/7 on the costas. Asturias is the most beautiful place l've ever been to.
@@saltaireorangebicyclechopp8555it's better like this. The average British tourist think all Spain is like tacky Benidorm and miss out on the paradise like beaches of the north and the beauty of the green north
Your ability to do long walks throughout the places you visit is the key to your adventures. You are very astute at finding the right directions and admitting wrong turns when they infrequently happen. Many of your viewers wish that we had your walking abilities❤. Your travel on trains, ships, ferries and planes only gets you to where your videos come to life. Keep on walking!!
Ive been in Santander several times ( i have family there),and honestly all that Region of Cantabria with the famous Picos de Europa,is one of the most Beautiful regions in all of Europe. The Landscape, the "Atmosphere", the local Architecture and so much more is just Astonishingly Beautiful. A Must for the ones who dont know. You wont regret it.
I'm pretty new to your channel and really enjoying it, and I LIVE in Santander so I particularly enjoyed this one! You did the city great credit. Such a pity about not finding a place to eat open in the evening, you were quite close to at least one exception where they keep the kitchen open at all hours! Anyway keep up the videos, they're really enjoyable.
What a beautiful city - a true hidden gem! It was wonderful and peaceful walking around with you and learning something of Spanish culture. Thank you! 😊❤
I love how everything is closed on a sunday and people are out just enjoying the sunshine. Not like home where everyone seems to be shopping. Looks a fab place to explore.
Great to see Santander again and all the places I filmed too. But, I hope you didn't miss the Post Office building and the Cathedral next door (you'll have to go back 👍). You can also take a regular bus along the coast to Bilbao too. It's not far and a great place to visit - I have a video from my visit there too on my channel if you'd like to check it out before you go. You teased about where you're off to next so it could be Bilbao, but I suspect it's Santiago de Compostela which is really special - I'll just have to wait to the weekend I guess 😀.
I loved this so much. I felt so calm and happy watching this. I have severe anxiety and panic disorder. I will be watching this often bc it feels so peaceful. It's such a beautiful city and so clean. I also fell in love. You are so good at making us feel like we are there with. Thank you for this present.😅
Another awesome video Steve. Spain is a beautiful country, not just the cities, but the mountains, beaches, lakes and rivers. I was lucky enough to move to Spain in 2005 and have never looked back. Feliz año nuevo a todo.
I went to Spain a few times in recent years and I love the feeling of their cities. The sun - almost unbearable - but the way of life is incomparable to the way British cities work. The relaxed attitude along with the focus on quality of life and family does so much for their mentality nevermind the rest.
Great video, always amazed by how quiet Spanish cities are in the morning. Also love the fact on a Sunday so many people go out for walks and meet up with family and friends.
Hey Steve. Love your vlog style. Spain is a truly breathtaking country from north to south, east to west. You could spend your life exploring it. Keep up the good work!!!!
Probably my favourite city in Spain. It has it all, and everything very close. Every time i visited I spent my days walking along the sea. The Magdalena, the beautiful green area at the tip of the peninsula, is a gem. That beautiful mansion you called a castle, was the summer retreat of the kings.
If you like Santander, you will also enjoy Donosti - San Sebastian (it has a double name because it’s situated in the vasque country). Santander got almost completely burned in a fire in the early 1900s, that is why you have some districts completely rebuilt in a less elegant way. Donostia is generally considered to be a bit more beautiful in a global scale and also to have better quality of life. But on the downside, Santander has a better Location and is way better connected to Madrid and the rest of the peninsula. Each one has its own perks
It's a gem of a city and so clean with great transport around the city. Once you find where the locals eat you will never want to leave. Loved it. Was there with friends earlier this Yr. 🙏
Hi, Steve. I don't have much to add to what other commenters have said, other than that I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. Nonetheless, I understand that more engagement via comments boosts your channel, so here's yet another "thank you" for your honest, interesting take on your most recent adventure. I'm always thrilled when I get a notification of a new upload of yours. Many thanks.
Wow what a stunning place Steve! Love the architecture, the gentle waves of the sea and the mountains. Your hotel room had a brilliant view, looking forward to the next video
I travel on the Plymouth to Santander regularly. The comparison between the two cities is incredible. Santander is clean classy and really well kept.Plymouth apart from the seafront is a dump. So much for Great Britain.
Absolutely. And I bet safest also in Spain. I'm a Spanish man living in the UK and every time I go back home in Northern Spain everything seems so much clean, new and civilised than the UK.
Taking us with you on the walk through Santander - what a great idea. It really felt like I was with you in that lovely city, I've put it on my bucket list. Can't wait for the next video. Thank you Steve ❤
I recognized the hotel lobby from when I stayed there at Christmas when I sailed back to the UK. It is one of my favorite hotels. The restaurant there is exceptional. The 5 course menu with wine for 35 Euros is amazing. Great city. I would like to explore it more next time I come in via boat.
I went on a Mediterranean cruise a few years back and we were mostly at Italian ports. We stopped in Spain and it was wonderful. I’m from Texas USA and I know enough Spanish to get by. It’s funny but one kind Spanish lady told me that my Spanish was good but I had a Tex-Mex accent. I guess learning Spanish in Texas isn’t proper Spanish. Nice memory. Santander is lovely. Thank you Steve for taking us with you. Sometimes it’s just nice to stroll a beautiful city on a quiet Sunday morning.
Love Santander and the ability to get to Spain by ferry., not flying or driving. The narrow gauge railway opens up the North of Spain at low cost. Thanks for bringing back happy memories Steve.
Hi Steve, Santander looks lovely. It's a shame you were there on Sunday. I have lived here in Spain full-time for 14 years and can confirm that it is extremely safe. Great weather, fresh food, and nice people! What is there not to like? Big mistake, the UK, leaving the EU I think many people regret it. I am looking forward to your next video.
I've had the pleasure of visiting two cities on the northern coast, La Coruna and Bilbao and I too was impressed by the cleanliness and architecture. If I had to move to Spain it would definitely be the north. Thanks for this look at Santander which is on my visit list if I ever return.
The streets are cleaned on a daily basis and the rubbish collected daily. Where I live in the UK my street is swept once a week and rubbish collected once every 3 weeks that despite paying over £120 on council tax while in Spain there is not council tax
Having lived just down the road in Oviedo for a period of 6 months, two years ago, the video you shot got the juices flowing again. Many thanks. Viva el norte de Espana!
Absolutely beautiful. Santander is definitely on my list now. Going in the winter or close to Christmas is a great travel hack for any location. Almost no crowds and more for your money :)
Love those Spanish Cities there is no feeling of menace or fear when strolling through them, we have been to lots and lots of Spanish Cities and towns love Santander, Bilbao, Burgos, Valladolid, Salamanca, etc, etc, all full of History and loved by the ppl. One of our favourites is Caceras a Unesco world heritage site well worth a visit.
I think you mean Caceres, I totally agree, Extremadura is an unknown region and few people know, it is one of the best places to visit, it has the best preserved Mediterranean forests in all Europe, it is the land of the conquerors and there is a lot of culture and landscape to discover!!
Los raqueros were poor children who went into the sea to get the coins that rich folk were throwing into the water. There’s a really similar statue around Clarke quay in Singapore
"I've been in spain for 5 minutes and i'm aleady having chocolate con churros", you Sir, are a very wise man, chocolate con churros on a winter sunday is ALWAYS the right choice.
So glad to have found your channel! You're a delightful narrator and it's so much fun to travel along with you. The views of the sea and mountains were breathtaking! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Looking forward to your next one.
The secret's out. Great city and surrounding countryside .i.e. Cantabria, up there with the best. Married a Santanderina and have lived here since 1988.
What a beautiful city, gorgeous architecture, and a wonderful promenade - all very clean and well maintained. The hotel was a great bargain. I remember from visits in Spain, people eat their evening meal quite late - maybe 8 to 9 pm. You will be back, I'm sure!
I spent a lot of time in Spain when I was working. Lunch was usually from 2pm to 4pm, and dinner was at 11pm, sometimes later. When going to dinner on my own, if I showed up before 10pm, there was a very high probability that the restaurant was empty, and the staff weren't even prepared for guests. I tended to get into Madrid really late and would get to my favorite restaurant (El Rincón de Esteban) after midnight. The staff were very welcoming and always remembered my preferred wine, having a bottle uncorked before I was comfortably seated.
@@TheMaartian That doesn't sound so good. I take dinner to mean the main meal of the day, and a late dinner just before bed time usually means heartburn from indigestion during the night. Is dinner served in hotels late as well?
@@Scaw In my experience, yes. My business partner in Spain was based in Valencia, but had offices in many cities and on Palma de Majorca. I once went for dinner alone at the restaurant in my regular hotel in Valencia at 10pm. It was empty. Guests started arriving about 11pm. One time, we held a major business dinner there with some government officials that was scheduled for 11pm. Lunch is also a main meal. We took ours from 2pm to 4pm. Even truck stops along the highways had true restaurant dining rooms, with excellent food. separate from the main dining area for truckers (with food WAY better than the trash served at U.S. truck stops). Wine at lunch was also common. When it was just the two of us, travelling to another office, we just had a half bottle. And I NEVER got heartburn from Spanish food, even from dinners that started after midnight. The lifestyle in Spain is pretty unique. In France where I live, dinner starts at 7pm, but more typically at 7:30 or 8pm. Single seating at restaurants. They close when the last guest finishes around 10pm to 10:30.
Another great video. I don't often comment, but I always enjoy your content. What a lovely place. I don't know if you noticed Steve, but there were some beautiful clouds in the sky there. 😊⛅️
We always drive through and past Santander on our way to pre booked accommodation. It was so interesting to see the city itself. Mind you, I knew you would be unlikely to find a restaurant on a Sunday. It happened to us a few years back, so I was not surprised. I am now waiting to see where you went next!
Santander and also most of Cantabrian towns and villages have that vibe of quietness. People are nice but a bit reserved. Maybe is because Cantabria belonged for centuries to the old kingdom of Castile, known for its famous austerity in manners. Even kids and children seem to behave 😂 So different from the straighforwardness of the Madrileños. Glad you liked it. Greetings from nearby Bilbao.
I really love how you just set off and explore. It's a real adventure. And yes, Santander looks amazing. Looking forward to the next video. Thank you 😊
Clocked up more than a few miles Steve, in Santander. Great town and glad you got a Seaview from your room. Must have been starving by the end of the day! It's the worst nightmare when can't find anywhere for food! Hope the hotel did room service and you managed to get more than that sandwich! Was impressed how clean Santander was. Thanks for a great vlog. 👍 😊
The city is so pretty and very clean. Yes very surprised to see how clean it is. The coastline is beautiful especially the mountains. Thank you for sharing the day and be safe 🤗
I went to Santander in 2009 or so, it definitely seems to have been tidied up quite a bit since then. Still in the process of watching, but I'm sure it will be a great video as always :).
Most of Spain is pretty clean these days, at least in the city center, sadly that can;t be said about the outskirts where people still treat the roadside as a public trash bin.
30+ years in Spain, never had a problem ever. Safest country in Europe probably, along with the Nordics. The mountains are the Picos de Europa, gorgeos place, towns like Fuente De and Bulnes....good food and clean air.
Safest country in Europe? Go spend a week in Barcelona. You cant paint a whole country with one brush stroke. I live in a certain corner of the UK and never need to lock my door.
@Simonsvids Sorry you had a bad experience. I still stick to my opinion, and yes I have lived in Barcelona (Badalona, 5 years) and never had _any_ problem. There are problems with pickpockets and what is known as crimen de guante blanco, yes, but please note that I am _saying "safe",_ not crime free. Violent crime is virtually non-existent, you won't get physically attacked, stabbed, etc. in Spain. Also comparing a "corner of the UK" to a major city, with a population of 1.7million, is a _little bit disingenuous,_ at the least.
@@garyt123 I don't think he had a bad personal experience, it's a political issue. In Spain, the biased, corrupt and evil right wing financed the media to create an entire campaign of hate against the Barcelona when was ruled by a left-wing woman. False accusations, fake news, hoaxes and above all the continuous message that she had turned the city into a nest of criminals where crime runs rampant. The message penetrated deeply (like other lies instigated by this right and extreme right that is dirtying the world) and every time someone says something about Barcelona, someone like that will come out vomiting their implanted message. Or sometimes it is not even necessary and they will take advantage of any opportunity to repeat like cockatoos what they have been taught. And at least this is TH-cam, because on Twitter it's already unbearable...
What a terrific place Steve. I’m so glad you took us for a walk around. The coast is very scenic and they obviously take pride in their beach. Minimum graffiti and remarkable architecture. Not bad for a December day.
Wonderful, I went to Santander years ago and loved it. Very friendly people. Only problem I found was no one spoke English except for a Scottish lass in the tourist information. I'll go back tomorrow . Thanks excellent film.
Nice video! I love your "walk and see what I find" approach. And I'm having a serious flashback to the early mornings of villages, towns, and cities I walked through when on the Camino Frances in 2021...many days with a Scott from Edinburgh. Santander is now on my list to visit in 2025 along with Asturias. Me gusto cafe con lech y tortilla. Thanks Steve....love watching Spain with a Scottish twist. ;)
Cheers Steve...it's rainy yucky day here in NC....never been to Spain or Portugal...thanks for taking us here! Beautiful buildings....(Another Sunday in a traditionally Catholic county (like my experience in French country side)= not much to do!)
In Santander now.. Fantastic. Need to visit during the summer. I like seeing this December video and Christmas lights though for the contrast. I've been all over Spain for my current trip.. Everywhere is so safe. Crazy.... Great country!
Spent 2 weeks in Santander about 25 years ago and it hasn’t changed much by the looks of things. Beautiful city and the whole Costa Verde region, is utterly spectacular.
Santander, and its province of Cantabria, are amongst the nicest places in Spain. If you don't want to do as much walking, there is a tourist bus that circles the city allowing you to get on and off as you please. Sorry you didn't find a place to eat. It's sometime difficult in some cities in Spain on Sunday evenings.
Bilbao in the Basque country is not far from Santander, around 1-1.5 hours on a bus (no train). There is (or certainly was in summer 2022) a Ryanair flight from Edinburgh. The drive from Santander to Bilbao is absolutely jaw dropping. There are no words to describe it. It's like being at home with all of the green mountains, but they are juxtaposed with fabulous golden beaches! A seriously underrated part of the world.
There is a train. The Feve narrow gauge line takes you inland and then back to the coast at Bilbao. It's quite a long journey (3hrs I think) but it's well worth it for the scenery.

Santander is almost as good as the place where my son lives and I visit often - San Sebastian in the Basque Country, a couple of hours away by bus.
Yep... It isn't just a bank 🤷♂️😋
What a lovely place! No shops open on a Sunday. Heaven, wish the UK was like this. It used to be 👍👍👍
Steve, I'm glad you like Santander.
I would second what you have said about the Basque Country. Northern Spain in general is stunning.
Yo have to visit Extremadura!! Caceres, tierra de conquistadores,, el mejor bosque mediterráneo conservado de toda Europa, pura naturaleza!! (Estremadura!! Caceres, land of conquerors, the best preserved Mediterranean forest in all of Europe, pure nature!!)
And even better in the Moto 👏👏👏🏴🇪🇸
To be honest the people who go to Benidorm may not appreciate having to speak Spanish and not having access to their fish and chips. They prefer to stay in their tourist resorts where everyone speaks English and there's access to the same meals as back home.

Good Grief! Clean, clean, clean.
It does. I've seen it doing it in the past. Not sure if it is still working, though.
I felt very safe in Bilbao late at night. Far safer than in the UK.

Saludos.
I love Asturias. Looking forward to travelling to Santander next October, and driving around northern Spain !!
Esa es mi idea. Comprar un apartamento si puede ser en Asturias y pasar los veranos allí, huir del calor de Madrid y volver a la ciudad en invierno

Awesome city - clean, well-laid out, and scenic. Yeah, I could live there! Thanks for the video!
Santander is a beautiful city ... Steve thanks for sharing this with us. Regards Michael from Tasmania, Australia
@@VoiceOfVoiced He should have eaten in the Hotel Bahia, we were very impressed by the food there, very good and very reasonable.
Thank you. I am very much looking forward to visiting Santander.
Spain really does museums and art galleries in such a spectacular way, I love the abstract design of the buildings they house.
Steve Wallis staying in that cave! I did not expect that comment. Very funny. IYKYK Great video
the whole north coast of Spain is fantastic, well worth exploring..
What a beautiful place Santander is. Thank you for showing us a bit of it 🙏🏻
Great to see Santander again and all the places I filmed too.
13.38 is indeed a theatre, the Palicio de Festivales de Cantabria.
absolutely in love with Santander ¡¡
I loved this so much. I felt so calm and happy watching this. I have severe anxiety and panic disorder. I will be watching this often bc it feels so peaceful. It's such a beautiful city and so clean. I also fell in love. You are so good at making us feel like we are there with. Thank you for this present.😅
An absolute pleasure!
Another awesome video Steve. Spain is a beautiful country, not just the cities, but the mountains, beaches, lakes and rivers. I was lucky enough to move to Spain in 2005 and have never looked back. Feliz año nuevo a todo.
Feliz año nuevo para ti también desde Málaga, Andalucía🧡🧡💛💛💚💚💙💙💜💜🤎🤎🤍🤍
Yes indeed, I drove from Santiago to Vigo in 2008 with my family. The scenery it’s spectacular we love it.
Gracias amigo
I went to Spain a few times in recent years and I love the feeling of their cities. The sun - almost unbearable - but the way of life is incomparable to the way British cities work. The relaxed attitude along with the focus on quality of life and family does so much for their mentality nevermind the rest.
Great video, always amazed by how quiet Spanish cities are in the morning. Also love the fact on a Sunday so many people go out for walks and meet up with family and friends.
So true!
Spanish cities are only quiet on early Sunday mornings.
You've inspired me to visit Santander! I loved the architecture and atmosphere, as well as the beautiful seascapes.
They're the Cantabrian Mountains - well worth a visit (as are the Picos de Europa, further West).
It's a gem of a city and so clean with great transport around the city. Once you find where the locals eat you will never want to leave. Loved it. Was there with friends earlier this Yr. 🙏
What a beautiful city and coastline, great to go visit sometime in spring or a bit earlier, thank you for showing us all these great places!!!
Seve Ballesteros was from Pedreña in the region of Cantabria, whose capital is Santander.
So beautiful enjoyed the walk It makes want to go live there for a couple months or so!🚢
The beautiful lighting on this architecture is so charming ❤️
What a beautiful location!
This video has brought so much joy ! Thank you !
Really enjoying all your videos Steve
You make me feel like I’m on the journey with you without the stress 😂
Don´t forget... San Sebastian, Gijon. Oviedo, Santiago de Compostela!! at leastt!!😀😀😀😀😀😀
Coruña is marvelous
The streets are cleaned on a daily basis and the rubbish collected daily. Where I live in the UK my street is swept once a week and rubbish collected once every 3 weeks that despite paying over £120 on council tax while in Spain there is not council tax

What a stunning place Steve. I love the architecture of the buildings and those churros looked divine. Thanks Steve I really enjoy your travels.
I love the galerias (sticky-out windows) you find in the north of Spain. So pretty and so practical. Like a bay window and a sun room had babies.
What a nice surprise to see such a beautiful city! Thanks for taking us there Steve!
So glad to have found your channel! You're a delightful narrator and it's so much fun to travel along with you. The views of the sea and mountains were breathtaking! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Looking forward to your next one.
the Paseo walk is as Spanish as you can get. A really good tradition, you have to walk off those tapas or churros!
After 9pm. You won't get dinner in a restaurant before 9pm.
@@TheMaartianQue Dios te bendiga!

Great video Steve. You could have gone all Steve Wallis in the cave.
We always drive through and past Santander on our way to pre booked accommodation. It was so interesting to see the city itself. Mind you, I knew you would be unlikely to find a restaurant on a Sunday. It happened to us a few years back, so I was not surprised. I am now waiting to see where you went next!
There are restaurants open, just less than on other days. Google is your friend.
Thank you 😊
Santander is lovely! I was impressed by all the public art and how clean it all is.
The beaches were lovely too.
Speechless. Thank you Steve.
The city is so pretty and very clean. Yes very surprised to see how clean it is. The coastline is beautiful especially the mountains. Thank you for sharing the day and be safe 🤗
Why did it surprise you that it was so clean?
I enjoy how Spain changed from Spain in 60s 70s. Proud of it. Salutes from a little village in Aragon.
I went to Santander in 2009 or so, it definitely seems to have been tidied up quite a bit since then. Still in the process of watching, but I'm sure it will be a great video as always :).
Most of Spain is pretty clean these days, at least in the city center, sadly that can;t be said about the outskirts where people still treat the roadside as a public trash bin.
.. leaving content for a moment. steve marsh is a brilliant, enthusiastic, down to earth guide
Looks like a great place to visit. I have always loved Spain and its people.
Santander waterfront is gorgeous.
Great video of Santander; I love this Cantabria city in northern Spain , I was there in May 2023 .

Thanks Steve....love watching Spain with a Scottish twist. ;)

No no no. NOT eating is cheating, especially when your got the delicious and distinct cuisine of northern Spain!
It's true
So clean, puts us to shame.
