Nice machine! Here in Argentina was sold as well, the Fiat Bravo HGT 2.0 5 cilinder 20V 155cv coming from Brasil, and the variant, the station wagon Fiat Marea Weekend and the saloon version, 2.0 5 cilinder 20v 147cv.
In Brazil we have a similar car, with a variation of this 5 cylinder engine, the car is called "Fiat Marea", and the engine is the 2.4 20 valve 5 cylinder called "Five Tech".
In Brazil we have a lot of engine variations for Marea, from the 4 cylinder 2.0 Turbo to the 5 cylinder 2.4 20v "Five Tech", and no diesel variations because the law dont allow light weight cars with diesel engines... We have the Fiat Bravo too. A really nice car, one of the best avaliable in Brazil in 2000's, have some reliability issues, and in Brazil the maintenance cost are a little expensive... but a nice car at all.

And usually they were estate version of the "original" Marea; they were called "Marea weekend". By the way, this car was produced by Fiat both in Italy and in Brazil with some few differences. In my country, it was a part of a bigger project that made 3 cars born: Bravo, Brava and Marea (and Marea Weekend, too), with the same front.
I have had a Volvo S70 GLT with a tune, full exhaust, headers, it made about 210 n/a horsepower, it wasnt fast, but it sounded fucking glorious. Now I have a 4banger to commute with "/
Gotta love the 5 cyl. My friend's dad had a Ford Mondeo 2.5T.. It was a beast and its sound was the best.. Now he has a SW4 wich has a lot of power but its a 4 cyl diesel :(
our italian police in the late 90s early 2000 bought tons of marea with 2.4 v5 engines most sedan and some sw, some mareas are still in service and doin great but very hard to see one anymore
This engine is quite reliable, I had couple of issues with it - a cooling hose broken twice (two different hoses at different time) - that was caused by hard use for a long time, then an oil leak recently, don't know where it came from, but nothing else. Everything that had to be fixed when I bought it was done and was running very fine. I'd say good as first car, but keep in mind it has already 20-years-old. Only thing that bothered me a little when dailying it is the fuel consumption. It is pretty thirsty. If you have any more questions, keep asking.

I agree, it can overheat standing still or cruising very slowly in a city. However, it never overheats outside the city unless a cooling hose ends its work.
People have various thoughts on what is slow and what is quick. I am not spoilt much, I started driving on a 82 hp 1.2-litre FIAT Brava. I drove it for about three years when I bought my first car - this 147 hp HGT. I'd say it has a decent acceleration, not overwhelming, but overtaking is not a big deal with it. Once overtaking is easy with a car, I consider it as a pretty quick car.

Turbo tam nie je, to, čo tak počuješ, je sanie, ktoré sa do kabíny krásne zvukovo dostáva. To bude zapríčinené tou šiškou namiesto klasického airboxu. BRZ zatiaľ len krajšie kolesá a výfuk.

Ani nie, nešmýka. Resp. na lístí by sa každému šmyklo, treba mať však vhodné pneumatiky. Kďežto Yokohamy, čo mám na leto (AD08R mimochodom), sú na vode nepokojné, zimné Nokiany sú akoby pribité na vode. Len za to, že je to zadohrab, neznamená, že sa s ním šmykneš neočakávane. Skôr sa ti to stane na obyčajnom aute, lebo tam sa také niečo aj horšie zvláda. Netreba sa báť, ale opatrná jazda je samozrejmá. Odkiaľ si, mimochodom? :)

Na Slovensku je ich viacero, len treba hľadať. Pezinská baba (PKB), Jankov vŕšok (JV), Šturec, Makov, Jahodná... tých známejších ciest je viacero, toto je tá menej známa, ale veľmi fajn. Ja ju mám cestou na JV :) Inak je tak 30 km od môjho domu, takže aj preto o nej viem :)
Rozumiem, no za peknými cestami musí človek chodiť. Skýcov mám síce "za rohom", ale na PKB je to 110 km, na JV je to 80 km, Jahodná je na východe, Makov ďaleko na severe pri CZ a Šturec tiež pekných 100 km. Potom sú tu také ako Transfagarasan či Alpy a ver mi, že za takými chceš cestovať :)
S angličtinou mi pomáha jeden fanúšik z Austrálie, ale aj podľa neho sú to len drobné chyby a ide mi to. Nuž, ďakujem veľmi pekne. Ja som od Zlatých Moraviec.

Hm, maybe, but not on this car. You can make such smooth downshifts (when I consider also the heel-and-toe technique) on the BRZ. If so, I would do it with the BRZ.
I would love that video, my downshifts are a little hit or miss, they are a little jerky at times, I am still very nervous for using heel-toe downshifts so I rely on using my one foot on accelerator and one on clutch but that makes downshifting very hard while braking. . . and I drive a diesel😅😅😅😅
Not really bad, but could be better. It would need a stiffer suspension, sticky tyres and it could be quite good. It likes to accelerate and it also likes long turns.

That's very lightweight! This has 150 hp and 1,200 kg at most. My BRZ is more heavy, but the HGT feels much heavier on the road, it doesn't ride that great. Too soft suspension
Never knew Fiat used 5 cylinder engines ! Awesome sound. Sadly not many cars with these now. The RS3 sounds great but sadly no manual gearbox. Hate that fart sound every gear change with DSG, plus no thrill driving an auto performance hatch in my opinion. Real drivers prefer manual. Thats why the 911 can still be bought with a manual box. Audi take note !

Not all four-bangers are the same... for example, the BRZ is a four-pot and it sounds great.
Sounds okay, but not like the 5cyl, cannot replace cyl even if you can replace displacement xD

My hose broke when hooning it on a winding road, at the peak I noticed the temp was reach the red numbers. Not pleasing either.

whats its 0-100? I have a 1987 Nissan Pulsar N13 1.0L 55 hp and its pretty fast and fun little car i must say. Does 0-100 in 8 or 9 seconds!

Never knew Fiat used 5 cylinder engines ! Awesome sound. Sadly not many cars with these now. The RS3 sounds great but sadly no manual gearbox. Hate that fart sound every gear change with DSG, plus no thrill driving an auto performance hatch in my opinion. Real drivers prefer manual. Thats why the 911 can still be bought with a manual box. Audi take note !
