Migwitch, Grandmother for the teaching and to the Grandmother who taught me at Standing Rock. It was a moment of great spiritual growth. Honoring all that makes me a woman was so powerful, it us hard to describe for this white woman. I saw women who were tender yet strong in camp and that, too was powerful. Women around me as I grew up, were not strong yet nurturing, sadly. We were taught to think of our moon time as a curse to be beared, not a celebration of being a woman.

Do you have the anishnabemowin words to song and English translation. My wife would like to know. Meegwetch. I'd pass on tobacco but will put it out here.

Miigwetch grandmother. I went to my first full moon ceremony last summer. It brought on so many emotions, tears filled my eyes as I arrived. It was the first moon circle since COVID had happened, all the women came together. It was so healing. Miigwetch grandmother moon also. 🪶 🪶
