Wood chips for the excess water. Our city's electric company provides them for free from all of the trees they cut down. Since you're in SoCal, check to see if Edison provides it.
Hi, I would raise the ground level in the coop and slope it away so it will drain out to help prevent the poodles. add in some sand mixed with top soil and that will help the girls stay dry. Drain holes and slopes will really help out. Thank you for sharing.
That's a fantastic idea. If I can I will. I'm going to give this a try and see how it goes. We want to add another runa anD we're thinking about raising that floor. But that's a end of a year project. Taking notes for now 🙂 Thank you 😊
When I have left over meat on my refrigerator that no one eat I put it on my compost few days later maggots start growing I feed live maggots to hens good source of protein
I have the Jora composter 400 its very seal. Since the hard rain here in Modesto hens been laying few eggs. my hens do get wet they are free in the backyard they just go back to the coop at night
Omg that is such a good idea! I just added woodchips after I posted this. But I love that idea. If the woodchips get muddy I'm definitely doing that. Thank you so much! Your the best!
Yes! I just added woodchips. I couldn't stop thinking about after I recorded this video. So we gave it a try and the girls seem so much happier. Thank you so much.

That's awesome, when I need more I'll look into it. I currently have 3 big piles of wood chips. I should last me this whole year lol.

Ooohhh wow that's a good idea! The only things I would worry about is attracting coyotes or other wild life. Have you had any problems with that?
