All of the things you described about college football is exactly what Colorado is right now. The coaching, the grinding, the hard work, the X’s and O’s, the players, the traditions, etc.? That’s EXACTLY what Deion has instilled in this program. Nothing but respect for what Deion has done in Year 1, and best of luck to him and the Buffaloes moving forward.

He gets it. There is so much involved with building up the Colorado program/brand. It's not just the school or influx of donations to the school, it is the increased economics to the community (shops, restaurants, hotels, retail apparel, tickets sales, jobs). They will eventually have to add about 25 thousands more seats to the stadium to hold those that want in. Live with it and appreciate the excitement of the game. There is definitely a marketing strategy and right now it's working. College football is the hot ticket/Colorado football is at the top of the list; and "A List" celebrities want to be at the hot spot. Deion personality has always been his confidence, and who he is as a person. He instill those same things in his boys, by letting them know to believe in themselves, its not really about all the hoopla and the action we see around them, its about what he has taught his team to believe in. He has been to the Mountain top and he knows what it takes to get there, and this is why they believe what he says, he's been there and done it! Thats why he stands out from all the other Coaches, not because they don't their craft but because they haven't walk the walk that Deion has, thats why he can talk the talk! He has the remote control to his life.

Had to host First Take which all recorded from Boulder, then came the celebrities....then after all that he coached his team to a victory in double over time without his most lethal weapon on both sides of the ball. Had to sit down for a postgame interview at about 1am mountain time, then sat down for a 60 Minutes interview on Sunday Night and do all this in Boulder Colorado of all places. This whole thing is in a class of its own.For all who said it was supposed to be an easy game I would have to say, why would you think that. I'm a Buckeye and even when Michigan statistically sucked the last few years, we have never for moment not known that Our clash with the Wolverines is always our toughest game of the year. Its our dang Superbowl, if you win everything else and lose that, you lost the season. Period. Final score was and will always show 43-35. That is not small potatoes.

You're so right. College football is a huge biz, not just X's and O's. Coach Prime's hire was industry-changing - massive entertainment value. He knows how to captivate audiences on and off the field (College GameDay, 60 Mins for back-to-back years). Great perspective on the entertainment side of college sports!

The CSU coach is whining about penalties after blowing a double digit lead in the 4th. They allowed a 98 yard drive. Kamara (#8) gets a facemask, and follows that up with a targeting penalty. Both calls were valid. Funny thing is, #11 should've been ejected, but he wasn't, and his poor defense is why they were able to get big plays in the 4th.

    • @PraiseFlagsBanners

Deon is one of the best, probably the best corner back in the NFL. He also happens to be a celebrity and that’s different. How many coaches do you know who have a celebrity status like Deon. Have you watched the Aflac commercials with Deon and Nick Saban. Everyone likes Nick Saban. Let’s be real Deon brings culture to the sport no other coach in college has. You have to understand PRIME is a well known celebrity and Deon is a college coach. The work is changing to the Digital age and change is hard for many people. Difference is exceptionally difficult for those who want to hold on to the status quo.

it's amazing to me that people think Deion is about 'primetime' and putting on a show. Like he was some super athlete that coasted his way to being the best cornerback in the NFL (I'd argue he's the GOAT at DB), and an all-star outfielder. Any one who has paid attention to football since the early 90's knows that "Primetime" is just a persona, it's Deion's 'sizzle,' his larger-than-life projection that gets people interested.
Behind that sizzle is a man who has outworked and outstudied his competition every day, seven days a week, fifty-two weeks a year. Deion has exhibited high levels of dedication and work-ethic in every venture he's committed to for the past 35 years. So it's baffling to me when people underestimate him or attempt to marginalize him as all-flash-but-no-substance. What Deion has actually shown he's about it being the best, and doing whatever it take to make sure his team is the one leading at the end of the game.
I believe Deion has been absolutely correct in the way he's approached recruiting, which is to use his persona to get the kids interested (even though most of them have to listen to stories about Deion from their parents), and then he does the work required to close the deal. If I were to guess, based on what I know of Deion as a person, I believe he makes two promises to every athlete he recruits: First promise is that Deion will demand the very best from the player; the player will work, train & study harder than he's ever done so before. I believe the second promise is that Deion guarantee's the player's hard-work is paid off many times over in experiences and opportunities that other schools could only dream (e.g. pregame concerts by Lil Wayne). Deion has mentioned that he wants those players that are willing to work and earn their time on the field, but also enjoys to show a little sizzle.
