This movie was so super great on so many levels. It is a classic, and I laughed out loud in the movie theatre years ago, and still do now just at this clip ("Beware of the midget"). Added bonus is the feature song by Barry Manilow.
When I 1st saw this on the ABC Monday night movie at age 9( 2 years after it's release in theaters) in 1980, I thought it was the scariest thing ever when she first encountered the towering albino. And then later that same night, this scene
Ha, yes, totally! Though what really scarred me back then, and by scarred I mean scared the sh!t out of me, was the "Child Catcher" in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I have no recollection of what that movie was about; all I recall was that creepy villain and his kidnapping wagon.
Awesome music by composer Charles Fox who just last week was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fox is now the subject of fantastic new documentary called "Killing Me Softly With His Song"-- named after his 1973 Grammy winning hit.
Knitting needles. Man with the scar. The cigarettes. Wait a minute. I've got it. The albino is working for the dwarf! Love this movie. And Dudley Moore. Great cast.
I been looking for this movie for centuries all I could remember was beware of the dwarf and possibly Goldy Hawn was in this and I think I saw this on the million dollar movie in Philly i had to be about 6 or 7 at this time damn my memory is on point!
Elaine Theresa Smith thank you so much for putting up this scene.. I remember laughing so much in the cinema that my husband was mortified with embarrassment. My favourite film of all time and I still laugh just love it. Thank you again xx
Omg this makes me so happy to hear! I caught it on HBO, I must have been around 8 and I watched it SEVERAL times back then. It is pure joy! I was delighted to find out that it holds up just as well when I revisited in my 40s..I’ve since watched it at least a few times, turning more people onto it. It’s so well written and edited, beat for beat, line to line, the comedic acting, the timing, stellar, and the delicious chemistry between Goldie and Chevy, omg I could go on. Thanks for messaging!
What a movie! Terrifying and hilarious, all suspended together with Goldie, Chevy Chase, Dudley and Burgess. And so many award nominations. Loved it then, love it even more now.
What's really great about this scene is when later on the chief tells him (Chevy Chase) what's going on and mentions all those names, including the dead officer -Scott and he says holy crap, ( everything she said makes sense now.)
Literally! Wikipedia describes it as an homage to Hitchcock, and it is known as one of the first films to mix genres, in this case romantic comedy and thriller. I think it's the intensity that makes the laughs even heartier.
Burgis Meredith, Brian Denehy. This movie is just filled with amazing character actors. Billy Barty, Dudley Moore etc.

This albino guy scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. Found out he died over 20 years ago from liver disease. Internet gives lots of info.

Yes, this is the reason I watched this video. Remember my parents watching this movie and that albino creeped the hell out of me.

William Frankfather, great actor, even when he doesn't have a single line, which, in this movie makes him especially mysterious and scary!
Ha, I never thought about the fact that he had not one line, amazing. I need to check out his other films now.

The Moore scene was hilarious....
And a snake named Esmirelda who likes to eat cigarettes and a couple of old ladies who play Scrabble using filthy words.

It's like if Hitchcock had set out to make a hilarious, slapstick-y comedy.

Who was the actor that was trying to kill her?
DON CALFA.
Gaslighting 101. 😂🤣
Sound is below mediocre, like it was recorded on an old shoebox tape recorder from the year the film came out.
Lmfao 😁❤😁
It's actually half comedy...lol

Great movie lacking in drama and dramatic scenes , wow
