I noticed that all students who were accepted into UWC schools when they came in their first year were rejected, but when they came in the second year, they were accepted .... Is this really ?! Is it rejected the first time ?! 😂😂 I am really nervous about this because I am in the second grade of high school and I have one attempt in front of me, and I desperately want to attend UWC schools 😢

But I have a question: if I have really outstanding marks and high level of English (which is not common in my country) and I’m a winner of a national students Olympiad in French (so I speak French too), but I don’t have that much extracurriculars (just volunteering in UNICEF and that’s it). So I’m extremely academical-oriented (however, it doesn’t mean that I have no hobbies at all, I love debating and study psychology by myself). That’s why I doubt that it is possible for me to get in, even tho I know that they don’t always need people who are a part of lots of clubs, but I still feel bad about it…
Hey! Wow. You have done so much!! Apply apply APPLY! UWCs need lots of different people; some who are into extracurriculars, some who are into academics. Don't compare yourself to someone who has different interests and strengths, just show them how well you do what you love
I'm planing to apply in dec, 2022 and if I got in I have to join on sept 2023 . But the thing is I'm gonna be 15 on sept 2023 and I'm gonna turn 16 in feb 2024 so can i still apply or it's necessary for a student to be 16 on the start of the session?

I’m really worried it will ruin my application or mean that I’m not belong in that program.
Noa Sela hey Noa! Believe it or not, I had the exact same problem when I was applying. It’s okay not to know what you want to do! If you have some general ideas (how much you want to travel, how much university you want to do, etc), talk about that. Then, tell them exactly what you told me! That you hope to grow your vision at a UWC surrounded by different experiences and perspectives. Let me know how it goes!!

I have got only a partial scholarship and my parents cannot afford the tuition. So my question is for all UWC alumni or anyone who can help : Is there by any chance a way to cover the rest of my tuition, like financial aid programs or scholarships offered by organizations or anything? You're so freaking cute and your video was pretty helpful so thank you a lot!!!❤ I'm currently applying to uwc and I'm writing my application, and like you said they asked me about my extracurriculars, specifically they asked about the artistic and creative interests that I actively pursue, plus my athletic activities, and the truth is that I don't really "actively" pursue any artistic or athletic activities, do you think this might keep them from admitting me? I'm concerned and honestly disappointed that I don't as many cool activities as people out there do, the truth is that I had a lot of interests but never had the chance to pursue any, anyway just please tell me what you think and thank you from the bottom of my heart💓
just a daydreamer thank you so much!! Honestly I would be honest. Don’t worry too much about what the NC will think, tell them what your passions are and then tell them how you’ve tried to pursue them, even if you aren’t doing anything right now. And keep in mind it’s just one of the questions! As long as you’re involved in activities (even if they don’t fit under those categories), you’ll be okay :) best of luck with the application!!

I have one more question if you don't mind, as you can see I'm really concerned about my extracurriculars I think they're the most stressing part for me cuz I'm getting the feeling that my extracurriculars aren't enough, do you mind telling me what are your extracurriculars so I can judge for my own, it will be helpful to know what the extracurriculars of someone who's been accepted are

For my extra curriculars, I mainly talked about army cadets, running the social justice club at my school, being student council secretary, and producing a youth arts festival in my town. I did some other extra curriculars as well, like a youth empowerment organization and some local volunteer work, but I touched on those more briefly. Again, if you don’t do as much or if you don’t take leadership positions DON’T WORRY! UWC is looking for passion more than quantity, and they need followers as well as leaders.

Mohamad Omar Kaziz hey! The number of reference letters depends on your national committee, so I’d check their website! And in terms of making a video, I don’t have very many suggestions other than the ones I mentioned in this video because that’s really up to the teachers

One should be from my class teacher, one is a non-academic reference and the last one should be from someone who knows me well. What I wanted to ask is who would you suggest asking for these other two references?
I'm so sorry I just saw this! If you're still working on it, pick someone who knows you, who likes you, and who you trust to write a good letter. I know that's generic advice but I don't know what kind of adults you have so that's all I can give you!
Hey! I have a question. In the US, you have two opportunities to apply, in grades 10 and 11. Do you have two opportunities in Canada? If so, did you get in upon first application or second?
Josie hello! We don’t have the exact same system here, but it’s similar. In Canada you have to be 16 by the September you’d enroll, and they strongly recommend you to be in grade 11 when you apply. But some people (like me) have early birthdays, so I fit the age requirement in grade 10. So technically, I could have applied again the next year if I didn’t get in. I hope that answers your question!

Nora Hey! I have a lot of friends here who did short courses and a lot that didn’t. Personally, I didn’t attend one, but my best guess is that it all depends on how you talk about it. Don’t use the short course to seem like you know everything about life at UWC, use it to talk about what lessons you learned and what you hope to find at full UWC! Good luck on your application :)

Kari Mimu Hey! Yes, you need a principals letter. What I did for mine was told her all about uwc, and gave her a list of things I do in the school that she could talk about. Also, wow! I'm not from Spain so I can't answer that well, but if there are informative talks and it's possible to attend them, I would recommend going because you'll meet the admissions team and other applicants and you'll learn more about UWC. That being said, I'd email your NC to know for sure. They're very kind and helpful!

Marks shouldn’t matter too much, as long as you aren’t struggling in your courses and it looks like you can handle the IB. That’s just my best guess, because I don’t know exactly what the selection teams do, but I would just write your application and talk about all the amazing things you do💕 and don’t worry about the things you can’t control

I know that it's late so you probably wouldn't check but I'm applying through the Indian national committee and they've not specified a due date, they've just specified September so I'm hoping it goes till the end of September. I started my application this week and I'm done with one essay out of four, but my main question is, they didn't ask us to submit any grades or résumé.... could that be done in later rounds? it's kind of scary why wouldn't they want to see our grades? we also have to write an essay about the pandemic and stuff, so....
Hey! Every NC is different. If they don't ask for your grades, that might mean that they care more about who you are as a person than what grades you've gotten. It actually sounds like a really interesting choice! Don't stress, just let your awesome personality shine through in your essays :) you've got this!!

Hey! Of course, you always have a chance. UWCs are looking for diverse people to fill their student body. Not everyone can get amazing grades and be in every club! As long as you are someone with passion and drive, you have a shot :) Whatever you do, don't try to make yourself someone you aren't in your application. Own your life, and be honest! Good luck :)
taissa ok! I’m not sure what their requirements are exactly. Check out their application process and see what they say specifically for their letters of recommendation. If they do require one from your principal and you haven’t gotten to know them yet, I would recommend sending a letter to your principal detailing what you’ve done at your school, so that you can give them something to write about. You could even ask to have a Skype call with them if you feel comfortable doing that!

Hey! I have a question. In the US, you have two opportunities to apply, in grades 10 and 11. Do you have two opportunities in Canada? If so, did you get in upon first application or second?
Josie hello! We don’t have the exact same system here, but it’s similar. In Canada you have to be 16 by the September you’d enroll, and they strongly recommend you to be in grade 11 when you apply. But some people (like me) have early birthdays, so I fit the age requirement in grade 10. So technically, I could have applied again the next year if I didn’t get in. Devi Kirei hey! I’d try to get as close to the word count as possible, but if you’ve said everything you want to say in 200 words then you know yourself best :)

Nora Hey! I have a lot of friends here who did short courses and a lot that didn’t. Personally, I didn’t attend one, but my best guess is that it all depends on how you talk about it. Don’t use the short course to seem like you know everything about life at UWC, use it to talk about what lessons you learned and what you hope to find at full UWC! Good luck on your application :)

I'm Canadian and I'm planning to try and get into UWC next year when I am eligible to do as right now, I'm too young to do so.
I was wondering, do you HAVE to ask your principle to write a letter? I go to a large school so the principal doesn't really know me. Just Wondering.

Kari Mimu Hey! Yes, you need a principals letter. What I did for mine was told her all about uwc, and gave her a list of things I do in the school that she could talk about.

Hey! I'm not from Spain so I can't answer that well, but if there are informative talks and it's possible to attend them, I would recommend going because you'll meet the admissions team and other applicants and you'll learn more about UWC. That being said, I'd email your NC to know for sure. They're very kind and helpful!

Marks shouldn’t matter too much, as long as you aren’t struggling in your courses and it looks like you can handle the IB. That’s just my best guess, because I don’t know exactly what the selection teams do, but I would just write your application and talk about all the amazing things you do💕 and don’t worry about the things you can’t control
hey! I know that it's late so you probably wouldn't check but I'm applying through the Indian national committee and they've not specified a due date, they've just specified September so I'm hoping it goes till the end of September. I started my application this week and I'm done with one essay out of four, but my main question is, they didn't ask us to submit any grades or résumé.... could that be done in later rounds? it's kind of scary why wouldn't they want to see our grades? we also have to write an essay about the pandemic and stuff, so....
we also didn't have to submit a reference letter...
Hey! Every NC is different. If they don't ask for your grades, that might mean that they care more about who you are as a person than what grades you've gotten. It actually sounds like a really interesting choice! Don't stress, just let your awesome personality shine through in your essays :) you've got this!!

Of course, you always have a chance. UWCs are looking for diverse people to fill their student body. Not everyone can get amazing grades and be in every club! As long as you are someone with passion and drive, you have a shot :)
Whatever you do, don't try to make yourself someone you aren't in your application. Own your life, and be honest!

taissa ok! I’m not sure what their requirements are exactly. Check out their application process and see what they say specifically for their letters of recommendation. If they do require one from your principal and you haven’t gotten to know them yet, I would recommend sending a letter to your principal detailing what you’ve done at your school, so that you can give them something to write about. You could even ask to have a Skype call with them if you feel comfortable doing that!
