I love my steam canners. They are much lighter than a boiling water bath when filled. Also, if you put a penny in the bottom, it will jiggle. This way you can tell if it runs out of water because the jiggle will stop. Very informative video. Thanks so much! Blessings 💕💕
When i saw this video back in January i went and bought one and i`m glad i did cause now they are 75.00 dollars WOW. Yesterday and today i made 14 pints of Jellied Cranberry Sauce. Now i`m gonna make some Holiday Jam. As soon as i took of the lid all the jars were pinging. All of them sealed right away. Thanks so much for this video.
Thanks for the info! I have one and was wondering how to check the temperature. Never thought of a thermometer. And I’m going to get the Oregon instructions.
I am seriously thinking of buying a steam canner because the heavy water bath canners are just that, heavy! I'm concerned they might damage my electric stove burners. Thank you for this informative video on these steam canners. I have learned a lot from you. :)
I love my steam canner. Use my water bath canner only once. My steam canner is my go to piece of equipment. Actually purchased it by accident. So glad I did.
Thank you so much for making this video. After watching you use your steam canner yesterday for your grapefruit marmalade, I have been so intrigued. Great information and instruction.
Boy o Boy do I Love mine! My Granddaughter got me a Stainless steel one for Christmas so now I have 2 of them ❤ I imagine the new one will last longer than the aluminum one as its a lot heavier made
Thank you, I bought a bunch of canning jars from an older gentleman and he threw in a steam canner. All of the ones I’ve seen had a temperature gauge this one doesn’t so it’s been stored in my shed until I could learn more about it. I’m pulling it out this week to use in some of the Canuary videos.
Thanks for sharing! Hello from SW WA! I look forward to the next informational video. By the way, stopped under the bridge last time we went to Coos Bay(hubby is ILWU). I love all these bridges. I live halfway between Astoria-Megler and Lewis & Clark bridges. We travel that way often. ❤ NB and CB area!
I have a steam canner but always forget to use it when doing small batches. Sure needed this to get me back to using it. Beats hauling out the water bath canner for just a few jars
I have been interested in a steam canner for a while but not enough info to help me decide. Thanks to your informative video I think I’ll go for it! Great job!
Thank you for making this video. First steam canner I’ve ever seen. Never heard of them before until you mentioned it in your grapefruit jam video the other day! Now I’m intrigued. Lol. Very informative video. Enjoyed it!
Have never used a steam canner before...Something NEW! Thank You!!! Love the thought of doing a few jars at a time. How often do you use your steamer canner? Steam Dreamer!!!
Thank you for doing this. I really like the idea, and the reason I got it, was to eliminate the weight. I do worry about boiling to hard and boiling dry so I think I'll try the penny trick below.
If my aluminium steam canner ever dies, I think I will replace it with one like yours. Not only does the temperature monitor look helpful, but the rack and handles look better than mine.
I used my my steam canner for the first time today I made raspberry jam by using two quarts of raspberries to two and a half cups of sugar I placed the water at the level the steam canner has suggested I put the three jars in and had no recipe for processing time I process the jam as usual as if I had it in a water bath canner for 10 minutes I left it inside with the lid on turn the heat off when the 10 minutes was up and let the jar sit for 5 additional minutes then took it off everything sealed nicely but I'm nervous about process time
Great video! My question is, will the inside of the jars be boiling hard when they come out of the steam canner like they do when we pressure can? Thank you!
I like the steam canner because it doesn't take as much water but I also like the electric one because it doesn't take up stove top space. So it really depends on what I'm doing and where I need space, I guess.
Could you please post here the information again where we can obtain the paper you were reading from? I have that steam canner and would like to have that information to refer to. Thanks.
Not seeing your Amazon store link? Also if you lift lid to fill jars which are in the steam canner already keeping warm, do you fill them while still in canner? doesn’t temperature go down again if you do that? Is this ok?
As you do the jars they are hot Nevada they've been heated in the steam canner. When you put the top back on and bring it back up to full steam it only takes a few minutes. Here's a link to the newest one I got. Ibreally like it because it's multipurpose. amzn.to/3geV5w5
Great video!! Love cannary! Just a quick question, have you notice an increase on jars that are not sealing with the steamer? One other person metioned it happening with her. Thank you for all the information!
I CAN'T FIND THE LINK TO THE PUBLICATION. I TRIED THE OSU WEB SITE BUT HAD NO LUCK. COULD YOU POST A LINK. THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO GOT MINE LAST YEAR NOT SURE IF WHAT I CANNED IS GOOD. I NEED MORE INFO ON CANNING THIS WAY. IT IS MUCH EASIER FOR ME TO USE. THANJS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.
I just bought my FruitSaver steam canner last week. I tried it for the first time 2 days ago, and I have a few questions and hope you can answer them. Do I only need to start up the canner but not to the rolling boil while I am prepping and cooking my product, then turn it up after I put the filled jars in and wait until indicator is in my green zone to start my timer for processing time needed? Can I put in jars to heat up/stay warm in there? If so, do they need to be filled with water, or do I heat them up in a water bath and then put them in the steam canner? Thanks, in advance, for some further clarification so I get more comfortable with this process using the steam canner.
You can set the jars in the canner to get hot prior to filling them. You don't need to have water in them. If your process is less than 10 minutes you can heat it to the right level on the indicator for 10 minutes to sterilize the jars. Then just carefully add some hot water into the base without removing the jars. If the process is over 10 minutes you don't have to sterilize the jars. You can just heat the jars in the canner. But once the jars are filled and the top is on you bring it up to boiling to the indicated level and then start your timer.
Thank you so much for your prompt reply! I am going to try this today when I prep my peaches for jam. You take the jars out one at a time to fill and then return it back to the canner and then take out the next one and repeat this process until all are full and in the canner, correct?
@@dianablaisdell1578 Yes but keep the top on between removing each jar as that will help keep them warm. When they are all full and in the steam canner bring it up to the mark on the indicator for your altitude then start timing. When the time is finished just turn the heat off and let the indicator come back to zero. You find the process to be much quicker overall because it takes hardly any time to heat unlije watching a pot waiting for it to boil.
I love my steam canners. They are much lighter than a boiling water bath when filled. Also, if you put a penny in the bottom, it will jiggle. This way you can tell if it runs out of water because the jiggle will stop. Very informative video. Thanks so much! Blessings 💕💕
What a great idea about adding a penny. Clever!
What a brilliant idea. Thank you

Very interesting!!
Thank you. I was wondering.
Aka Marcia Klein. Steam canner interesting equipment. Like versality of using for small batches.

You process in the steam canner for the same time as you would a boil water canner.
Can you start with cold jar and contents and cold canner? Heat it all together?
I do want to know that I waited for the processing time when the needle was in the green indicator for my C Level
I don't understand your question.
Good imfo... thaks...
Thanks for the information. You are the cat's meow
Interesting video.
Glad you think so!
Great video! My question is, will the inside of the jars be boiling hard when they come out of the steam canner like they do when we pressure can? Thank you!
Not so much. They act the same as when they are done in the boil water canner.
Lol, now I want one of these👍👍🙃
Which do you prefer, the steam canner or the Ball freshtech electric canner.
I like the steam canner because it doesn't take as much water but I also like the electric one because it doesn't take up stove top space. So it really depends on what I'm doing and where I need space, I guess.

Can I use a steam juicer for steam canning, to save space.
No a steam juicer is set up completely differently.
