    Very good explanation.

    The difference in benefit between passive and active crossover isn't control, it's about audio quality. By separating the freqs and sending them to separate amps, each amp can carry their own load, creating less distortion. If one amp is carrying a heavy low freq load, there will be more distortion on the high freqs. You can still control the levels of the high and low freqs, but the highs will be more distorted. With active crossover, less distortion, cleaner audio.

    ye u can and u should... u can use filters in your system if u have them or u can turn off all filters and use active xover... sound source ---> xover ----> sub and mid/hi range amped drivers

    What's with the powered mixer? You can't even use those two items together unless the mixer has stereo lines out.

    Guys... Having a crossover has made my audio experience go from 4/10 to 8/10. You do NOT need a big system. The reason why I bought my crossover is so that I can independently control the bass level of my towers. If I turn down the bass on my towers it takes a huge load off the towers, leaving the mids/highs. This is GREAT because I can unleash my party piece (4 12 inch subs) that will BLAST the bass. However the highs from my towers will be able to keep up with it.
    Check my vids for example.

    this is for when your dealing with serious sound in a serious space? so tell me, you have 2 passive speakers a passive sub and amps to power both... what happens when you feed a 1000 watt sub a full range signal? crazyness...

    i have dbx 234xl ..what does the phase invert do? and x10? thanks

    • @TempoDrift1480
      @TempoDrift1480 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It reverses the polarity of the subs so when you have the speakers in a shitty placement you hit that switch and it should improve the way they react with one another. It stops phase cancellation.

    when he says, "invert" does he mean phase invert?

    • @MrCashSaver
      @MrCashSaver 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes hes talking about phase invert, I have the dbx 223xs which is just a newer model as the one hes is using , there is a seperate button on the front console, one to reverse the polarity on the low output, one button for the mid output and one button for the high output. Each also has its own Green LED light when the button is pushed in and the polarity reversed.

    Ps you only need 2 amps for the cross over, one for each channel thats it...

    the problem with this video is it doesn't clarify anything. Don't make a video if you can't explain something properly. Reading what's written on the faceplates is not useful to anyone but a blind person. For example, when you say "sum in the sub" it sounds like you are talking about inputs. Later. you mention that the same signal is "out to the sub." Is it "in" or is it "out"? I'm sure it seems obvious to you, but not to the unitiated, which is really the whole purpose of an instructional video. You don't need to explain anything to someone like you who already knows everything. Here's another bit you don't explain -- when you refer to "summing" to the sub what exactly is being summed in your video? There appears to be only one input. If one of the jacks becomes a second input in "summed" mode, don't you think that's necessary information to understand what the Hell is going on?

    First off, this really wasn't a demo of the dbx 223 crossover. In fact, I could barely hear the dirst few changes he made, and the crossover was only really displayed for about a quarter of this video. Plus, you don't use this for just only big sound systems. If you have an unpowered sub, and cabs, you'd probably want to use one to separate the highs/mids and lows. However, this was an informative video that I did very much like. I also am educated about sodium as well...

    Useless demo video, you did not talk at all about the crossover frequency, that is the most important part of the item you are describing.

    yea this sucks for some one that does not know about cross over points. It is kind of setting them up for failure if your telling them to just turn the knobs until it sounds good.. this setup does not make a lot of sense as well? why would you use a cross over and then run it into a powered mixer? P.S do not ever let a DJ touch your audio equipment!! they blow subs all the time, because they don't under stand what a cross over is doing!!! "hmm.. low knob.. that needs to get turned up!" idiots..
