I own one. And it has been great so far. Had the first Gen as well. Sold it to my friend. Who likes it as well. Bought the 3-15x44 model a few months ago. I bought both on sale. Great warranty. And resale value if I ever decided to upgrade. Some people have had problems. But that is to be expected with how many that have been sold. I believe it was their best selling scope a while back.

I have one with the EBR-2D reticle MidwayUSA sells for $650. The clarity and chromatic aberration ,especially at the high end of the magnification, on mine is better than an Athlon Ares BTR Gen 2 I had. YMMV.

It's fine. I can use it comfortably out to 1k without scope related issues and in a variety of positions on my 6ARC. Optical quality degrades at the higher magnifications and parallax tracking is a suggestion at best. The slightly bigger brother is a better option outside of weight considerations.

I had a pst gen 1... Send it for repair. Had a gen 2 instead of the repair. Gen 2 reticule failed after 20 308 shot. Send it for repair. The scope came back and then the elevation turret somehow dismount itself. Send back for repair. A brand new one came back... Sold it, problem solved 🤦

Great review, and i whole heartedly agree with it. There is one thing though that you left out in your comparison of it vs the strike eagle and that was actually why i chose the strike eagle. The strike eagle has 110 moa of vertical adjustment vs the 70 moa of the viper. I have 3 trainer rifles, a Vudoo V22 360 and two Bergara B14Rs. I put a 60 moa rail on the Vudoo and I am able to actually dial out to 510 yards with 105 moa i am left with having it zeroed at 50 yards. The 70 moa of the viper would have meant for my application that i would have had to use a 30 moa rail and only be able to dial to about 390 yards. The B14Rs i cheaped out and went with the venom on both of them, one is used for ara competition, and the other is my practice rifle for my Vudoo, so i don’t mess things up between competitions. Reason my practice rifle is what it is, i am a lefty and it was my cheapest option for a rifle that i could actually get my hands on that worked for me.

43:30 - Turrets completely broke off mine. PST Gen2 5-25 MRAD EBR7C. Posted a video.
Had to send it in. And traded it (+cash) toward a LHT FFP with Vortex's upgrade service program.
After that, I couldn't take this scope seriously further. And just went with used RHD G2 in future.

I need an spr scope. Burris xtrii 3-15 are on sale for cheap right now. Are those any good? Or would I be better served with an optika 6 or something else?
    Thank you for your efforts.

Love the review and the comparisons but would love to see max zoom stepped out at incremental distances like 50, 100, 200 yard ranges. Then maybe the 400yrd rooftop and etc. Right now the big bore range segment has the distances to target varying and not clear to viewer while watching. Missed our visit to your ‘home away from home’ in this one

The Arken EP-5 isn't quite as low as $300, but a used one for $350 still gets you quite a bit of optic per dollar. Quite literally actually, because it's a 1100g (39 oz) scope.

I have a Tract Toric ELR 4.5-30x56 it's ok but not fantastic especially after I bought 2 Arken EP5s and compared to the Tract Toric ELR it's really close. I don't think the Tract Toric ELR is worth the money I paid. I'm going to be buying more Arken EP5s and no more Athlon Cronus BTRs and Jo more Tract Toric ELRs. I actually prefer the HUGE view looking through the EP5s.

Appreciate the excellent reviews and scope comparisons. Keep up the good work.
With only 5 years warranty, the Bushnell MPED obviously doesn't have anywhere near the bulletproof warranty as the unconditional no questions asked VIP lifetime warranty that Vortex offers including free prepaid return shipping label provided by Vortex if warranty is even needed.
The newest Arken EP5 is another scope begging to be reviewed and compared against the best scopes. The newest EP5's seem to have night and day far superior glass compared to their older EP5's. Don't buy an older used EP5 but a brand new one with the superior glass. You will find it noticeably clearer than the MPED and very close to if not clearer than the Viper PST Gen 2 and have far superior turrets.
The newest Arken EPL4s are also worth taking the time to review though not quite as clear as the EP5, they are clearer than their much higher priced competitors and have far superior turrets as well.

I had this scope on my Creed, Cant see shit at 700 and eyebox is F-c& linked directly to adjustement, if the scope is not in the perfect central zone, you will search your image and it will be blocked by the scope tube ( partial view) . Even the scope on my 17hmr is better then that and its a cheap Element Helix 6-24

That’s weird, I have one on my savage 110 tactical bolt gun 308, glass and clarity is excellent all the way to 25 power, almost on par with my vx-5’s, quality control must be off somewhere along the line.
