Just because it's syncopated synth pop doesn't make it fake. Thomas has an amazing voice. Dieter might not be a great singer but he sure is a great arranger and has a great pop writing. Yeah they used a couple of session hired singers for the falsetto part, so what?? It's the same as a hired musician to play on a session. First, get your facts straight, and not some random crap you read on wikipedia

Nothing weird about Modern Talking's sound, they were a quintessential 80's pop act, and more specifically Europop. Their albums sold by the dozens of millions, and they were a household name in entire Europe (including UK) throughout the 80's. They have tons of hits, most of them with a recurring tone and beat, which at the time proved infectious.

You know, this music video has 630 million. views on TH-cam! Where I live, some called this song Yama-ha Yama-so probably because Yamaha is a well-known keyboard brand in this synthpop genre. I think this song was big in Japan and that brings me to another 80s German band, Alphaville. They had a song called "Big in Japan". It's just as weird and random as this Modern Talking song. I prefer the Alphaville song "Forever Young". The sound makes me feel forever young.

They where absolutely massive here in Europe. From 84 to 87, all albums high on the charts, all of the singles from the albums high on the charts, multiple nº1's. Some weeks they had the first 3 positions of the charts with 3 of their songs and the 1st and 2nd albums on the album chart. They where the highest selling Germans/pop act in German phonographic history, to this day.
Still remember clearly all of those songs and albums hitting the Top20 and seeing all the videos for the first time.

Modern Talking are the most successful pop duo in the world with 150 million records sold. From 1984-1987 and the comeback 1998-2003 they made pop history. Revered in Russia to this day and in general throughout the East. Successful in Europe, Asia, Scandinavia, South Africa, and South America such as Latin America. Except for the USA, the door was open at the time, but due to a dispute between the two and Nora, singer Thomas Anders' wife at the time, it never came about. Today he tours solo through sold-out concerts in the USA, and has delighted numerous fans of this music taste there as well.

This is possibly, the biggest problem in the world today, regarding modern, pop, culture overall, and that is LACK OF VARIETY!! Unique is good. Kids today, should try it more. Now when it comes to "weirdness" then I think modern, rap and hip-hop pretty much, take the cake, as that gets as weird as all hell, all too often.
Now, I will compliment you guys on your willingness to check out and try a huge and vast assortment of pop music, from several generations and eras. Things I might not consider checking out myself. If more of your generation were willing to do this then maybe, just maybe, we could begin to see some real, change in modern, pop, music and modern, pop, culture overall.
Much Love. My Best. Be Will and Safe. Out.

This song is a good reminder to be nicer to people who grew up in the 80s.

My God, I am laughing out loud now!1 This 80s Euro monster was huge in Vancouver, Canada in the mid 80s. Since living in Germany the last 24 years they were considered the group no admitted to liking. This was the FIRST of many hits worldwide (except in the US.). My favorite was „Geronimo‘s Cadillac“ Also check out „Brother Louie‘“ They were an acquired taste, but pure indulgent Euro Pop .

I found this music through some Vietnamese friends in ’85. The Vietnamese community in the U.S. during that time was into this style of European “new wave”. The genre is called Italo Disco.
