So I 'figured this song out' for myself in the past using the D, A, and G (key of D) cords and it seems to match my voice more naturally. Is it 'normal' or 'customary' to change the key of a song to match the singers voice or should I try to sing it in the key that you and Merle sing it in?
Hey Buster, it is very normal to change the key to fit your voice. I have to do that a lot. I like to stay in the original key if I can especially when doing a lesson but I don’t always. Changing it to fit you is always the best. Thanks again for watching!
Excellent instruction! I am learning this song now and I really appreciate your careful explanation. Your vocals sound great too, my friend.
Thanks so much, I’m glad it was helpful.
This is one of my favourites from Haggard. I glad I found you. Will watch till I know how to play.
This is a great one for sure. I appreciate you watching and wish you the best on your guitar journey. Persistence is the key to success!
Thanks. Bought my first guitar on new year and 3 months into it now.
