One thing I glossed over was Murray's great performance making into into the Top 10 Shootout - outstanding effort by the wildcard!

They need to overhaul the format ASAP. In my opinion Friday should have 2x 30min practice, Saturday 2x normal quali sessions and 2x sprint races (1 CPS) then Sunday normal quali into Top 10 Shootout into a long race (2 stop minimum). Just have to make sure the supports still get enough time on track to make it worth their while even showing up.

RE the 'crowding' query by T8 - Sounds like there is a re-think of the rule being considered, where on shorter tracks the interval between a car finishing a lap and the next car being released might be lengthened. And despite everyone thinking it's a little bit ott, isn't it better to query it now when there isn't much on the line, than when it is a serious championship situation?

Fully agree it's worth questioning and fixing the vagueness in the rules. I just felt Red Bull didn't need to request a formal investigation for this incident. Feels like it could have been discussed post-event with a view to enforce better in the future.
Then again, an official investigation request might be the only way to get rules properly looked at - which I respect if that was the motivation.

Firstly RedBull did not lodge a formal protest, it was just a question sent by Dutto. Based on what was said the rule says you can’t impede another driver on a shootout lap, which is pretty vague. Will didn’t have an issue with it and based on his comments neither did JW.
As I said for years not team has had enough consistency to compete against RedBull (888) for the championship. You have the last 2 rounds like Chaz had and still think you are a real championship contender.
I did not much of a parity issue when Chaz raced from 22nd to 5th. It seems a lot of people want to blame parity for teams poor performance. If 888 had a Mustang they would be still winning.

Fair point Chris, I wrongly called it a 'protest' but upon double-checking, it wasn't that severe. Supercars described it as "Triple Eight lodged a formal request for investigation" though, which I still feel was overkill by the team which was the main point I was trying to make.
Definitely worth closing out the loophole, but I'm not convinced they needed to go down the formal path and drag drivers before the Stewards in this particular incident 🙂
      Appreciate your thoughts as always!

Chaz was on 4 tyres vs 2 and didn't progress next day Chev has edge in acceleration on long straights but not huge with no shift cuts could still trigger tweek before dyno tests...

i think the supersprint format should be friday like what you said two 30 minute practice and saturday 20 minute qualifying , top 10 shootout and the race 150kms and sunday 15 minute practice warm up,20 minute qualifying, top 10 shootout and the race 250kms so there fuel and tyre strategy so that's my thoughts thanks.

Saturday, Chas went 4 tyres and it worked. Sunday, everybody went 4 tyres and it didn't. Saturday should be something like 2 x 1hr sprint races, or 1 x45 min race and 1x 75 min race (so that it requires different tactics) and Sunday a 2 hour race, with maybe no CPS, with fuel (not compulsory drop) deciding the strategy, and the teams deciding whether or not to change tyres. This will then put the race in the control of the teams without a contrived format. Just my 5 cents worth.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Formula Torana became Formula Commodore which became Formula Camaro. All makes are equal, its just that GM products just seem a little more equal.

Pretty decent racing last weekend, I thought! Found it interesting that Brown and Waters each seemed to take a slight step back after having raced at Sonoma (if you can call a 3rd and 2nd a step back lol), wonder if that had any bearing on their readiness for Darwin
Agree with your comments on the Supersprint format. Obviously Supercars isn't making decisions with my time zone in mind, nor should they, but I find it a bit easier to watch all the races live with this format. With 3 races, one would always be starting at a way too late time for me. This is the furthest west other than Perth, and further west = later, and they started at 1:40 for me, finishing up before 3, which is bearable lol. Plus, I generally prefer my top-tier motorsports races to be at least an hour long, so this fulfills that. I also like your suggestions for changes, as a nascar fan I can attest that less practice can lead to some mixed up fields and more comers and goers in the races, though nascar has taken that idea to a bit of an extreme haha. One thing I found worked in nascar when we had a few double-header weekends was to have the races be different enough lengths that the pit/fuel windows worked differently, thus forcing slightly different strategies between the two races.
Great video as always, and can't wait to see what you've got up next!

id like to see 2 sprints on the saturday at 50 points each then a 2 stopper on the sunday for 200 points with a tight amount of tyres, i think some smaller teams would throw everything at a sprint to get a win which would help sponsors join but its gonna make it hard for a big team like red bull to be win everything, they might get 2 wins and top 10 for example. id also keep qually normal and just have shootouts for the season opener and closer, new zealand, street tracks and bathurst

Fans can cry about the protest all they want but the fact that Dutto knew the rule book inside out and protested the incident shows why 888 are levels above the rest. They leave no stone unturned and we'd have a more competitive field if the rest of the paddock were as professional and dedicated as they are.

Yet both cars broke down on track to town and numerous issues with chassis they designed and shifters broke at Bathurst despite available update made by Erebus...

@@gerardcrabb4556 The chassis that looked nothing like the first prototype they presented to the commission? The steering rack that Erebus promised to design and had to resolve to the commercial steering rack from Italy? The same engine and aero package designed by Triple 8 that's currently dominating the series? The same car that broke down and made the top 10 shootout with a rookie on Sunday? Behave yourself with your stupid comment.

Oh shit they’re still a thing? Man I used to watch every single race now they’re so far apart I honestly don’t even bother looking for them. They’ve really managed to screw up our premier tin top racing formula.
