It's insane that the Straw Hat Pirates have become so powerful that the addition of a Warlord could very well be a mid-tier acquisition. We've come a long way from a handful of teenagers sailing in a peaceful sea on the Going Merry, that's for sure.
He equals Ace and was implied to be superior to Hordy, and completly dominating Moria. Even Kid called him a big Deal. His Bounty is still bigger as everyones except the Captains. The Question is more, if hes able to keep up, or if he stays at the Level of Introduction and the Rest just grown over him.
Sunaki1000 Considering he is much older than all of them I don’t think he will grow that much more in strength but he is still a MAJOR addition to the crew and brings so much more than just strength. I think Jinbei was commander level pre time skip and he has certainly grown in strength a little since then. And honestly Hordy should never be compared to Jinbei that’s disrespectful, Hordy is fodder and even with all those steroids Jinbei could’ve beaten him and all his officers by himself.

Like a Yakuza Style Mob Boss. There is, I belife anime Only, a Dickmessuring between Hordy using the one weak Watherattack and Jinbei copying it same Strenge. That confused me at first, specificaly cause Luffys fight was closer in the Anime, while he completly destroyed Hordy in the Manga. People often consider Ace below regular Commander, for some Reasons. And he did probably grow after he joined Whitebeard. I consider Jinbei as at least equal to Pica also DoFlamingos tops, if not as strong as a full fledged Commander. Zoro and Sanji in the other Hand, I cant see them defeating anyone higher then the Tobiroppo. King will rater face Marco, how I see it. But who knows, Zoro didnt go all out against Pica and Sanji got a massive Powerup. Sidenote, Im a big Jimbei Fan, so if anything I rater tend to overestimate him.
Those short episodes that intro the movies with the crew just chilling are some of my favorites. It's so refreshing to have them chat and fool around at sea with no WG or Yonko's bothering them.
I come from DBZ in the 90’s so for many, many years I’ve discarded power scaling as a not worthwhile topic. However, Morj and BDA have a good take on it. It’s not some arbitrary number system, or something as myopic as “X beats Y so therefore they defeat Z”, but a look a what’s been established in the lore and what characters have accomplished under that.
Oda has been putting in the work to solidify Jinbei’s place even in this arc. The first crew member he partners with is Robin. This is actually important, because it shows that he’s more of an advisor type than a lieutenant or fighter beside Luffy. Him and Robin specifically can be his intel officers
The monster trio will never break. Take the simple fact that all three of them are crazy. Zoro and Sanji go along with any of Luffy's crazy ideas and never try to stop him. Jimbe is a responsible guy with wisdom so he won't be breaking the monster trio.

Jinbei is the "wise adviser" archetype, he knows about the world and how the New World works more than the rest of the crew does, he is very strong and tactically great but that isn't his purpose in the crew and the monster trio will always be the most powerful fighters and far outgrow his league. He is there to help guide the crew both as the helmsman and as the guy that knows a lot more about the world they are pushing their way into.

I mean that in terms of their purpose in the narrative not their role on the ship, it just happens that Jinbei's role on the ship poetically relates to his role in the story unlike Sanji but anyway. Sanji is the cook, yes, but his actual narrative purpose, is mostly to be part of the monster trio and be a loyal fighter with Luffy and Zoro, that is what he spends his time doing in the story. Jinbei's purpose in the story and the reason I believe Oda is putting him into the crew is that he has a wealth of knowledge so can guide the crew in upcoming arcs with exposition about the New World etc. He isn't there to be a main fighter in the story, he is not there as the guy to grow more awesome and powerful etc. He is there to tell the crew and also the audience more about the New World and guide things that way.
Peter I disagree, jinbei hasn’t even been an official member long enough to pin down his dynamic with the crew. In WCI he was both focused on the helmsmen aspect and being a front line fighter for the straw hats, wano seems to be going to same direction with him being one of the main heavy hitters in the group as well. I’m almost certain that going forward jinbei will be needed to match up against a strong opponents in every arc. Narratively he can represent the experience/wisdom of the crew and be a main fighter just how like Sanji used to get a lot of the stealthy or planning things along with being a fighter. Or Zoro getting a lot of the Vice captain type roles and being a fighter.
@@mishoa1 You could well be right, perhaps I am jumping the gun, it is just a theory of mine. I just feel like he will fight in the same way that Brook, Robin and Franky fight, rather than how the trio do. As in, he will fight if he is needed but I don't think he will be part of the top tier guys, going in first with full fury to kick buns, not the main stage fighters basically. I see him more of a permanent Law-esque figure, planning, giving information as the wise man with a cool head. It just fits the pre-established character more I think than him being part of the true heavy hitters. We will see how it goes when we get there... in a few years from now. If you are right, I'll buy you a beer.
The only thing with the east blue dynamic is I find people take Usopp being the weakest as Usopp being the least capable when the opposite is true. Usopp's role throughout the series has increasingly been despite being the weakest straight up fighter he consistently steps up to make some of the biggest plays in the crew which was finally reflected in his Dressrosa bounty. I feel like Usopp will continue to see stuff like that and be one of the most famous straw hats in the end which makes sense as Usopp doesn't have some grand goal he's basically just trying to be the best pirate he can be despite his weaknesses.

In the first few minutes you've made me realize something that isn't touched upon often. It's not Luffy and Zoro. It's Luffy, Zoro, *and* Sanji. So often I see people talking about Luffy and Zoro, and then Sanji's an afterthought (how strong is he compared to Zoro and such). People put emphasis on Zoro's loyalty and crap but you pointed it out here. It's not just Zoro picking up when Luffy can't. It's Zoro and Sanji. Even if Zoro was first, Sanji tried to do the same thing Zoro did in Thriller Bark against Kuma. So I gotta thank you for that. It was so simple. And I was well aware that the Monster Trio existed but people put far more emphasis on Zoro being Luffy's first-mate because Sanji's official role on the crew is the cook.
Sanji always has really good moments through out the series but some people just ignore those moments cuz most of them are not fighting related or something Luffy and Zoro moments overshadowed those moments. Everyone remember Zoro sacrificed and took Luffy's pain but they forget Sanji going do the same...Even I seen some people say (Sanji would die if he took Luffy's pain but I don't how it's important if he lives or die cuz the main point is, he ready to sacrificed his life for his crew and for his captain). For those people I have a question... Tell me if Zoro die after talking Luffy's pain then that make is sacrificed meaningless or more impactfull
@Please Banme Sanji looks way weaker than because Oda makes it seem that way let's be honest he hasn't defeated one person of note and when he finally got his change to shine against page one. Oda makes page one get right back up with no damage while Sanji runs away
In regards to the "power structure of the Yonko crews having three commanders": people seem to forget, that it was specifically emphasized that Big Mom had four commanders, until a few weeks before the Straw Hats infiltration, so the argument of having three commanders does not apply. Also Whitebeard had something like 14 commanders; but people only seem to focus on the 1st, 3rd and 5th commanders, for some inexplicable reason..
Also jinbei and luffy's dynamic really is different from the one he has with sanji & zoro. I also think that the fact jinbei joined will let sanji shine more, since he'll less have to worry about the safety of the rest and more focus on his spy/mrprince gimmick, which will be great (like the role jinbei took when luffy jumped through the mirror was basically the same as sanji with the curly hats, maybe with a little less leadership but that's because it was new).
Dudes the perfect covert team would be Sanji, Brook ( he's silent and fast, and he has done it already on Whole cake) and Robin (remember that she used to be an assassin and how effective she could collect information about Orochi plus the fact that her DF is basically built for sneak attacks and retrieving stuff)

They work pretty well, with Sanji giving the order around, Robin & Brook both utilise Ear-Eye Growth and Soul Extension, and Law provides information. Stampede is basically a fan service that we all want to see 😁
They've already gotten big power ups. We just haven't seen the full extent of them. They might get another but right now we don't know what they're capable of as it is.

jimbei was the one who stopped akainu's attack to protect luffy from akainu. he also shielded luffy with his own body. jimbei has helped luffy more than anyone else in the entire series.
ODA portraits zoro and sanji as the two hands of luffy and he will never change that. After the time skip more people says that there are no monster trio like before but they forget that we are in the first act of the new world. This first act will be completed in Wano arc. If you see the travel of zoro and sanji in new world from fishman island to wano you will see that these two guys are the most important after luffy. They beated a pacifista in sabaody like luffy, they protected luffy in fishman island as he was walking to Hody Jones, they fellow two different roads in fights till wano (zoro was fighting against weak opponents, as sanji had clashes against very strong opponents) so we are not aware about their powers till the final fights in wano...they had the longest time to see each other and they met in the middle of a battle when we see all the crew together again...and they were the most wanted men in wano from kaido's men (as the ronin zorojuro and the soba mask)

i love how oda always emphasises on things like the monster trio, zoro being the unspoken first mate, his loyalty to his captain, and other stuff that makes the fans love the straw hats dynamic. when he put the "we three need to split up" at the sabaody arc, he knew exactly what he was doing. and what even better is that we know he is not just doing it because he knows what people want, but simply because he likes it as well. he loves these characters so much. it's like playing with superhero toys with yourself, and that's what he does with the monster trio
Even thematically having the rest of the crew leaving Baratie was symbolizing the “second” first crew member. Doubled down by stripping Luffy down to a barely sea worthy Dingy, just him and Sanji.
What’s even more, you shouldn’t even use the “bounty” argument for Jimbei either. When Robin was introduced, her bounty was higher than even Zoro’s at the time. So, Jimbei’s bounty currently being second highest in the crew is not indicative of him changing the dynamic of the Monster Trio

I just find it funny how Sanji is destined to never have the second highest bounty in the crew. For the longest time he had the fourth highest one and just when it seemed like he is gonna have the second highest one, surpassing Zoro, Jimbei joins the crew with his 470M bounty and drops him back to third place XD
Real talk though, Robin SHOULD still have a higher bounty than Zoro and even Jinbe, she's still the biggest offender of the "threat level to the world govt/their agenda" requirement lol. Mad they just threw 1mil on her after Enies Lobby like she forgot how to read poneglyphs or something. Her personal goals directly go against them the most still. I would only say to keep it lower than Luffy's cause Captain and all that.
Plus, Let's talk about the roles they are given. Say, they get in a fight on Sea. Sanji (Cook) is free at that moment to jump off the ship and fight and Zoro is basically an all-time fighter guy. Whereas Jinbe is supposed to be the Helmsman. He can't leave the Helm and start fighting. That'd be absurd. What he can do is support the Trio by handling the ship and make sure Sunny isn't damaged while the Trio is going CRAZY!
Franky or anybody else really can take over while Jinbei fights. The reason Jinbei is necessary as helmsman is for dangerous situations where the sunny needs to be maneuvered from powerful attacks/hazardous weather. Plus, he can still be one of the main fighters, it's just he stays on the ship to protect everyone.
Completely agree with your arguement. Jinbei's strength is at its peak by one piece age standards and his graph isn't going to increase any more. Meanwhile zoro luffy and sanji are still very young and have much to gain.
@@abc1234567a1 that could be true. One could say he's nearing his peak but no one can deny that luffy, zoro, sanji, ussopp etc are far from their maximum potential. Jimbei could always become stronger but not nearly as much as the rest of the crew strictly in terms of growth. Imo jimbei's role as a strawhat is literally and figuratively as the helmsman and not a frontier fighter like the monster trio.
Kinda unrelated but I'd like to see more characters joining Kidd and Law's crews, especially Law because they all feel so underwhelming except Killer, Bepo, Jean-Bart and Heat kinda which really makes seems a unbalanced for rival crews, a big part of me has a hard time thinking these guys could ever in a million years beat the strawhats to Laugh Tale. A nice addition in my opinion is to have Yamato join up with Kidd or Law instead because then at the very least we could possibly see them as competitors for who will get to the final island first and it's a massive power boost to their respective crews to equal Jimbe joining the strawhats at the beginning of the raid. But that's me I feel like they should be perfectly balanced as all things should be.
Yamato is definitely joining the Straw Hats and that’s for the best since she needs an actual story. What Kidd and Law need are characters like the Tobbi Roppo or something, people who exist just for their strength and don’t need to be explored. Maybe even Jack? Or Hawkins. I agree with you tho, if Oda actually wants us to see these crews as Luffys rival they need something on him. He has a fleet and a better crew, Law has a Bepo? Kidd has Killer and maybe Heat and Wire (who have done nothing) but nothing else. Of course if Oda isn’t actually planning any rivalry here then none of this matters.

Everything you said makes sense. Character power relative to story progression, growth potential, and parallels to other crews. Jinbei is bound to meet a similar fate as Franky and Robin. There's just one potential Strawhat candidate you entirely forgot about that would throw the Monster Trio dynamic on its head: The epitome of high potential, the legend, *Sogeking,* rejoining the crew.
Then again, him joining would make little sense. Oda probably made him leave the crew _precisely because_ his power level clearly clashed with the monster trio, destroying this pivotal dynamic.
Its not because Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are the og's... its because they are the pillars of HAKI (*Luffy* - will power, aspirations to be strong and protect, and a sense to rise above all, to become KING. *Zoro* - will power, drive, and the ambition to become the absolute STRONGEST. *Sanji* - determination, a dream, and a sense of GENTALMENCY.) These three are inseparable!

But it is interesting this is the guy that claims Oda hates Sanji somehow, and yet here he's saying Sanji will never be replaced in the Monster Trio, tjhis guy can't have it both ways . For the record I have no issue having the Monster Trio become a monster Quartet and shaking up the status quo is something Oda loves doing so if he feels it's time for that dynamic to be shaken up he's going to do it.

Jinbe probably won't get stronger than he is now. Luffy, Zoro and Sanji get more powerful every time they're on panel. edit: caught up to the bit where you hit that point. Yup.
Him not getting stronger is baseless. Jinbe isn't even in his prime yet considering oda himself said humans live to about 140 and we have no reason to believe fishmen don't share lifespans.

Would you expect Marco, if he were to join the SHs, to suddenly begin an upward curve of power? It would be weird. A little off topic, but while I’m glad jinbe joined the crew I hated how long it took for him to even join. Oda should’ve just let him join during whole cake island
Narratively it was probably better off he was this late to joining to be fair, since we saw with Kawamatsu, Fishmen stick out in Wano, and Jinbe would be quite the stand out figure around, so to keep things under wraps regarding the plans and stuff he really wouldnt have been able to be active anyways.
People seem to forget that Sanji was the acting captain for like a third of the crew for like two years’ worth of chapters. It’s sort of insane to think that he’d be permanently displaced by Jinbe when being third in command is literally such a core part of his character that it’s built into his name. Also idk how people overlook the fact that Jinbe was only incorporated into the full crew after Zoro and Sanji received significant new additions to their fighting styles and were given a couple of weeks to figure things out. While both of these were sort of obtained in “rough” forms (Zoro received a non-blackened Enma and Sanji a raid-suit that he wanted heavily modified respectively) I think it’s more than clear that even if Jinbe is stronger than them now they both have plenty of room to grow in Wano (and in all honesty should walk away from this arc approaching “commander level”, as from here on they’ll be up against nothing but top-tiers) The way I see it Jinbe’s role in the story has always been that of someone Luffy can consistently depend on in a way that differs from Sanji’s last-minute saves or Zoro’s enduring sense of trust. During his introduction Ace literally told Jinbe to look after Luffy. Then he saved Luffy’s life at Marineford and helped him come to terms with Ace’s death. He gave Luffy a blood transfusion on fishman island. He stayed behind to hold off the Big Mom pirates so Luffy could escape. And now as an official crew member his role in combat will probably be dedicated to enemies who are too strong for Usopp/Nani/Chopper but not powerful enough to be used as a vehicle for Sanji or Zoro to meaningfully progress. Jinbe’s role up until this point has been as a reliable person for Luffy and the others to fall back on, and I feel like this implies that the challenges Oda writes for him will be more about being able to clear needless obstacles and support his friends in new ways rather than brute force progression.
The moment you explain that the strawhats should be compared to rogers crew who had a right and left hand i could almost hear the mic drop. You are astonishingly good at taking such a complex story, making it simple, and then conveying your thoughts to a wide audience. It's a skill that you should be proud of. This makes me think much as jimbe has joined we should get some characterization of him just like with Robin and Franky. I feel like we know a lot about him but at the same time we don't. Curious to see his interactions with Big Mom.

God I see your point but you misunderstand mine it’s less about his age and more about his skill ceiling he is much closer to his peak then Zoro and Sanji hence they have a lot more room for growth than jimbe does.

I think Jimbei will be a bit of a mentor and a source of wisdom for the crew seeing as how he’s middle aged and a veteran of the new world , and I also see him keeping everyone together while the monster trio go out and do their thing as bit of logistics role or a “vice captain” role and yea I know that belongs to zoro but there is no official role of the vice so Jimbei could fill that role in when needed with the weaker members like with whole Cake Island
Depending on how the story goes, Jinbe could be part of a “Dynamic Duo” with Robin. They’re the most seasoned, and mature of the group. I think those 2 have a unique niche in the crew.
Jinbe is a way more experienced and stronger fighter and pirate, I don't they belong in the same class AT ALL. Robin is mature and really smart and her skillset is quite different.
Robin has the same role in paradise just as jimbei is to the new world. Robin has many knowledge about pirates and the world but was replaced by jimbei in the new world which makes sense since he has FAR more experience. Robin in the other hand, was given another significant role of reading poneglyph. It is not much but it is implied that SH will not be the pirate king without robin

Even pre-skip he was building extremely impressive technology, and post-skip he's been able to understand and reproduce Vegapunk tech and incorporate it into his designs. He's not an idiot by any stretch.

Oda said around the time of Dressrosa that he sees Luffy, Sanji and Zoro about equal in strenght...I don't think people overestimate Jinbe and Yamato, I think people really underestimate Zoro and Sanji. We know both of them (especially Zoro) have not shown their true powers yet/were'nt put in a "real" fight since the friggin time-skip...that fact alone let's me think there will be a huge payoff for both of them
I saw someone point out that while Luffy fights the strongest, Zoro fights the second strongest, and Sanji fights the third strongest, Luffy always has the most difficulty while Sanji has the least difficulty, with Zoro in the middle. I think this is Oda's way of establishing a power dynamic and hierarchy, but also showing that they are similar in strength.

Jimbei is the only one who is so obsessed with Luffy, and he never needed Luffy's saving/ help. Plus, his addition to the crew will dilute the already limited attention to the other straw hats. Honestly, there's hardly going to be any growth for Jimbei, and I don't look forward to his growth at all. I was absolutely disappointed when Oda made Jimbei part of the crew. Carrot is at least more interesting...

Even Though ussop is portrayed as the weakest or one of the weakest strawhats. He's always with Zoro and sanji as in terms of Potential. To me Oda makes him the weakest because he has the weakest mindset. but in reality Ussop will become the 4th strongest in terms of Skill. He unlocked his observation and you would think that He would atleast learn to control it. I think that Ussop will gain a 2 Boosts in the same arc in the future and that Will be Mastery of his basic Observation haki and A New Weapon that Compliments His Pop greens and maybe sea stone Bullets. Something more Manly like a Mini Sniper. This will help Provide more character development to ussop and help him gain Confidence as the Support fighter
jinbei will get left behind by zoro and sanji, both robin and franky were presented as strong characters and then just took a backseat to the monster trio after joining the straw hats

Jinbei could be the default 4th strongest guy. I mean, he’s most likely going to match against Jack as fishman vs fishman. While Sanji will fight Queen, another Okama like character. Then Zoro will fight another swordsman in King. And Luffy will fight Kaido. OG Monster Trio still intact.
This makes perfect sense, not sure if Jinbei will fight Jack, but definitely things are going to go in the order of Luffy vs the strongest antagonist of the arc with Zoro Sanji and Jinbei fighting the respective steps down

This is actually important, because it shows that he’s more of an advisor type than a lieutenant or fighter beside Luffy. Him and Robin specifically can be his intel officers

Jinbei is the "wise adviser" archetype, he knows about the world and how the New World works more than the rest of the crew does, he is very strong and tactically great but that isn't his purpose in the crew and the monster trio will always be the most powerful fighters and far outgrow his league. He is there to help guide the crew both as the helmsman and as the guy that knows a lot more about the world they are pushing their way into.
Sanji is there to be a cook, not a fighter by your logic he should stay below jinbei.

I mean that in terms of their purpose in the narrative not their role on the ship, it just happens that Jinbei's role on the ship poetically relates to his role in the story unlike Sanji but anyway. Sanji is the cook, yes, but his actual narrative purpose, is mostly to be part of the monster trio and be a loyal fighter with Luffy and Zoro, that is what he spends his time doing in the story. Jinbei's purpose in the story and the reason I believe Oda is putting him into the crew is that he has a wealth of knowledge so can guide the crew in upcoming arcs with exposition about the New World etc. He isn't there to be a main fighter in the story, he is not there as the guy to grow more awesome and powerful etc. He is there to tell the crew and also the audience more about the New World and guide things that way.
Peter I disagree, jinbei hasn’t even been an official member long enough to pin down his dynamic with the crew. In WCI he was both focused on the helmsmen aspect and being a front line fighter for the straw hats, wano seems to be going to same direction with him being one of the main heavy hitters in the group as well. I’m almost certain that going forward jinbei will be needed to match up against a strong opponents in every arc. Narratively he can represent the experience/wisdom of the crew and be a main fighter just how like Sanji used to get a lot of the stealthy or planning things along with being a fighter. Or Zoro getting a lot of the Vice captain type roles and being a fighter.

I just feel like he will fight in the same way that Brook, Robin and Franky fight, rather than how the trio do. As in, he will fight if he is needed but I don't think he will be part of the top tier guys, going in first with full fury to kick buns, not the main stage fighters basically. I see him more of a permanent Law-esque figure, planning, giving information as the wise man with a cool head. It just fits the pre-established character more I think than him being part of the true heavy hitters. We will see how it goes when we get there... in a few years from now. The only thing with the east blue dynamic is I find people take Usopp being the weakest as Usopp being the least capable when the opposite is true. Usopp's role throughout the series has increasingly been despite being the weakest straight up fighter he consistently steps up to make some of the biggest plays in the crew which was finally reflected in his Dressrosa bounty. I feel like Usopp will continue to see stuff like that and be one of the most famous straw hats in the end which makes sense as Usopp doesn't have some grand goal he's basically just trying to be the best pirate he can be despite his weaknesses.
Usopp is the weakest in a straight up encounter but him being a sniper makes him one of the most powerful members.

In the first few minutes you've made me realize something that isn't touched upon often. It's not Luffy and Zoro. It's Luffy, Zoro, *and* Sanji. So often I see people talking about Luffy and Zoro, and then Sanji's an afterthought (how strong is he compared to Zoro and such). People put emphasis on Zoro's loyalty and crap but you pointed it out here. It's not just Zoro picking up when Luffy can't. It's Zoro and Sanji. Even if Zoro was first, Sanji tried to do the same thing Zoro did in Thriller Bark against Kuma.
So I gotta thank you for that. It was so simple. And I was well aware that the Monster Trio existed but people put far more emphasis on Zoro being Luffy's first-mate because Sanji's official role on the crew is the cook.
Sanji always has really good moments through out the series but some people just ignore those moments cuz most of them are not fighting related or something Luffy and Zoro moments overshadowed those moments.
Everyone remember Zoro sacrificed and took Luffy's pain but they forget Sanji going do the same...Even I seen some people say (Sanji would die if he took Luffy's pain but I don't how it's important if he lives or die cuz the main point is, he ready to sacrificed his life for his crew and for his captain).
For those people I have a question...

In regards to the "power structure of the Yonko crews having three commanders": people seem to forget, that it was specifically emphasized that Big Mom had four commanders, until a few weeks before the Straw Hats infiltration, so the argument of having three commanders does not apply.
Also Whitebeard had something like 14 commanders; but people only seem to focus on the 1st, 3rd and 5th commanders, for some inexplicable reason..
Also jinbei and luffy's dynamic really is different from the one he has with sanji & zoro.
I also think that the fact jinbei joined will let sanji shine more, since he'll less have to worry about the safety of the rest and more focus on his spy/mrprince gimmick, which will be great (like the role jinbei took when luffy jumped through the mirror was basically the same as sanji with the curly hats, maybe with a little less leadership but that's because it was new).
Dudes the perfect covert team would be Sanji, Brook ( he's silent and fast, and he has done it already on Whole cake) and Robin (remember that she used to be an assassin and how effective she could collect information about Orochi plus the fact that her DF is basically built for sneak attacks and retrieving stuff)

They work pretty well, with Sanji giving the order around, Robin & Brook both utilise Ear-Eye Growth and Soul Extension, and Law provides information.
Stampede is basically a fan service that we all want to see 😁

If you see the travel of zoro and sanji in new world from fishman island to wano you will see that these two guys are the most important after luffy. They beated a pacifista in sabaody like luffy, they protected luffy in fishman island as he was walking to Hody Jones, they fellow two different roads in fights till wano (zoro was fighting against weak opponents, as sanji had clashes against very strong opponents) so we are not aware about their powers till the final fights in wano...they had the longest time to see each other and they met in the middle of a battle when we see all the crew together again...and they were the most wanted men in wano from kaido's men (as the ronin zorojuro and the soba mask)

I just find it funny how Sanji is destined to never have the second highest bounty in the crew. For the longest time he had the fourth highest one and just when it seemed like he is gonna have the second highest one, surpassing Zoro, Jimbei joins the crew with his 470M bounty and drops him back to third place XD
Real talk though, Robin SHOULD still have a higher bounty than Zoro and even Jinbe, she's still the biggest offender of the "threat level to the world govt/their agenda" requirement lol. Plus, Let's talk about the roles they are given. Say, they get in a fight on Sea. Sanji (Cook) is free at that moment to jump off the ship and fight and Zoro is basically an all-time fighter guy. Whereas Jinbe is supposed to be the Helmsman. He can't leave the Helm and start fighting. That'd be absurd. What he can do is support the Trio by handling the ship and make sure Sunny isn't damaged while the Trio is going CRAZY!
Franky or anybody else really can take over while Jinbei fights. The reason Jinbei is necessary as helmsman is for dangerous situations where the sunny needs to be maneuvered from powerful attacks/hazardous weather. Plus, he can still be one of the main fighters, it's just he stays on the ship to protect everyone.

Kinda unrelated but I'd like to see more characters joining Kidd and Law's crews, especially Law because they all feel so underwhelming except Killer, Bepo, Jean-Bart and Heat kinda which really makes seems a unbalanced for rival crews, a big part of me has a hard time thinking these guys could ever in a million years beat the strawhats to Laugh Tale. A nice addition in my opinion is to have Yamato join up with Kidd or Law instead because then at the very least we could possibly see them as competitors for who will get to the final island first and it's a massive power boost to their respective crews to equal Jimbe joining the strawhats at the beginning of the raid.
But that's me I feel like they should be perfectly balanced as all things should be.

Yamato is definitely joining the Straw Hats and that’s for the best since she needs an actual story. What Kidd and Law need are characters like the Tobbi Roppo or something, people who exist just for their strength and don’t need to be explored. Maybe even Jack? Or Hawkins.
I agree with you tho, if Oda actually wants us to see these crews as Luffys rival they need something on him. He has a fleet and a better crew, Law has a Bepo? Kidd has Killer and maybe Heat and Wire (who have done nothing) but nothing else. Of course if Oda isn’t actually planning any rivalry here then none of this matters.

Agreed. Most of these new one piece youtubers are relatively new to the game. So they don't have the foresight nor hindsight of someone whose been apart of the game for many years.

There's just one potential Strawhat candidate you entirely forgot about that would throw the Monster Trio dynamic on its head:

Then again, him joining would make little sense.
Oda probably made him leave the crew _precisely because_ his power level clearly clashed with the monster trio, destroying this pivotal dynamic.

I’ve said this for a while. Jinbei was too strong to join the Strawhats during Fishman Island. It makes sense that he’d join officially once Zoro and Sanji leveled up a bit.

Would you expect Marco, if he were to join the SHs, to suddenly begin an upward curve of power? It would be weird. Yamato on the other hand I could see joining and getting more powerful as the story progresses, because she hasn't begun her journey.

Zoro and Sanji needed to get an upgrade first before Oda could let Jinbei in otherwise they will just get overshadowed strengthwise by Jinbei.

Narratively it was probably better off he was this late to joining to be fair, since we saw with Kawamatsu, Fishmen stick out in Wano, and Jinbe would be quite the stand out figure around, so to keep things under wraps regarding the plans and stuff he really wouldnt have been able to be active anyways.
People seem to forget that Sanji was the acting captain for like a third of the crew for like two years’ worth of chapters. It’s sort of insane to think that he’d be permanently displaced by Jinbe when being third in command is literally such a core part of his character that it’s built into his name.
Also idk how people overlook the fact that Jinbe was only incorporated into the full crew after Zoro and Sanji received significant new additions to their fighting styles and were given a couple of weeks to figure things out. While both of these were sort of obtained in “rough” forms (Zoro received a non-blackened Enma and Sanji a raid-suit that he wanted heavily modified respectively) I think it’s more than clear that even if Jinbe is stronger than them now they both have plenty of room to grow in Wano (and in all honesty should walk away from this arc approaching “commander level”, as from here on they’ll be up against nothing but top-tiers)
The way I see it Jinbe’s role in the story has always been that of someone Luffy can consistently depend on in a way that differs from Sanji’s last-minute saves or Zoro’s enduring sense of trust. During his introduction Ace literally told Jinbe to look after Luffy. Then he saved Luffy’s life at Marineford and helped him come to terms with Ace’s death. He gave Luffy a blood transfusion on fishman island. He stayed behind to hold off the Big Mom pirates so Luffy could escape. And now as an official crew member his role in combat will probably be dedicated to enemies who are too strong for Usopp/Nani/Chopper but not powerful enough to be used as a vehicle for Sanji or Zoro to meaningfully progress. Jinbe’s role up until this point has been as a reliable person for Luffy and the others to fall back on, and I feel like this implies that the challenges Oda writes for him will be more about being able to clear needless obstacles and support his friends in new ways rather than brute force progression.

I think Jimbei will be a bit of a mentor and a source of wisdom for the crew seeing as how he’s middle aged and a veteran of the new world , and I also see him keeping everyone together while the monster trio go out and do their thing as bit of logistics role or a “vice captain” role and yea I know that belongs to zoro but there is no official role of the vice so Jimbei could fill that role in when needed with the weaker members like with whole Cake Island

It really comes down to the Monster Trio's desire to win. The Ability to never give up. Also the Monster Trio is just stronger.
Zoro and sanji are two subordinates closer to their captain, as opposed to 3 subordinates far away from their captain.

Depending on how the story goes, Jinbe could be part of a “Dynamic Duo” with Robin.
They’re the most seasoned, and mature of the group. I think those 2 have a unique niche in the crew.
Jinbe is a way more experienced and stronger fighter and pirate, I don't they belong in the same class AT ALL.
Robin is mature and really smart and her skillset is quite different.
Robin has the same role in paradise just as jimbei is to the new world. Robin has many knowledge about pirates and the world but was replaced by jimbei in the new world which makes sense since he has FAR more experience. Robin in the other hand, was given another significant role of reading poneglyph. It is not much but it is implied that SH will not be the pirate king without robin

Oda said around the time of Dressrosa that he sees Luffy, Sanji and Zoro about equal in strenght...I don't think people overestimate Jinbe and Yamato, I think people really underestimate Zoro and Sanji. We know both of them (especially Zoro) have not shown their true powers yet/were'nt put in a "real" fight since the friggin time-skip...that fact alone let's me think there will be a huge payoff for both of them
I saw someone point out that while Luffy fights the strongest, Zoro fights the second strongest, and Sanji fights the third strongest, Luffy always has the most difficulty while Sanji has the least difficulty, with Zoro in the middle. I think this is Oda's way of establishing a power dynamic and hierarchy, but also showing that they are similar in strength.

I've been avoiding your channel and videos even though they were being recommended all the time. After seeing this video, I am now a fan. Very well said! I don't know why Jimbei is so glorified. Those who argue against the original monster trio should think twice.
Jimbei is the only one who is so obsessed with Luffy, and he never needed Luffy's saving/ help. Plus, his addition to the crew will dilute the already limited attention to the other straw hats. Honestly, there's hardly going to be any growth for Jimbei, and I don't look forward to his growth at all. I was absolutely disappointed when Oda made Jimbei part of the crew. Carrot is at least more interesting...

Even Though ussop is portrayed as the weakest or one of the weakest strawhats. He's always with Zoro and sanji as in terms of Potential. To me Oda makes him the weakest because he has the weakest mindset. but in reality Ussop will become the 4th strongest in terms of Skill. He unlocked his observation and you would think that He would atleast learn to control it. I think that Ussop will gain a 2 Boosts in the same arc in the future and that Will be Mastery of his basic Observation haki and A New Weapon that Compliments His Pop greens and maybe sea stone Bullets. Something more Manly like a Mini Sniper. This will help Provide more character development to ussop and help him gain Confidence as the Support fighter
jinbei will get left behind by zoro and sanji, both robin and franky were presented as strong characters and then just took a backseat to the monster trio after joining the straw hats
