Excellent video, and some of the best Jaeger/Skua footage I have found. A reminder to North American birders that what this video calls Arctic Skua we call Parasitic Jaeger. Pomarine and Long-Tailed Skua's are also called Jaegers. Most of the points about Great Skua would also be good for South Arctic Skua.

+Josh Adams Yep, have to agree with you. I understand Great Skua is encountered in The States as a vagrant as well.

South Polar Skua's off the Canada's east coast can be cause an identification issue. They are often seen off the ferries.

@@BTOvideo There are a pair of Pomarines in the East Midlands. I see them regularly. Is this unusual for Skuas?

I love these videos. On the American east coast, you'd also have to separate Great Skua from South Polar Skua which is very similar. I'm surprised South Polar Skua isn't seen off the coast of Europe as well. In the US and Canada, the name "Jaeger" is used for the three smaller species with Arctic Skua being called "Parasitic Jaeger".

I remember in Kirkwall,Orkney seeing a huge raft of gulls in the harbour with about an 8ft diameter hole in the middle,at the centre of that hole was a solitary bonxie,the gulls giving it a wide berth.
