Also the underwing patterns are wildly different. That is another great way to tell them apart in any plumage.

I live in Ontario Canada and hear the laughing gulls every day at work. I've looked through my monocular and it definitely looks like the laughing gull. They just float around on the lake all day making their weird noises. Lol
