wow I live in Honolulu too and recently looking for my own little place, the way you use the space in a studio is making me considering having a studio too lol

In many ways it is better - it's larger and it stays pretty cool inside during the daytime.

This apartment is definitely bigger and technically "nicer", but yours seems a LOT more comfortable and homey than his.

Do you have any problems with spiders or other bugs?

Do you know of a studio/apartment for short term rental (2 weeks)? I want to visit Hawaii, but hotels are expensive.

This studio does seem bigger & some of the "features" are interesting ...the bathroom & the large boulder. But the first one had a nicer yard. Even if you didn't get to have a lawn chair or something, the greenery right outside was nice. I think I like the first better. Out of curiosity, though, about how much is the rent on both these two places?

I think both places are good. This studio (#2) is $75 cheaper - and like twice as big. Studio (#1) is in a better area (in my opinion) and has better parking. I'd rather not post the actual rent amount. To get a good idea of cost just go to craigslist and search - Hawaii - Honolulu - Oahu - studio apartment.

Sorry 2yrs is a long time to wait for an answer. Hawaii is EXTREMELY EXSPENSIVE. My guess this is afordable housing in not so great area this building is at least 50 yrs old if not older i can tell by just looking at it. Even a friend of mine who rents a home i notice it is very generic architecture. I grew up in Chicago and i was not used to seeing these concrete square homes with no details. Rather depressing. The gardens can make up for it. But yes reminds me of 3rd world country.
