No. It isn't worth 90K. You can't charge 90K for a car with a Megane engine just because you took the rear window out. Honestly, if it was your own money, would you? No. You'd buy the 110S and save a ton of cash, or buy a Cayman GT4. End of. Put the rear window back, lose the carbon wheels, give it 400 horsepower and undercut the Evora. Now that's a car.
every a110 could have been among the greatest sports cars ever build but, the board of directors, who can't drive a manual rwd, to save their lives, decided that automatics are the way to go... and nothing has changed in the last 5 years or so..., beside, the same board of directors killing one of the best relatively affordable sports brand on the market.. RenaultSport. No one should buy their cars just out of spite against the stu.p.idity of renault's management.
Well you can pay more for a Mini or an Escort built in a shed here in the UK,which puts this in perspective pricewise, its for drivers not people who think 'French' cars are somehow inferior🤣
Wonderfully beautifully shot and produced video. I loved the comparison over some 30 plus years and a whole other world of automotive capability and the ridiculously expensive "modern" interpretation, you start to forgive the modernity of the Purosangue but, and it is a realistic but, is it a demonstration of nothing exceeds quite like excess? Did the original and even the trip made by Car ever need to happen and therefore was there a need for the follow-up? That's not a question for me to answer but more so you as the audience.
If you can afford it …. and you really want one …. Then it probably is worth £90K. The residuals will be pretty good and even fairly mundane campers cost £70k plus these days.

Not a bad idea, but in all honesty by the time you spec the bigger brakes, the stiffer anti-roll bar, the adjustable shocks and aero, you are normally getting close to an R price anyway. The R does come with a LOT of track specification parts and is not simply more expensive because it has carbon. The weight saving is a factor and those carbon bits do cost money, but a lot of expense has gone on the carbon wheels and the fully adjustable suspension as well as the brake system (no warping on these disks on the track - unlike the standard car). There are a lot of fine details changed on this car to make it the natural progression from the 'S' with aero. You can, obviously take a base model of ANY car and add the bits to bring it up to the spec of a 'competition' version, but often it is going to take a lot of decision making and research to come up with the right combination of parts that suit you. The ethos of this car is a lightweight track/road car; the focus being on the lightweight. Alpine achieve this very well. You cannot dump a manual box and a six cylinder into an Alpine and expect it to work the same way - you basically might as well just go for a Lotus or Porsche (which is exactly what you are looking for if you want the weight, cylinders and manual box). It would increase the weight and stuff the handling into the bargain for a package that is available in the Emira and GT4. Most of the BMW and Porsche crew are used to heavyweight cars and think 1.6 tonnes is 'light' (bear in mind that quoted weights for a GT4 are always a little 'lighter' that the actual weight with your options and a full tank of fuel!) The weight of an Alpine is WITH a full tank of fuel and all the trimmings (they haven't been to the Italian school of fabricated figures 🤣) If you want a relatively heavyweight Sports car, at the GT end of the market, then the Alpine is not for you . However I would caution against dismissing a four pot lightweight at £90k until you have driven one - it is a simply a stunning drive and quite unlike anything else... in a really good way!
I think the car that everybody wants doesn’t exist and can’t exist. One with a sonorous engine, high power, low weight yet still with liveability and doesn’t cost a fortune that is a joy to drive on both public road and track. A compromise has to be made somewhere. What compromise can you live without? Short of spending a few million on a GMA, something has to be sacrificed.
I think you are right. The engine and gearbox are not the issue. The Alpine Uses a Getrag 7DCT300 gearbox and double clutch. The limiting factor is the double clutch. Getrag rate it to 300Nm (hence the name!). Many people have dumped a LOT more through it (400Nm) and the only thing that gets reported is that standing starts can result in a 'bit of clutch slip'. The problem with this is that the people doing this sort of thing are also trying to sell tuning services or pushing there own cars. Everything they say has to be taken with a large pinch of salt because no one ever admits they fried their clutch in 200 miles 🤣 The issue from Alpine could be that they don't want to take a punt on the cost of gearbox warranties when they can leave well alone. It wouldn't take much of a percentage of premature failures to start costing lots of money. Alpine have gone down the other route of better running gear, suspension and less weight on the R My personal opinion is that changing the power curve to give a consistent/flatter delivery of the power whilst limiting the output to 300Nm is going to be a good way forward. Do I think an extra 20Nm would be worth it and safe - probably!

Forget about the £90k price tag. All people need is an ND MX5 with slightly tighter damping. Maybe also more steering feel with a more aggressive wheel alignment and PU bushings
I find it peculiar that it doesn't have a LSD. I would think that at ~300 hp it would definitely benefit from one. Does anyone know why then didn't include it?

The S and R are epic and I would choose them over the too soft base model. Body roll is not acceptable for performance driving, and you can have a car with minimal body roll and compliant suspension as found in the PASM/SPASM 718s. Stop pretending like you people like roly poly cars. It's not cute.

No, the best A110 is the A110GT.
Nope. Best is the standard car. Or a Lotus Elise ;)
