My uncle let his go so bad he had to get his leg amputated from the knee down. Where he really didn’t take care of his diabetes he couldn’t even get a general anaesthetic so he had to be awake for the whole procedure. He only knew they were finished when he heard his leg drop into a bucket. He died in his 60s from it in the end poor sod
Hope you can encourage your brother to take care of his health …. I know people who’ve had toes and feet amputated and more - it’s a very serious condition 🙏

I used to work for a medical device company who made wound care products. Being on the competitor intelligence side, I got to see many pleasant diabetic ulcers - hugely unpleasant and often result in lost appendages. Your feet and legs basically die.
As for the health system, my mum with dementia had a bad fall recently and fractured a bone in her vertebrate. She needed two lots of 15 hour waits and two CT s scans before they discovered it and arranged a bed for her. The system is broken, but staff who actually tended to her were brilliant. Sack the big-wigs I say.

Oh your poor brother, hopefully he will be okay. Our health system is in shatters too, but once you get into the system, things do improve.

Martin, you are so right about the NHS. We have a drop in centre near us, at 10:00hrs there were 35 people before my daughter with two staff on duty. She gave up after two hours went home and self medicated.
Her GP surgery had no appointments for 7 days, you have to plan ahead being ill.
Least you have a drop in centre so wrong the waiting time tho we don't have one and get sent a questionnaire like form to fill in to see if you get a appointment with a doctor in my case filled it out and they sent me antibiotics for what information I gave them made the decision it was a chest infection lucky I know my own body but who say you can not lie to get want you may not want but want to get for someone else

When I went to hospital, the last time. I went for 1blood transfusion, was supposed to be straight back home afterwards. Managed to get out 8 days later.. Got fed up with poking, prodding, basically being a guinea pig. So I am now DNR, so much easier for me. I do hope your brother get all he needs Martin. He obviously does not do well on his own. Sorry to hear about your brother type diabetes it can be a real worry one year ago I was diagnosed with being prediabetic absolutely terrified me One year on I am now no longer prediabetic. Thanks to being on an incredibly low carb diet, no processed food and a minimum of 12 hour fasting and eating a healthy Mediterranean diet for me. It wasn’t difficult because I like Mediterranean diet and it’s not really a diet the fasting you pretty much do most of it through the night anyway in the morning I just try to stretch it for as long as possible and only drink black coffee, but I do appreciate some people find It difficult

Really sorry to hear about your brother, I hope he is well soon.
I spent 5-6 weeks in hospital over Christmas having had emergency surgery. I was in A&E for 24 hours and was a priority. I then got an A&E bed and eventually a bed on a ward a few hours before surgery. The Surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing staff and all other staff were truly amazing, kind, helpful and treated me with respect and dignity. I hate the system they have to work in: 12 hour shifts, a 1:6 ratio of qualified nurse to patients with only 1 nursing assistant to support that. Nursing now seems to be just a set of processes to be followed throughout each shift. And the waste is horrific, money down the drain. You are so right the system needs to change. I really support Nurses and Drs who want to take action, they deserve much better treatment.
So sorry about your brother. It must be a worry especially as he is a difficult patient. ❣🙏
I cannot fault where I stay I landed in hospital twice in the last 2years iwent to the docs they emailed my notes to the hospital when I got there they admitted me right away into the inner circle of the ane treated right away I had cellulitis started as a spot on my leg I stay in Scotland staff was geat hope you brother is ok 🐝🧵🐝

The doctors and nurses are amazing in the NHS but the system cannot accommodate the sheer volume of demand ,not enough hospitals or qualified staff , COVID didn't help 😢

I have the regular checks on my feet but when I go they won’t take my word for it they still do all the ultrasounds on them to make sure they can hear blood flow

It is sad to hear that the NHS has become what it is. Here in South Africa "3rd world country" we arent treated that way at public hospitals. Our government has just passed a bill for NHI. And well we dont want it. Because here when we phone fornan appointment with a GP we get one and are seen to. Pvt GPS and at public hospitals they triage privately in a surgery and then theynsee a doctor.

Hi not all diabetic get num feet mine became more sensitive to touch please let your views know that your diet doesn't work for everyone and that not all symptoms apply to everyone for we are all different am not saying what you said was wrong just incorrect in some cases nice to see Stacey and gray and baby Charlie and baby Frank

You are so right Martin about the system. It all changed after the pandemic with the strikes and I'm sure Brexit didn't help. People are waiting for cardiac appointments, ent, gynae appointments. BAll the pharmacies are running out of medication. It's such a shame but I know nurses and doctors do work very hard. Anyway enough rambling. Luv ya both. I've subscribed to Stacey channel and Tracey and Benji and the Ragged Apron. I've booked a holiday to woodall spa in September. I can't wait and hoping to Bump into you all xx

The weekend before last my mother in law fell and broke her hip at 01:30. Ambulance arrived at 09:00 and took her to the hospital.
She then stayed in the Ambulance until 14:00
This isn’t me slagging off the NHS at all as all the staff treated her so well, however it’s obviously over stretched especially at the weekend when bellends are throwing glasses etc.

I worked in a care home and there was a man that also neglected and ignored his diabetis started off like your brother and landed up having both legs amputated .Don’t burn yourselves out . Sorry to sound harsh but some people just won’t listen then family members suffer for it ❤

My partner has type two diabetes he has to be so careful with meds and diet , eyes and feet the doctors say with diabetes and of course diet .

Your brothers diabetic team have let him down badly. A foot check should happen at least once a year and with regular high blood sugar readings more regularly .
That said I do hope they can save his foot

When the gov says they’re spending more money on the NHS than ever what they should say is that they’re outsourcing and giving private contracts to Tory party donors. They don’t care if the NHS fails. It will give them an excuse to fully privatise it, which is what they really want.
