I'm the same when it comes to knowing sewing terms in different languages, don't know the equivalent in the other language lol. Welcome to the fashion design world! You're going to both love and hate it, but enjoy the ride. If you need help with drawing for fashion, Zoe Hong on youtube has a bunch of tutorials you can look at. Also we would call them demo's when the teacher would show the entire class how to do something. Good luck! You can do it!
I completed my 4 years in fashion designing, trust me you are going to lose a lot of sleep and just work all day and night. It's not easy but worth it.

She was studying in a japanese language institute in Tokyo for about 1 year and a half and then entered fashion college. When she came i guess she just knew a bit of hiragana or something. But she has a video talking about that or answering that kind of questions. Search for it
I just got a rapid burst of nostalgia!!! I took fashion classes during my 4 years in high school and it was SO much fun! Friends would bring clothes and I'd measure them in the girls' restroom and they'd pay me to alter it for them when I'd finish my class projects early.😂 Sadly, adulthood kicked in and I let my 2 sewing machines collect dust.
As a graduate just a heads up, be prepared for 50 sketches a week. Super interesting video especially since I've always dreamed of studying fashion in Japan

I studied textile (sewing included) for 2 years in Swedish and I still dont understand stuff xD It is a difficult subject but I'm glad it's going good for you Mikan and it is so interesting to listen to you talk about it and follow your work ^^
I used to go to FIT as a fashion design major and let me tell you it never gets easier! You may have the main techniques down but the course load just get bigger with creating whole collections, learning new harder techniques and more! It’s cool to see someone else pursuing FD though! I hope you can continue to enjoy it! I didn’t end up choosing it after two years I switched to film but still love fashion and making clothes for myself occasionally!

I think that may depend on talent? When you follow/ create trends, know to match textures/ textiles, colors and patterns... the quality too...
