    I think it was you that got me into turning flower vases out of green wood. I sold the heck out of them. Then I turned some bowls. Now I'm interested in resin. You the Man!

      That is excellent! That is how the evolution goes. Sell the east ones to fund the complex. Glad you are moving some pieces!

    I love watching your videos and watch them several times. I have only cast resin for pen blanks so far and used it to fill cracks in a bowl ( ongoing). I am a true novice but am learning so much from you. do keep the videos coming.

      @@TheKlondikeCraftsman can I ask if you oil the finished products, and if so, what do you use as these look bloody awesome! The reason I ask is that I recently bought an old lathe and I would like to produce something similar to what you make. I do make guitar bodies and spray them with clear nitro but I’m interested to learn how you finish your projects?

    • @TheKlondikeCraftsman
      @TheKlondikeCraftsman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@martinhoran6658 if it isn’t for food I use hampshire sheen high gloss or danish oil. For food I either use HUT wax or a salad bowl oil. What you see in this video is only Yorkshire grit regular and micro fine.

    Beautiful piece of art. Really nice work. Ok dumb question time: Do you coat the inside lower portion with epoxy resin in case someone puts water in it for flowers? Just curious, not sure if that's even necessary. Thank you.

    • @TheKlondikeCraftsman
      @TheKlondikeCraftsman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Michael. I didn’t coat the inside and the customer knows it is not intended to have water inside. Thank you for watching!

  • @thesweetone

    You are using a lot of mica powder for the amount of resin, like ... Way too much from what I have done. Maybe it's a different brand but it seems like a waste. Yes it turned out absolutely stunning!

    • @TheKlondikeCraftsman
      @TheKlondikeCraftsman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mix my resin to the colour I like it and the colour that the customer wants. $0.50 extra powder doesn’t mean much in expensive commissioned pieces. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

  • @Amybaumgart
    @Amybaumgart 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you pour the resin as soon as you had it mixed? or did you wait for it to heat up for color separation? Gorgeous piece!!

    • @TheKlondikeCraftsman
      @TheKlondikeCraftsman  ปีที่แล้ว

      The temperature wasn’t shooting up when I poured it. I happily got more separation than I expected. Thank you for watching!
