In this video I make a commissioned hybrid and burl vase that is being given as an anniversary gift. The figure in the burl is incredible. I hope you enjoy!
I think it was you that got me into turning flower vases out of green wood. I sold the heck out of them. Then I turned some bowls. Now I'm interested in resin. You the Man!
I just received this beautiful vase for my 25th Anniversary! After watching the video I told my Mikey I would love to have one of your pieces and then I am surprised with this! I love it Lewis - your craftsmanship is truly amazing - thank you so much ❤️
Wow wow wow wow!!!!!!! It is awesome and stunningly beautiful magnificent and spectacular oh boy the burl grain and the resin the colors together oh wow!!!! Absolutely amazing.
I love watching your videos and watch them several times. I have only cast resin for pen blanks so far and used it to fill cracks in a bowl ( ongoing). I am a true novice but am learning so much from you. do keep the videos coming.
Very, very pretty! Green is my favorite color and with that Burrell it is just fantastic. I am a newbie at Woodturning and I’ve already found that. I enjoy watching you beginner videos. Thank you for sharing.
Another really nice piece! I'm always fascinated how the colours and metallic blend in the resin and merge with the burl as the piece is being turned. Have a safe Thanksgiving Bryan.
@@TheKlondikeCraftsman can I ask if you oil the finished products, and if so, what do you use as these look bloody awesome! The reason I ask is that I recently bought an old lathe and I would like to produce something similar to what you make. I do make guitar bodies and spray them with clear nitro but I’m interested to learn how you finish your projects?
@@martinhoran6658 if it isn’t for food I use hampshire sheen high gloss or danish oil. For food I either use HUT wax or a salad bowl oil. What you see in this video is only Yorkshire grit regular and micro fine.
Awesome work. I just subscribed to your channel this past weekend. I turn Hybrid pens and love the look. I might try something bigger soon. thanks for the info and the great videos.
Beautiful piece of art. Really nice work. Ok dumb question time: Do you coat the inside lower portion with epoxy resin in case someone puts water in it for flowers? Just curious, not sure if that's even necessary. Thank you.
You are using a lot of mica powder for the amount of resin, like ... Way too much from what I have done. Maybe it's a different brand but it seems like a waste. Yes it turned out absolutely stunning!
I mix my resin to the colour I like it and the colour that the customer wants. $0.50 extra powder doesn’t mean much in expensive commissioned pieces. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
Hey Bullseye, I do not discuss selling prices of commissions in comments, sorry. I know this was bought for a viewer as a gift. I appreciate you watching!
Hey, that was a commissioned piece so I don’t divulge what was paid. I will say that pieces like this are in the 300-500 range. I appreciate you watching!

That is excellent! That is how the evolution goes. Sell the east ones to fund the complex. Glad you are moving some pieces!

Thank you Michael. I didn’t coat the inside and the customer knows it is not intended to have water inside. Thank you for watching!

Did you pour the resin as soon as you had it mixed? or did you wait for it to heat up for color separation? Gorgeous piece!!
The temperature wasn’t shooting up when I poured it. I happily got more separation than I expected. Thank you for watching!
What is there to say? It is gorgeous!!
Pixie Bedabinokwe Matlis thank you, I appreciate it.
I agree with robcp, this is beautiful. I also enjoy the way you make your videos maybe you can give me some pointers? :D
Thank you Japie! Point and shoot buddy!
@@TheKlondikeCraftsman LOL Thank You for the tip :D
Nice! When hollowing did you just use handheld tools or a captive system? I'm wanting to try my hand at a hollow form soon.
HodgePodge WoodWorks I use all Easywood hollowing tools HodgePodge. Thanks for watching.
