The first half of the th-cam.com/users/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.
So many things to like about this video. He shows classic woodworking process and design along with woodturning. Also shows some of the more tedious aspects and how to fix gaps, etc. Thanks very much for posting.
I’ve watched a lot of woodwork and wood turning videos. I always have a smile on my face when I see people use the flat carpentry pencils, the sounds of the machinery it reminds me of my late dad’s workshop. The one thing I miss the most is the smell of wood being cut. Beautiful piece 👏👏👏
Какая трудоёмкая работа! Это же надо было как то придумать!! У вас прекрасное воображение!! И сама работа выполнена ГЕНИАЛЬНО!! Я впервые вижу такое!! Браво!👏👏👏👍👍👍
I love how you work ,I work the same way . It’s not about rushing and seeing how fast you can get it done . It’s about being passionate about the project your making . Taking your time making sure it’s right .the attention to detail ,and investing in the piece with emotion shows in your work .
Karya seni yang sangat mengagumkan meskipun dengan rendah hati dia mengatakan bahwa ini adalah project epoxynya yang pertama. Semoga sukses terus Thomas, salam dari Indonesia.
Lee - Lee ... did you see his lumber rack at 4:25 in video? It’s shaped like tree branches. His lumber rack is itself art. He’s a super creative mind and artist!
@@Lee-qp6gf Thanks so much Lee and Jud. The bookshelf is actually a design by frenchman 'Olivier Dolle'. I made this one out of solid oak, very heavy and impractical to move :). Made it a few years ago for a customer who wanted this particular treebranch bookshelf design. Lost contact at some point with this customer, also no downpayment. So i decided to keep it myself.
I am blown away at your ingenuity, vision & skill. The amount of work and time that went into this beautiful creation, I would have never known. Thank you for showing step by step what is involved. Fascinating to watch & the finished piece is beyond gorgeous. I would love to own one of your works of art.
At first I was like....what in the world is he doing.....then I was transfixed.....then I was like WOW....that is a stunning vase, a beautiful piece of art, absolutely gorgeous....bravo....👏👏👏
I just love Padauk. There were things I'd have done differently but for the most part I love your ingenuity and desire to think outside the box. You've come a long way from a simple kayak builder

What can I say.......... I'm speechless! VERY well thought out and great detail in your workmanship. A true work of art you created. i thoroughly enjoyed watching.
Thank you! You make amazing things and you make it look easy. But the thing that always gets me is the feeling your videos give me... Calm and happy, thank you!
Very creative way of creating a resin mold that really allows the resin to naturally fill in the places exactly where you wanted it. Pretty great result too! Well played Thomas, well played indeed.
Wow! Beautiful piece! I have to say I really appreciate your use of hand tools! I came into the carpentry world right on the cusp of old-school and new school. Very early 80s. I’ve been an accomplished finish carpenter all around remodeler but found myself very bored most of the time. Until I discovered wood turning it’s mesmerizing to watch! So I just bought my first lathe, And I’m just gonna start puttering I know a fair amount about joinery so down the road I might be able to do something like you did! By the way you have some very nice machinery in that shop I’m impressed! Cheers!
This is lovely. If you're going to make more resin-and-inclusions objects, I'd recommend building a vibrating table to get those air pockets out. It'd save having air pockets, possibly in places that are hard to patch. For larger projects, you wouldn't need to cut up all those tiny pieces of good timber, just use fresh woodchips from your local garden supplier - they supply them in different colours for landscaping. I'd love to see a lamp built like this, but with a translucent tinted resin and then turned to a thin enough layer that an LED light inside could shine through!
Hello Thomas! You have a great shop! Great video and audio. The end result is just gorgeous and elegant. I have a request: for us beginners please if possible, detail your materials used in the making of videos. For example: resins, oils, grit of sands, etc, etc. Im very inspired and willing to learn but sometimes the little details are difficult to get. Please keep posting your talent. THANKS!!!
Thomas, Thank you for making the time and effort to share your work on this piece. Wow. I appreciate the creativity / ingenuity involved with designing the construct as well as seeing the process involved. I was worried about the air bubbles (occlusions), but the mid-turning repairs seemed to address those issues. Of late, I have seen a lot of carbide-tipped tools used to turn resin objects, so I am impressed at how well the high speed steel cut through the material w/o any [documented] tearouts or snags.
I hope you see this comment! Where have you been? I love your videos of your awesome creations! I've been revisiting some old videos lately. Take care, Vickie
Maybe things didn't go 100% as you planned or hoped, but your workarounds and attention to detail produced an excellent result. Personally I think that the resin may be a little on the dark side, but that aside the result is superb. I watched, fascinated, to process of "building" the elements of the vase. I wasn't sure where it was going as I didn't pay a great deal of attention to the picture (my bad) before watching the video, but that made the reveal so much more enjoyable. Thank you for posting the video.
