Get a polished elbow. 5in inlet 6in outlet. You won’t regret it one bit. My brother was hesitant about putting one on his dmax and I’ve had 2 on my 6.0L and he finally got one and said he wished he bought that tip before he bought his 10in tip
You need to see Truck master for just about anything Duramax, I'm not sure exactly but I belive he has about 5 different DMax's, don't quote me on that though.
Oh , one more thing , air dog sets their lift pump pressure on output to between 5-7 psi for the same reasons you initially thought about being “ too much “ for CP-3 pump to handle on input side . As long as pump maintains inlet side pressure during heavy throttle in those ranges your pump will have fuel enough to supply desired rail pressure ( as long as CP-3 pump pressure regulator & all else in fuel system is up to par ) for normal usage & drivability. Your injector balance rates really didn’t look that bad to me at least as normal ranges are not to exceed between - 4 & +4 at idle , truck fully warmed up , and all accessories off . You may have one or more having “ bleed back “ issues internally which will show up at test bench testing if the shop has proper test equipment. Good luck here man , as I hate to see my rig , or anyone else’s not running well . 😎👍
I’m very familiar with diesels yet I just now own my first one and I’m starting to thank god everyday I got an untouched easy to work on ass 12 valve 😂
idk about a duramax, but i’m a tech on john deere equipment and i have seen bent pushrods, pump seals, and injectors/injector cups. also, in some engines, there are o rings on injectors that i have seen leak, on others i have seen metal from the pump go through the system and cause injector to stick open. either way, it takes time and patience. good luck
Judging from light blue haze out exhaust at that initial startup after charging 2 days ( as you stated) I would say possibly one or more injectors have started to go south , and need removal & be taken to a shop that can do full flow bench testing . While all are out & engine is down for a bit order all New internal fuel lines & get a manual for specs on torque settings for ALL internal fuel lines and a good torque wrench and appropriate sockets/ crows feet to do the job properly. 👍
Most of your emissions compliant truck will turn black almost instantly because they recycle exhaust gas into the engine but deleted/pre-emission trucks most of the time the oil stays fairly clean unless you don’t change your oil when your supposed to.
I got a 2002 lb7 duramax that’s getting new fuel injectors right now. Had barely any oil pressure and a ton of fuel in the oil. May be your problem as well, check your oil pressure.
If you had haze out the exhaust.. and it smelled like diesel then you have an injector sticking and that would also put diesel in the oil as it’s flooding the cylinder and going past the rings. If it was the seal on the cp3 you likely wouldn’t have the haze as it would be going straight into the oil that way.
It’s normal just drive it. If you had too much fuel pressure you would throw a code and go into limp mode same with low pressure and those would be signs of a bad cp3 also
There is no way for fuel to get into the oil from injectors unless it washes the cylinder wall out or has a cracked piston. Which is not the case with no blow by. The injectors are external with no oil ran to them. Only possible thing that could get fuel into the oil is the cp3. Buy a upgraded cp3 and then it will be ready when you want to put bigger injectors and turbo in it and make a whole a lot more power
That truck looks so much better with the tires even with the fender wells. When they're sticking out so far it looks like Brandon from high school should be driving it with his Instagram and Salt Life stickers in the rear window. It's a nice looking truck otherwise and I hope you figure out what issue is causing your problem. 👍
injector balance rates don't tell the full story on injectors there's also command rates the command rates are much more important then balance its very rare for the cp3 to blow seals and dump fuel I've never heard of that personally I would have to say its more them likely your injectors my brothers truck dumped fuel into the oil and the truck drove fine with no issue he drove it like that for 2 years before he had them replaced so I would take it to a shop have them do a further check on the truck and see what they will say but I have a strong feeling your going to be getting injectors done on your truck
Balance rates don’t mean anything. Bet it has cheapo injector(s) in it. The CP3 could have blown seal but airdog wouldn’t cause that. Pressure is perfect. It wouldn’t build 26k rail if it was failing.
My lb7 starting to do the typewriter noise driving me nuts. Switch to 5/40 synthetic Rotella . Save the money and do the work for content. What ever works man.

Get with truck master he knows everything about duramax.
Absolutely. Talk to truck master. He knows a lot about duramax most diesel actually. He would have an answer for you.
💯 agree. I bet he would know.
To bad he doesn't know to his wheels are wider then the tires !
Another vote for reaching out to Truck Master. See if he would be down for a collaboration of channels.
Talk to truck master that man knows every single thing needed for your Duramax.
Truck master!! I would reach out to Truck master he knows everything about these duramax's
Get with Josh, his channel notoriously known as Truck Master. He’s a duramax guru. He builds them frame up

Your only help would be truck master from Michigan, guy knows dmaxs like in the back of his head
Happy to see more Duramax content!
My guess would be CP3 seals, or fuel rail presssures, indicating bad orings.
You need to see Truck master for just about anything Duramax, I'm not sure exactly but I belive he has about 5 different DMax's, don't quote me on that though.
definitely thinking it’s the o rings on the cp3, do all the work yourself be a great learning experience!!
Love the vids keep up the good work shorty is what inspired me to build my truck

I love all your content I’m glade there’s more duramax content
Pretty good diesel mechanic in childersburg right beside the express oil change if you are needing a good mechanic
Could you get Power Amp Steps and do an installation video for the Tahoe??
Thanks for the vid today brother! ❤
Love your videos !
I’m very familiar with diesels yet I just now own my first one and I’m starting to thank god everyday I got an untouched easy to work on ass 12 valve 😂
dang, no rust, nice truck bro
Prestige Diesel in hueytown is one the best around. Only thing is it might take a couple weeks to get in since he's always booked up
Looks good
Hey man I didn’t know edge did a rumble tune on them looks good

My lbz started hazing too just last month it started i tried out the diesel extreme didn’t seem to work
Love the vids man.
could it be the fuel pump seal or some seal near the fuel filter? maybe the return seals or lines?

similar issue on my lly, brand new bosch injectors. had them taken out and bench tested, still hazes smh
Love the vids
I like your truck
That Yukon is bad ass
You definitely have fuel in your oil. That oil should be black Which is normal for any diesel.
Thought so. Why do diesels turn the oil black so quickly compared to gassers?
@@brianvera2353 all the soot from compression. All part of the combustion process It’ll be black within 500 miles after an oil change
@@brianvera2353and 15w40 is darker than 5 or 10w 30 anyways
If that is 15w 40 like most diesels run, it looks thin to me. I don't know much about duramax but I would assume fuel pump seals or injector o rings.
Goto you local auto parts store get Uv dye for the fuel then check oil with black light.
what tires are on the truck?
I think the oil after being drove around on diesels are supposed to be black like instantly, could be wrong tho i guess that’s just how my dads LBZ is
I thought so too
Most of your emissions compliant truck will turn black almost instantly because they recycle exhaust gas into the engine but deleted/pre-emission trucks most of the time the oil stays fairly clean unless you don’t change your oil when your supposed to.
You can tell by the haze at idle that one of the injectors is sticking open.
I got a 2002 lb7 duramax that’s getting new fuel injectors right now. Had barely any oil pressure and a ton of fuel in the oil. May be your problem as well, check your oil pressure.
Best way to tell without guessing if there's fuel in the oil or not is an oil sample test.
Send the oil away for a oil analysis
I’m gonna miss the big exhaust tip if you get rid of it 😪
If you had haze out the exhaust.. and it smelled like diesel then you have an injector sticking and that would also put diesel in the oil as it’s flooding the cylinder and going past the rings. My cp3 was bad but never threw a code. But it was leaking into valley
Okay what lift is that? 6 in rough country?

Buy a upgraded cp3 and then it will be ready when you want to put bigger injectors and turbo in it and make a whole a lot more power
I always watch the whole ad for boy Lmfscrew
So is the problem still fuel in oil? Or are we having a fuel pressure problem?
Balance rates should be checked with warmed up engine
It’s returning to much fuel if you have rail pressure desired and no codes
Reminds me of that one mission in gta where micheal and trevor are cops
Just find a mom and Pops small shop that works on diesels and take it to them. I bet they’ll fix it.
Yeah I would be lost as hell working on that thing. I’m no mechanic as is, I just know SOME stuff. Keyword some
Injectors I had to change mine out at 160000 miles returning to much fuel through the injector with load…
Yes more Duramax content
Do you have a broken injector nozzle?
Test your oil for fuel dilution, you will know for sure if you have fuel in your oil or not. Cheapest way is a falling ball test kit
That truck looks so much better with the tires even with the fender wells. Truck master
Injectors or cp3. But ur keeping rail pressure so the truck drives fine ur just wondering how fuel is in oil right ?
Gotta get her right
Just replaced the injection pump already lol
injector balance rates don't tell the full story on injectors there's also command rates the command rates are much more important then balance its very rare for the cp3 to blow seals and dump fuel I've never heard of that personally I would have to say its more them likely your injectors my brothers truck dumped fuel into the oil and the truck drove fine with no issue he drove it like that for 2 years before he had them replaced so I would take it to a shop have them do a further check on the truck and see what they will say but I have a strong feeling your going to be getting injectors done on your truck
Why don’t you replace the gauge to see if the gauge is bad?
Keep the big exhaust tip. It looks good with the rest of the setup you have
Cp3 bad?
Does it smell like fuel? That would be an indicator to me? Am I right? Can’t just always go off looks. Trust me I know I own a 6.0 powerstroke 😂
Duramax needs a chrome elbow tip
Think it’s time you build yourself a shop you can pull a truck into lol

You might be losing fuel rail pressure. Try putting a new fuel rail plug in.
Balance rates don’t mean anything. Bet it has cheapo injector(s) in it. The CP3 could have blown seal but airdog wouldn’t cause that. Pressure is perfect. It wouldn’t build 26k rail if it was failing.
Probably injector o rings
My lb7 starting to do the typewriter noise driving me nuts. Switch to 5/40 synthetic Rotella . Save the money and do the work for content. What ever works man.
Put a new engine in it!
Keep up the good work man I been watching for years
Dude…Change the damn cp3, that’s you’re issue

Typical Durmax, this is a good example of why powerstroke and Cummins are superior.
@truckmaster
@truckmasters
I’m gonna miss the big exhaust tip if you get rid of it 😪
