I line my sink with tinfoil pour in boiling water half cup salt and half cup baking soda and soak...works wonders for my silver...also love love love the picture of the flowers and yes I would have bought the pictures of the birds..happy new year!
Thrilled Thrifter @@helenlouise_ I paint ,so they look like Peonies ,but whoever painted them exagerated them so they would standout and be noticed.- "Fantasy Flowers" as Artist call them
Short Stories of De Maupassant!!! The Necklace is a great story!! I wrote a paper on him for World Lit in college! I would have snatched that book up, quick and in a hurry!
Try KETCHUP to clean silver and brass and leave on for a few mins and wipe off ...love ,love ,love the picture peonies are my favorite flower ..go to dollar tree to get your peonies .I bought some from there and they are really pretty...awesome haul hun 👍👍👍
Are there little bumble bees in that flower picture? I have one that looks very similar. I found mine about 15 years ago at a Goodwill for 3.50. It is in our bedroom. One of my favorite finds ever.
YES...you got the picture !!! A lot of ladies are saying Peonies... which might be, but then I’m thinking English Wild Roses....ANYWAYS...it is gorgeous! Those silver trays... I pray you can clean the one with handles.... lots of advice in the comments 🙏 Yes your shelve is a mystery.... I think plate rack....or at least I would use it that way ! LOL! Those glass Canisters, I had so many of them....When I worked for a large Insurance Company for 40 years, at Christmas time they always offered us at cost, Kohler nuts ( you could get mixed or cashews) and they always came in those Canisters. So of course every year...I got them! Wish I had kept them... you could have had at least 12 of them or MORE.... I gave them away through the years with homemade fudge or cookies in them. I think I have 3 or 4 of them still...2 for sure....Pretzel in one and walnuts in the other 😁 Nice haul and fun, fun time....Love it when we go THRIFTING ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Have a blessed week Julie!
I am collecting items to make a wreath from a silver tray. I love the idea of turning the shelf over like that and layering trays in the back and other stuff in the front. It would be awesome.
Julie I sent comment on peonies, but my son + I love woodworking. The cutting board is gorgeous. Don't be afraid to use it for food. Just sand+wax w/"butchers" wax. Cutting boards+most woods are antibacterial.for future info. Those spots on the Rogers silver tray may be from a chemical damage, but a silver polish compound to bring its glory back. Rogers is one of the oldest companies of silverwares. Love your items. Yes I thrift for any holiday/season especially for sales! Thank you for a fun time w/you again!
Your painting is beautiful. The flowers look to be delphina. So happy for you that you found your container. You and your girls should go to Nebraska for their junk jaunt in September. It's 500 miles of yard sales and thrift shops and vintage stores
Tier tray. I looked for one at the thrift store and goodwill today. I will look until I find one or make one ??? 🥰 The flowers in the picture looks like peonies. I actually have some in my yard in the spring. 🌸🌷🌼🌻🌹🌺💐 love flowers ❤️
Those full, fluffy flowers look like they are peonies or southern camelias...THAT PAINTING/PRINT IS SOOOO.... BEAUTIFUL! I have a trick I do....I buy beautiful realistic cloth flowers for "filler" and pure elegance ...then I get a grocery store bouquet OR just a couple real exotic flowers from florist The combo makes beautiful bouquets for just a few bucks! I grow Japanese Iris, tulips, daffodils, all colors of llilies, Peonies, Pink and white baby's breath, mixed colors of daisies, Indian paintbrush and blanket flower, sunflowers, holly, ferns, bells of Irland for filler, all kinds of wildflowers in pots, buckets or barrels. I also plant flowery bushes, lilac, hydranga, pink fairy spirea, yellow, red and peach roses, etc. You get beautiful bouquets for mere pennies. The fake mixed in with the real flowers makes for fuller, elegant, expensive looking bouquets. I also cut trimmings from roadside country roads. Things like ...blue chicory, white Queen Anne's Lace, whispy weeds with seed pods or thin branches with berries...whatever is pretty.... AND NOT POISONOUS! lol! As a newly wed, I saw small "oak trees" growing wild in a nearby field that a neighbor was getting ready to plow. We needed trees, but no money for them. So I quick, got our garden shovel, some buckets and ran to "save" those tender tree saplings from being plowed over. Triumphantly hauled those buckets of rooted trees home. My hubby started laughing, asked me if I felt "itchy"...I admitted it felt like ants were on me, making me itch...he guffawed...informed me I had dug up...poison oak, mixed in with poison ivy and a pretty poisonous sumac! He called me his "Calamity Jane Calomine wife"...and complimented me on the "cost-cutting trees" I had dug up for our new homestead! lol!
The picture is beautiful my mother in law had those flowers in her yard they smell so good and I also remember ants were attracted to them. What a great price. I love your videos thank you for sharing with us.
Oh I’m so glad that you found the other canister. I remember my mom having those. Oh what a beautiful picture. You really found some awesome things in that thrift store. 💖🌸💖
The canisters are cheaper than they were in the 70’s, and that’s not the largest. The picture frames were great. I use the cutting boards. Disinfect with bleach, yes bleach. Sand, polish with food grade mineral oil.
I do too, Minda! I usually wash them a couple of times, let them dry really good, then sand and condition them..... I'm a firm believer in bleach killing all germs!
Awesome silver finds! I love the old tarnished look myself but agree with you on the spots. You can buy a silver cleaner most anywhere. I got mine at Wal-Mart.
reading comments on the cleaning of your tray. Not sure if anyone said this yet, but with anything you try always try an inconspicuous place first so it doesnt damage it. Even tho its thrifted you want it perfect when you include it with your other decor. Good luck always love your videos.
If your silver tray has a base metal of brass or other metal, those spots may be corrosion. Try Brasso or for the corroded area try bicarbonate soda and a bit of water and rub gently as soda can scratch the surface. You could even lightly rub some barkeepers friend on the spots.
That painting was BEAUTIFUL! There was a set of bird paintings in round gold frames I would've snatched up in a minute. I LOVE that vintage look.Btw I've never been on a quicky thrifting trip. I'm not sure one has ever existed. I usually send my husband to sit on the benches in front of the store to wait. Happy New Year Lindsey. Let's hope it's a better one than last year.
Hello again! For the shelf, I also would turn it upside down, affix to the wall and lean the tray (on the top) against the wall. Then I would get a silver tea set, put the put, sugar and creamer on the shelf, add ‘S’ hooks to the bar and hang pretty teacups on the hooks. Maybe put the matching saucers up with the tray to tie in the porcelain cups. Add a lovely tea towel or doily to the back towel bar! Great find!
My first thought was that the shelf was a plate rack. Looks prettier that way; if you turn it upside down for a towel rack, you can’t see the details of the hanging part as well.
The flowers in the picture look like Peonies. :) I think you should try cleaning the silver with Tarnex or some such silver cleaner then just give it time and it will re tarnish. I think real silver tarnishes quite quickly if left to sit out and not polished regularly. Great video!
I can understand all about the cat interruptions!! I definitely would have picked up the daisies painting. I would use the shelf as a plate rack like you were showing. I’m looking for one myself.
I would have picked up the 2 little gingerbread girls. I collect gingerbread boys and girls. Love watching you thrift at Goodwill. Our Goodwills never have that much on the shelves. TFS.
I love the little paintings and small cutting boards. I use both for decor and do not use the cutting boards for food. Mine never has either. The handled silver platter is real silver. Rogers is a well known make of silver for a very long time. I hope you can clean it up and enjoy it for many years.
Good morning! When you had those floral pictures on your shopping video I was talking to you telling you to “buy them!” haha I gave a gallery wall of old floral and bird paintings
These flowers are all Peonies , huge and smaller ones ... there are no roses in the picture as someone suggested:)) I grow them in my garden , love them👍Great finds , I enjoyed your video, would have bought the other vintage pictures too , they were lovely. Love the silver trays, not sure if you've got that in America, but in the UK I use an oridinary kitchen cleaner called CIF, cleanes all metals in no time and is very cheap 👍
Love your excitement....it's contagious! The haul was fabulous, the painting is gorgeous and I can't wait to see where it hangs! Let the thrifting adventures begin ❤️
The little brown crocs that you’re collecting when I was first married over 50 years ago cheddar cheese spread, came in them at the grocery store. I guess I am an antique to. 😂😂😂 I collected them as well way back then and it was back in the 60s
Great job on that picture!!! Huge score!!!! Yes they are definitely peonies. My local dollar tree so far doesn’t have any yet. Keep looking. Can’t wait to see wait you do with all those finds!!!
The green blue spots is tarnish which has ate away the silver coating but there might me brass under neath. To clean use wrights creme silver polish and it that doesn't work nothing will.
I think you are correct with the blue spots and eating away the silver coating. I had a piece like that. ☹️ I don’t remember having success cleaning it “ off” .
I like your videos because you shop for yourself or your family, not for resale. That picture is gorgeous! I would have grabbed the gingerbread people figurines because I decorate my kitchen for Christmas in the gingerbread theme!
Enjoyed going thrifting with u. I like to see things that I actually have in my home. I have the vintage wooden ironing board that was my moms, it has to b 70 years old at least & it’s the only one I’ve ever used. Our goodwills are small & never have much do it’s nice to see all that’s in yours. Thanks for the tour.
There used to be an antique store in a neighboring town that had a vendor in there who did engravings of wonderful sayings in that center medallion of all sizes of silver trays. I never had a use for one, but enjoyed seeing them so much I wish I did.
Great haul. That small Wexford piece would have been good for toothpicks. I was practically drooling in the Christmas section...my huge downfall...loved the gingerbread stocking holders.
Wow I need that red and black buffalo check soap decanter at 4:50. I so want that small daisy picture. But I can't believe you didn't get that 2 tiered tray that match the canisters unless it was plastic.
I also look at tablecloths when looking for new curtains for kitchen, bedroom or bathroom. So easy to cut into two to four pieces... sew up cut side of material then add a top hem...new curtains! Large quilted pillow shams make sweet cafe style curtains too, cut away backside, add a tea towel or any plain material for lining... hold up vertical, fold over top and sew to make a ruffle or just do a straight hem across. Very pretty.
If u sand it down and then clean it off let it dry...then clean with kosher salt and lemon juice ..let that dry ..remove excess and then wood butter it a mixture of olive oil and bees wax ...gorgeous!!!I love thrifting with u...I dont resell either I'm a collector who can never rid themselves of all the treasures I collect hehehe BLESSINGS TOO U
I love that picture. Love the bright colors. I am doing brass and glass side tables in living room so I love the brass color trim on the frame. But you gonna paint it. Oh well. Brass and white go together. The Rogers silver looks good I sure hope you can get the green tarnish off. Happy January shopping. You so sneaky lucky...$3.99 Y'all that's such a score.
Hello, enjoyed the video and all your repurpose ideas; the spindles are a great idea. The price on the "silver" was amazing, my stores are always marked $7.99 and up.🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ The painting is beautiful, I loved the little daisy for .99. Thanks for sharing.(PS - I am now a new subscriber)
I am glad you found the Wexford canister! I recognized it because both you and Jamie from Bored or Bananas collect them. I knew you would pick the one that was$2.99😄 My favourite short story of all time is The Necklace by De Maupassant. That story, and The Gift of the Magi by O Henry had a profound effect on me when I was young. I would have definitely picked up that navy-coloured book of DeMaupassant stories.
Those flowers are definitely Peonies! I love them! My grandparents had a whole garden full of them in different colors!
Thank you!
She scored on the flower picture!
That large floral picture will look good with your brass candlesticks with red candles in February
I think the flowers in the painting is Peonies. I love that painting
I seen a hack with paintings they use a product can't remember what it was and go over the painting with brush strokes. Really cool.
I line my sink with tinfoil pour in boiling water half cup salt and half cup baking soda and soak...works wonders for my silver...also love love love the picture of the flowers and yes I would have bought the pictures of the birds..happy new year!
I love that little daisy oil painting
I love the bird paintings. Love everything you got from your thrifting. The big picture of flowers.
Thank you!
Yes, that daisy painting is beautiful.
That was fun! I would have bought the bird pictures too! TFS Hugs!
The flowers look like peonies. My mother was a landscape architect 🌸
I agree. The big blooms on the centre look like peonies. The others are all roses, some wild ones. Beautiful!
Thank you so much! What a beautiful career to have.

Beautiful picture art for Valentines and spring time. Love IT!!!

I just sold those bird pictures to Ty Pennington (was on Home Makeover show).
Wow!
I LOVE that floral art piece too! Gorgeous! That shelf looks like a plate holder to me. Good night and God bless! 💖
Thank you so much! I’m excited to style it.

My Aunt had that same picture in her living room above her couch . It was there from the 60's up until she passed away in the late 90"s Love it
