@@alansommer Sorry I do not. I hope she is like me Tired and Retired. I thought she was just great. Enjoy watching old Smothers Brothers outtakes of her singing. Funny she did not become a bigger hit then she was. Really talented. Saw her in the LA debut of Hair. Wow !!! If you find any info on her wearabouts let me know. I sang for a few years in Newport Beach CA Prison of Socrates and the Ice House in Pasadena. Fun times but I settled for a great wife. 7 kids and 19 grandchildren. Life is GOOD !!!

Let the sunshine in is one of my if not THE all time favourite song of me. Always have goosebumps all over &wet eyes.
being some kind of "flower - child" of the 1990ies (going to anti war demos since aged 13 in 1991) this song has been played several times when I went to England with a group of growing ups. a dear friend I met there & me were crying, hugging to this song when we knew we wouldn`t see each other for weeks after spending every day together the 2 weeks of holidays.
What I do realize now, aged 44, is: war can only stop when the war insede every human being stops.
    Love & light

She's the one who sings second harmony with Cohen on "Take this waltz"! I didn't know and I've always wondered who that voice belongs to. Fantastic vocalist. Amazing timbre and range. It's the kind of voice that drills right into you. A ton of soul.
EDIT: I'm annoyed that the first part only lasts roughly a minute, because I'd like to hear more of her before the Las Vegas brass line kicks in. And upon closer inspection the first part is supposed to return, so in theory we could have gotten more. But I see from the lyrics that things get a little "crazy" (from a mainstream POV) with mentions of Leary and such, so I wouldn't be surprised if the ugly head of censorship and the abomination that is the war on drugs is the culprit. Shame, because this is the stuff of legend.

She and Bert Sommer were both members of the cast of HAIR. His song, "Jennifer", is alleged to have been inspired by her. He was the very first act at WOODSTOCK and footage of his performance is on YT. I first saw her on SMOTHERS BROTHERS COMEDY HOUR and knew then she was/is special. One of, if not THE BEST, voices in music....ever.

The talent was always there, so it took some persistence for Jennifer Warnes to break through. Seven years without a hit is nearly the end of a career in the recording biz. The Fifth Dimension's cover of "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" probably quashed this version. I was jocking in college radio when an Arista rep gave me a copy of her first LP for that label in 1976. While "Right Time of the Night" was the first big hit, it was another cut, "I'm Dreaming" that really caught my ear. It ended up as the second single, the second of many. And she was certainly lovely.

Hi there! You are sort of right. 60 year old (almost 61). The precursor to this, and the first song in the film (Aquarius), I sang as a 10?, 11?, 12? year old in a boys club. First song I ever did to an audience. I was scared then; but not much as many of the same age must be now. It will take a long time, but good people will prevail.

That *"Suhk Suhk!"* @ around time stamps 1:50, 2:15 , 2:54 are just epic... it's a sound from that era that could only be replicated nowadays as a parody and not the real thing. Not to sound biased in any way... but I just think that singers really sounded better back in then.... especially considering the lack of modern Auto tuning and digital mixing board apps for layering vocals.... love the old school technologically methods of making this... The vocals, The Percussion, the guitars and horns accompaniment just....and do not forget what is going on here, about the: facing a dying nation of moving paper fantasy.

Styled "The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical," the anti-war free-love hippie-themed, nude-scened Hair premiered in 1967 as the first production staged at The Public Theater.

I've heard it used about the biggest stars in music history. It's psychologically interesting (hello narcissism), but technically it doesn't mean anything. Warnes was obviously not remotely underrated.
