  • On May 7th, 2024, The Calgary Sun reported that Denis Bagaric, a dog owner in Calgary, was fined $18,000 and barred from owning pets for 15 years by a judge after his three dogs attacked a senior on June 05, 2022.
    Bagaric admitted guilt to two charges. The judge stressed the seriousness of the case, aiming to caution pet owners about the risks of letting their animals harm others. The prosecution had requested a 10-15 year pet ownership ban, which the judge approved. Bagaric was also criticized for not euthanizing the remaining two dogs involved in the attack. Their fate will be decided later.
    On April 2nd, The Global News Mail of Canada reported a tragic incident involving the departure of an 11-year-old boy in Edmonton. The boy visiting a home in Edmonton was tragically attacked by two large dogs. The police responded to the incident on Monday night and attempted life-saving measures, but the boy was pronounced lifeless at the scene. The owner of the dogs, residing in the same home, is where the incident occurred. The dogs were described as "very large" and have been seized by authorities. Previous complaints about the dogs had been made to animal control, with one incident under investigation. The city has taken measures to address dog attacks, including forming a specialized team to monitor restricted and dangerous dogs. No information has been provided regarding potential charges against the dog owner. This incident follows recent cases of dog attacks elsewhere in Canada, including one in Toronto and another in Calgary.
    A kind request to dog owner;
    If you care about your dog, please do things right away to keep them safe and stop any more accidents. Get them trained by an expert, make sure they're securely kept, and always watch over them carefully. It's super important for everyone's safety that you help out.
