Your struggle with the bracket reminded me of this story. A man noticed a farmer working on his barn and decided to stop and see if he needed any help. The farmer was trying to jack up the whole barn. The man told the farmer that was a difficult job for one man and asked the farmer why he was jacking up his barn. The farmer said his new mule was too tall and would not go in the barn because his ears hit the top of the entry. The man looked down and noted that the entry had no sill and told the farmer it would be easier to just dig out the dirt to make room for the mule. The farmer said it was the mule’s ears that were too long, not it’s legs.

That is one of the designs that make engineers look so inept. The guy that designed that slept through engineering school and paid his professors to pass him.😂
I'd be willing to bet this was a management decision to save the cost of a couple more bolts over thousands of units. Gotta protect those profit margins! :p
To be fair, if you use thermal epoxy as RTV, it probably means they can drop the surface finish on the mating surfaces for the pan. Probably saves $1.50/engine in terms of the costs to run the CNC for 5 extra minutes.

@@jeremiahbates7569 As I said when he was showing his horse power upgrades that there would be a knock on effect by putting new bits on a standard 250,000 mile engine .He has found this out & hence the delay.

Well, I have to admit the installation of the oil pan and bracket went very smoothly. I was expecting a lot more hassle. When putting vac. hoses back on fittings I used a put a small amount of Sil Glide (product name) just on the inner lip of the hose or fitting and it will slide right on. Easy to come off later. Don’t use alot.

Watching you install that back bolt reminded me of watching a Red Bull F1 mechanic in 2012 at COTA reinstalling the rear crush member on the transmission. The crush member was S shaped and he had TWO universal joints and he was totally unable to see what he was doing because the very expensive bore scope was not working. He managed to blindly find the holes and get the bolts installed. There were only about 10 people working on various parts of the car at the time, so the little delay in getting the bolts in did not keep the car from being finished on time.
my wife's vehicle is a 2014 Dodge Charger R/T AWD, oil pan is starting to leak at driver side front corner, they said that they would have to pull the intake to lift up the engine to get pan out after pulling the drive shaft out of front wheel drive since it goes thru the pan, great design Dodge!!!!

Felpro to the rescue. There can be odd hiccups, however: old standard [cork] rail gaskets were 0.090" thick most cases. The typical standoff on felpro is 0.120". Pay attention to front & rear sealing area, depending on the motor. One thing I learned [the hard way] is drains: chase the threads before putting the pan on.
