    Well done. To increase the effect, I suggest to put the pan into an old plastic bag after spraying. Keep the bag tightly sealed. This will keep the cleaning agent moist throughout the process.

    Those of you who ask how the pan got that way in the first place obviously don’t cook. I cook every day and scrub my pots and pans. Over time the build up is harder to keep up with. That is why new ones have to be purchased. So, you fast food people that only cook occasionally will have your pristine cookware forever. I have had to buy new cookware numerous times due to wear and tear. Real cooks do that. Thanks to all for offering cleaning solutions. That will ad some extra lifetime but sooner or later replacement will be needed. Also, the inside of pots and pans will deteriorate eventually.

    I learned this trick from my first landlord who provided excellent cleaning instructions to avoid cleaning fees. All of the stove parts, top and interior were put in a garbage bag, and then you liberally sprayed EasyOff into the bag and closed it. After sealing, you take your hands and smush everything around. Leave it overnight and come back the next day and wash with a mild abrasive pad, if needed. In this way you can clean ALL your dirty pans at once. Spraying into the bag helps contain the fumes, and the EasyOff gets on everything. It works great.

    My aunt has some really expensive pans my uncle got her as a gift. They came with a lifetime warranty and she could even call the company and ask them to come clean the pots. It's was crazy, but what the guy would do is heat the pans up and then use easy off to let it soak for a bit and lightly scrub the pans and then just rinse off everything. He only did it once and they looked brand new.

    • @dd1ddee
      @dd1ddee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With some companies, if you clean the pans yourself you can make the warranty nullified. So It makes better sense to let them come clean ur pans as you have paid for that service, as much as it seems ridiculous!

    Every time I use a pan, if I am not going to clean it right then and there, I set it in the sink and fill it with liquid detergent and hot water and put the lid on it. Then, when I have the energy to scrub it, it's easy to clean. If I burned something, I soak it for a few days and then bring out a Brillo or SOS steel-wool pad. I scrub the bottom every time I scrub a pan.

If you have the good stuff, the three or five ply that are Stainless on the outside and inside try keeping your expensive cookware clean with "Barkeepers Friend". Do not scrub the electroplated outside of the pan with anything other than the soft side of the sponge! Keep your pans beautiful.

      To keep your pots/pans clean and looking like new use Bar Keepers Friend after each use. It's a scouring powder like Comet, Ajax or Bon-Ami but works way better. Our 20 year old high end pans look like new to this day. If you clean after cooking eggs the pan can get a sulphur smell, to get rid of that use a small amount of Comet (a mild bleaching cleanser).

    Good method. Also, try this less toxic one. Get a pan a bit larger than the one you're cleaning. Put water in it with vinegar (and baking soda if you want) boil it and set the gunked up one over the steam for about 20 minutes or so. Take it off and wipe it with a scrubber sponge or steel wool. Same result as yours.

Eye protection also a good idea as strong caustics splashing in your eyes can easily burn eyeball.

      Don't live in fear. No, that is not common sense. It's no fume and the directions say you do not have to wear gloves either. We all have a really really good God given natural immune system that absorbs and eliminates most toxins in our environment. There are so many scared people out there. No you don't have to use full hazmat ppe to clean your pans. I'm sure you are one of those who actually goes to the store and wears a useless mask, stays 6 feet away from people and hand sanitizes just to be sure because you were told to.

      When I was in high school my local church asked if I would clean one of their commercial ovens for $100, (this was 25 yrs ago) so I thought it was great after school job for extra cash. They only gave Easy Off, sponges and a pair of gloves. I had to stick my head inside the oven to have my arms reach the back wall. The back of my throat burned for days afterwards and I accidentally got some chemical off spray into my eye and it left a chemical burn with a brownish orange spot in my eye even after I rinsed it. It took almost 10 years for that mark to fade away. Definitely regretted that job, but hey I was a kid and parents thought I was only helping to clean up the church. Moral of the story cleaning products can harm and not for kids to use, wear a respirator and protective eye gear.

    You can't do this on anodized aluminum pans, like Calphalon. It will remove that dark grey coating right down to the shiny aluminum base. And don't try this on teflon either.

    • @gwarlow
      @gwarlow 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @hecate235 Is there teflon on the outside of the pan?

    • @duffman18
      @duffman18 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gwarlow no, there's not. They don't know what they're talking about
      The beauty of a proper Tefal pan is that nothing sticks to the inside of it, even stuff like fried cheese. So you don't ever need to scrub to clean it (and scrubbing it just removed the non-stick coating anyway, which is dangerous because it's highly toxic to eat that coating so you don't want it to flake off into your food, and anyway it won't be non stick anymore once you've done that)
      Just use normal mild dishwashing detergent on a tefal pan, and only ever use either a soft cloth or a plastic sponge to clean it. That's all it needs. Some people seem to think you have to scrub it really hard to clean a Tefal pan. The only reason they do, is because the first time they ever scrubbed it, all the non-stick coating came off, so it was never non-stick after that. It's baffling as to why people think you need to do that. Like, I mentioned using a cloth, but really you don't even need that. Just soak it in soapy water and rinse it out and it's spotless
      All my tefal pans I've had for over 10 years, and they're still in perfect condition. It's really not hard to properly take care of them.
      For the bottom of the pans, yeah, use some proper cleaner. I've seen people recommend all sorts of weird shit, like boiling the bottom of the pans in bleach, but you really don't need to do that, just use oven cleaner like in the video
      But never ever scrub the inside of a tefal pan. Otherwise you'll need to buy a new one immediately

    I ues a Plastic scouring pad and it doesn't scratch the surface like a metal brillo pad does. You can also damage the surface of a metal pot with a contaminant from the different type of metal in a brillo pad (This is why you NEVER use a steel buffing wheel on stainless parts, as you impregnate the stainless with steel... that rusts... and stains...
    so for stainless you use stainless, for brass, you have brass (this is also the same for wire brushes).
    You should also pay attention to the machining pattern of the metal.
    Often a stainless pot will be 'brushed' in a circular pattern (like the groves in a record), if you scrub across that pattern, (like the hands of a clock) you will leave visible scratches even with a soft plastic scourer (they are not called scourers because they are gentle)...
    Try and match the direction of the original machining.
    If you don't really care about scratches.. do you really care about a bit of black grime...
    Personally I just use a nylon scourer after each use (Inside and out) and have a stainless frying pan that came from a local thrifty shop that looks brand new.
    (Once clean I also 'Seasoned' it with oil and it is fairly much 'non stick' now so it stays cleaner with only the underneath needing a little attention when a bit of boil over occurs).

  • @ethelryan257
