Great little video Stu happy new year. I like it when someone is asking for your callsign about 8 times because the are struggling to hear you then slap 59 report back at you. Lol 73
Haha , yeah that’s funny but remember some times they can’t hear you due to other stations still calling and when they eventually stop you are actually 59 :)
IARU Region 1 Technical Recommendation R.1 says that each S point is 6db stronger than the last so S9+10 would be S10 and a bit (10.4?) and S9+60 would be S19 as you say (the maths is easier on that one). But if you look at most S meters, S9 is about in the middle, so I don't see why meters couldn't simply go to S18 anyway! Other than the red looks nice on the display😁
yeah it's crazy when you think that 1 S point = 4X the power, so 50w to 200w let's say. People often say "but it's only 1 S point" well yes, but that's 4 times the power! so it makes a big difference to the actual transmission quality and received audio.
It's just a bit of fun, don't get triggered 👀but I'd love to know your thoughts !

@@G5STU well there is that too. 🤙🏽
S9, I was told that it's the CW RST 599, if you have RST 5109 it's ambiguous and a bit clunky to send.
ah good reason.
Colleague, do you know how many uA this is this S-Meter? I intend to buy one to connect to the CAG line and it is a very weak signal
Why not a RF dBm meter, like on some SDRs? More useful in my opinion.
why? -73 dBm as S9. different representation and still generally useless. SNR is more important.

@@G5STU Your logic is why I don't buy a linear. 100w to 400w is only 1 S point but £3k!!🤣
yeah i know what you mean 🤣
10 40?
?
@@G5STU CB talk
@@darkteckno ah ok, I thought it was 10-4 ? Not sure what 10 40 means :)
@@G5STU you're right
But this one goes to 11.
yeah I should have rounded up to S11 not down for S10 to have it make sense on that scale :)
