  • Born in Caheragh near Drimoleague in County Cork on 21 June 1913, Mary Therese Collins died at the age of 16 on 29 September 29 1929. The inscription on her gravestone, written by Mary Therese’s sister Kitty Kingston under guidance from a priest, notes the deceased’s body remains incorrupt. This wording suggests Mary Therese Collins is a saint.
On 22 April 1979 two men digging another grave in the Collins family plot say they came across the preserved coffin of Mary Therese Collins. After 50 years in the ground, they were astonished to discover her remains intact.

From what I know of the Catholic Church, once her incorrupt body was discovered, I am surprised she was not then placed in a glass coffin somewhere where they could keep an eye on her such as with St. Bernadette in Lourdes, France. There is a 15 year old boy in Italy who passed away in 2006 who is in a glass coffin in a church and is incorrupt. He is now blessed by the Catholic Church, just one step from sainthood.

At the time of his death his son was a little boy, and his body was exhumed and re-examined so the prosecutor could try his killer for the 3rd time. Thank you for this beautiful story. Unknown saints are everywhere! They certainly were in my home on the Yukon River, in the then territory of Alaska. There were Jesuit priests, as well as Brothers who came as missionaries, and assisted by The Sisters of Saint Anne. They were highly educated but toiled in the sometimes extremely cold vineyards of the Lord. "Dogsled Apostles" they were labeled in a book by Alma Savage. We, their students were not sophisticated in the ways of the world back then. They prepared us for the mainstream society. One of their students went on to Harvard and graduated with honors; but here's the thing: She never acted superior but was a native woman living off the land like the others. Anyway, thank God for His servants everywhere!

@Wendy Y - It’s likely because of scientific understanding of the body post mortem. Ignorance on the process of decomposition left people believing in vampires, and all manner of silly things. Now that science has surpassed those superstitions, the ‘bar’ is a lot higher for ‘miracles.’ That has put them in a position where they can’t make those claims as they used to without forceful opposition.

@@GraveVisitations Perhaps because the Church that emerged after Vatican 2 doesn’t want to know about such cases and sees them as an inconvenience to their pursuit of false ecumenism. See they want to unite with all the worlds religions and have moved away from preaching that only the Catholic Church is the one true church of Christ outside of which there is no salvation.
The modernists who infiltrated the Church and changed the Catholic religion is not the same Church of which Mary Collins was a member.

I had an aunt, a sister of my mother from just west of that part of Co.Cork who also died from rheumatic fever around the same time and was about the same age as Mary Collins. Rheumatic fever was very common amongst children up to recent times. My late wife contracted it as a child here in New Zealand and suffered heart problems throughout her life as a result. A mitral valve replacement in 2003 prolonged her life until she passed in 2016. Of course no such treatment was available in Mary Collins time, nor were antibiotics.

It really made her sick and her large joints were affected and very painful so they gave her massive doses of adult aspirin to help with the inflammation. It's really quite inspiring. It's one thing for a human body to remain incorrupt in death sometimes but it's the first time I ever heard their coffin remaining incorrupt too. I don't believe in coincidences. I believe in Synchronicity. In this case serendipity happened as well, when the gravediggers on a mission for something else weren't expecting to make the incredible find of Mary's remains intact. This is a case of Spiritual Synchronicity also, a Blessing created by God Himself, to show His Glory and at the same time make us THINK while there is still time❤

Grave Visitations- Thanks for your channel & all the hard work it requires. I see a fair few people have commented, so I thought I could add something more to the story, for those interested. The graves on the left, are my paternal grandmother & father (Nora & Patrick). Theresa was my dad's cousin. He remembered Theresa vaguely. He was only 4 or 5 when she died. He told me she had minded him sometimes, as a child. He grew up in Colomane East. In march 79, my grandfather was taken ill & dying. My dad realised he had to go home ( we lived in London) & support his mother. His only brother (who had lived there, had died a few years before). After visiting his father in the hospital, he returned with my mother, to her house. The cemetery staff had already started to prepare the grave for burial, as was normal. That was when they found Theresa. Apart from the grave staff & priest, he also saw the corpse. I can't be sure but I think he said they removed the coffin temporarily to the church. He described the presentation of the corpse, as exactly in the video but was struck by the fact, that the coffin was lined with a white paper, that was completely untouched & in absolutely perfect condition; particularly as he was a carpenter. The soil gets waterlogged there, so nothing timber would survive long. He also remembered her face as a child & that affected him. He told me, she looked exactly as he remembered her. He wasn't religious, (like my mother) but did have an interest in the 'esoteric'. The unsettling part though, was that my grandfather, was expected to die in hours. He would then have been placed in the same plot as Theresa. My father came home, after talking with the gravediggers & told my grandmother what they had found. She was very upset, when she heard they had recovered Theresa's coffin. She knew Theresa very well & told him they 'must' move the grave, for my grandfather. I know she told Kitty also. The plots weren't exact & they believed Theresa's grave, was further to the right. Apparently, Theresa was very spiritual, to the point of obsession. Even the nuns remarked on it & were deferential in her presence. My grandmother revealed, that on her deathbed, Theresa had said, 'no man must be buried upon me'. That day, the 21st April, my grandmother collapsed in the kitchen at home & died. It was the day they opened Theresa's grave; thus she would be buried first in the plot, (not my grandfather). My grandfather died a few days later. As news spread, it turned into a circus. The Dublin Times wrote an article & people started arriving in droves. I know Rome was informed & Pope John Paul was briefed on it, during his visit to Ireland in the 80s. The final decision however, due to all the media attention (& both my grandparents dying), was that they be buried together, (on the left) & Theresa be reinterred in the original plot. I know it affected my dad. He was a man of few words & very private. The gravediggers told him, on occasions they found other bodies incorrupt, over the years (where conditions made it impossible) but quickly reinterred them, to avoid public attention. Only the church would know. They would have done so with Theresa but for my grandmother dying. My dad, his sister & kitty knew more but never discussed it with me. Cork people of that generation, were very private. I remember asking to go to the funeral but wasn't allowed. I was about 16 at the time & subsequently moved to Australia in the 80s, so my recollections are from nearly 50 years ago now. I was in Ireland back in the 90s but time didn't afford me the opportunity to make it to Drimoleague. Hope this added a bit more detail for people. Regards User63

Unfortunately, I live in far Nth Qld, Australia. I'm the only one who had kids in my family , so the last connection to Ireland really, even though I grew up in London. My children are Australian.. Parents are long deceased, as they were born just after WW1. They had me late. My dad's sister lived to a few years ago (Colomane East) & was the last of that generation, that I know of. My mother was from Cavan, where they're both buried. Pretty much all my relatives (fathers side), are buried in that cemetery. I do remember though, that my dad wasn't really surprised about Theresa. It was strange. He even said, that there was something about her at the time & everyone felt the same & he wasn't religious or one to exaggerate. Even when she was disinterred, he remembered all the talk about her before & after her death & what she allegedly said. Still a fair few people alive then, who remembered her. He also mentioned a rosary, that looked completely new & how 'fresh', her hands looked. I remember he dwelled on that part because it couldn't be explained; like her hands were 'full', not emaciated. I think he knew more but it unnerved him because of the circumstances of his mothers sudden death, the day they opened the grave. As far as I know, the diocese in Cork city, had a set of photographs taken & probably sent to Rome. I doubt anyone has seen them though. A journalist from the Cork Examiner said something to my father at the time, if my memory serves me correctly. He never discussed it again, once the funeral was over. Attracted thousands at the time though. Thanks for the offer though , would have been privileged.

I have a relative, a great great uncle who was a bishop whose family had settled in Canada from Picardy France, before the church had sent him to work on a mission important at the time having to do with the indigenous people of the territory they inhabited in Washington, they referred to as Walla Walla then, and he founded St James Cathedral under permission of the pope in Rome whom his brother, an Archbishop has gone in person to meet with and obtained blessing about the matter. In the late 1950s, his grave was to interred and moved to a mausoleum along with some other members of the church. Upon opening his casket he was found to be incorrupt. The church has not had it submitted for consideration for his canonisation as of today, but I imagine, based upon the works he did while living and trials he went through as a result of some of those works remaining ever faithful to God, the church and the causes he worked for, it would probably be approved.
My grandfather referred to him as a saint even without it.

I love story’s like this. Remember when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper that died in that fatal plane crash in 1959, the Big Bopper’s wife was pregnant at the time of the crash. In 2007 the Big Bopper was exhumed to bury him in another area but because there was a gun found at the crash site with two bullets missing and the gun was owned by Buddy Holly, they wanted to do an X-ray to see if the Big Bopper was shot by Buddy Holly but the results found no evidence. And at the time the funeral director ask the Big Boppers son if he wanted to see his dad that had died 48 years earlier at the age of 28. And I saw a picture of the big Boppers son looking into the coffin and the Big Bopper looked amazing as if had just been buried. Imagine looking at your father and your 20 years older than you father wow I was blown away. Look it up it’s a fascinating story.

Another great video! I think Daniel Collins is the great-grandfather of the incorrupt Mary Therese, it would seem weird otherwise to specify an off the wall relationship like that that skips generations. Plus, it makes sense that he isn't buried with the family....look at how far his death year is from the others; and it makes sense that when Mary Therese died, her parents and siblings would want to be buried near her, and there probably was no room near her LONG dead g-gf for all of them. To distinguish that he was part of their family, they inscribed it on his gravestone.

That was the body of Medgar Evers a Civil Rights worker who was killed by the KKK. Many years later when a suspect was identified ( or confessed?) His body was disinturred. The son his widow was pregnant with when he died contacted the Medical examiner to ask if he could see the remains. The doctor explained after so many years there likely wasn't much left. When he was murdered, donations poured in to help his widow and children and he was buried in an expensive lead coffin at the top of a hill so water damage was minimal. The examiner said only the hands showed decomposition. They cleaned the coffin and brought in fresh flowers to make the exam room look like a funeral home so the son could finally see his father for the first time. The witnesses were moved because he looked like his father and was nearly the same age.
