All three of us get to watch Andor for the first time. John has been wanting to see Cassian Andor's backstory since he saw Rogue One for the first time over 2 years ago.

Recently watched the entire series...in about 2.5 days. I won't spoil anything but I thought it was really well done and thoroughly enjoyed it. They do a great job of creating suspense and making you want more. PS...It does pick up, they are just building back story and laying the groundwork for what's to come with the first two or three episodes.

Just found your channel, and I’m so glad I did. If I only watched the first episode, I think I would have had a hard time waiting for the others. But, they released the first 3 on purpose.
This is by far the best Star Wars has ever looked. Great writing, cinematography, and acting.
Plus, Andor was nominated for best drama and Diego Luna for best actor at Critics Choice Awards.
I hope you all continue with the show and thank you for sharing your reactions with all of us.

I really enjoyed your reaction. Glad to see everyone back. The show initially started with three episodes. The reason is that the show is set up In three episode arcs. Except for the 7th episode, which is an intermediary episode, and the last two, which are the season finale broken into two parts. The director mentioned this in an interview prior to the show airing.

I think you may have just explained this is a way that I can present to John to watch more. We got through 4 and he was like nope.

Shoutout wayyyyy overdue. I have heard from EVERYONE without fail that it gets better. Now I have to convince John. His exact words “I won’t give Disney Star Wars another minute of my life.” Worst case scenario I will watch myself and record reaction.
But I think I can convince him. After all, I AM a Sith AND a Slytherin.

Appreciate the honest reaction. Personally I love this show but it’s not the typical Star Wars fan cup of tea. It’s a drama that looks at the start of the rebellion through the lens of the non Jedi populace. As others have said it is filmed in 3 episode blocks. So best watched that way to get the minor story arcs. To be honest when you say hope it gets better, the question is what does one define as better? Constant action, legacy characters, Jedi , the force? If that’s the answer then the answer is No for you and your friend, it will not get better. There are rebel groups and Empire forces shown for season one and that is it. Based on the thumbnails on your account you seem to like the fun and fantastical elements of Star Wars. A lot of people want the high fantasy and the fun feel good and action filled elements of classic Star Wars. This show is not it. Rather than spend the time watching and the inevitable frustration of watching 12 episodes you will not enjoy would just recommend for you to skip it. And for sure your friend that does not want to spend another minute watching Star Wars guaranteed he will not just not like it but will hate it. A lot of people who enjoy Andor want people to give it a chance and get the same enjoyment they experienced but for a lot of Star Wars fans they don’t like Andor or even have resentment that Disney spent time and resources making this show. As an Andor fan it’s just discouraging to have the show promoted all of the fan base because a significant percentage will not enjoy it . The inevitable backlash is just depressing. On a more positive note Mando season 3 and other shows that are coming up which have more of the usual Star Wars feel

Phenomenal explanation. Will definitely share with John. For us it’s the slow burn. IMHO I think they should not have gone the route of flashback backfill. I understand the “why” behind the methodology, give viewers enough action to get them to sit long enough for exposition and backfill. But if we are going to slow simmer this thing I think we would have been better served to split this into arcs, but give us one arc with all of his childhood scenes throughout the first three episodes then skip forward the nightclub round about episode 4. The thing about Star Wars storytelling is that it’s always been a bit if a slow start in the beginning while they build up a plain character for the first 1/3 of the story to let us know adventure arc soon to come. I think this is just a jarring switch to some effective storytelling devices we just aren’t used to seeing and feeling in the SW universe. Feels a bit schizophrenic right now.

Don't tell me you dropped this just because I made that long comment.
This slow start is why the first 3 episodes came out at the same time. They seem to end in odd places - like they planned a longer premiere episode and Bob Paycheck (the recently ousted head of Disney) told them to cut it up (after hearing complaints that their seasons/series are only 6 episodes long - some people stopped watching Andor after episode 6 because they thought that was the end). Take notice of the intro music - it changes every time and pays off in the last episode. Episode 2 is the last time we have Kenari flashbacks. Tell John he wanted an Andor series - well this is it - what the heck was he expecting.
Some rumors you may not have heard - The Dial of Destiny is Kathleen Kennedy's swansong with Lucasfilm - going out on (I hope) a high note. Grogu is not the little fellows real name - it's the name the jedi gave him because they didn't know his real name. The real name will be revealed in Mando Season 3 - looks like you may have been right all along.

No. I dropped this one apart from all four for three main reasons:
1.) it was boring and grueling to edit
2.) the episodes end in strange places like WTF. It was jarring and I wanted to duplicate that. “…yep, this is where we are ending this…”
3.) From an editing and upload standpoint it’s easier to tackle copyright issues and reupload with a smaller length/size video than a 50 minute reaction.
Disney really seems to be struggling with releases and storytelling. Feels schizophrenic.
