Yeah, wd-40 would be a temporary fix for a week maybe and then it'll start doing it again and probaply the door would be in a worse shape, becouse it would still grind, but you just cant hear it anymore becouse of the wd-40. Use good grease and the noise stops with the grind.

@@mft5773 don't get me wrong it was a good wheel for that year and that time. but even a simple change to the 2013 SS model wheels would look alot better with that interior

Eh, the 5th gen cars i see dragging are even lower on launch and they tend to have a lot more power and dont have that problem with good axles. The real problem is the shitty splined axles design. Theres no reason for DSS not to have 4 solid beefy lugs with bearings around them to transmit that torque to the axle cup, instead of a fragile sprung cage around tiny splines.

Yo gavin just wanted to share that axles are wrongly rated for horsepower when that's not typically the case. Axles are rated by weight of the car, horsepower does come into play, the angle of the axles themselves like Doug explained, differential, and the tire youre running. Since the camaro makes about 600 horses (rounded) with how heavy the camaro is itself + pro charger, angle of axles, and best thing to do would be to run a biasply rear for it being a stick car👍🏽

GAVIN PLEASE GET HENDRIX OFFSET BUSHINGS! I make 532whp in my 2010 Camaro and I went through 3 sets of axles and 1 diff till I installed them. They correct the angle of the axles for lowered camaros. Only $160 you won’t regret it!

Know about dead vehicles. I've got 4 out of 6 vehicles are dead. My 95 gmc and 95 trucks are down . My 95 chevy beretta is down but maybe running soon. My 2000 monte carlo blow a motor. Don't about that one. So I know your pain. The beretta and 95 chevy truck have not been any trouble until this year. Try rebuilding a 95 gmc after someone tries to stole a truck that has run in over 5yrs.as well. Good luck to you and your projects as well.

It's not HP that breaks the parts, it the TQ... The axles may support 850HP but it might only handle 300TQ and the car is a good 200TQ over that
Thats why Splined CVs are a bad idea, i cant believe they specced that for 850whp... ones with 4 big bearing covered crossjoints are much better.
Just cause a part is rated for certain power does not mean it’s unbreakable . Especially when something isn’t as designed like axle angle . Also weight of car traction level comes into play . Why get 850 axles , spend the money once and get there strongest axle . Doug told you why it broke ! You have cv joint bound up cause of angle of axle . Which significantly increases force required to turn it . Be better this is why you get sued all the time .
Check with @jondoc he had a lot of problems with camaro axles but driveshaft shop got him sorted after a few times

Gavin, they’re just like U-joints, for every degree of angle, it gets weaker and weaker, and like dug said since it’s lowered the angles are WILD. It’s your angle. Gotta fix it or it’s going to happen every single time

Hey Gavin, if I'm not mistaken but I think you have your rotors backwards. The slotted part goes towards the rear of the car.
Rating that each manufacture uses is goofy because there is no standard. How they do come up with their rating? Yes I've went rounds with tech department you get metal and design says it will or we tested on this car with this power. Power of this car how many passes mmm a few, 1 pass or we never had any problems before. Angle of axle has nothing to do with splines.
Cause lack of manufacturing not using nondestructive methods of testing forge cast products..I am a master at industrial designs and testing 40 years of experience..they basically take shot cuts and cheaper to ignore this issue .
I know they haven't been under good circumstances but I'm enjoying having Doug back in the videos.

You forgot gavin, because of you being so busy with other stuff not going right as planned..when it comes to driving on the street theres no prep but on the drag strip..the glue they probably used was a thick coat and can cause to much stress on the axles which can break really easy
Well you said yourself the axles were sitting on the shelf until you had a reason to put them in. So they probably upgraded them since then due to manufacturing errors. Just a thought🧐
Get you guys some cheap liquid penetrent a dye a developer and cleaner non destructive method of finding cracks go to Magnaflux and order it simple 30 minutes you can see defects no real skills to do this .

I put the stage 4 1000hp dss rated rear axles on my camaro with the similar build minus the pro charger and broke an axle on the street doing a pull.
So the male and female end slip inside of each other, the female end cracked and broke and the shaft spun inside of it? I'm sorry, but this sounds very hot

The metal that everything is made out of these days is so soft. I work on trucks and there is a splined shaft the ones I put in theses days don’t last but three to six months. The old ones would run for two to three years before wearing out. I buy from same company same name brand and all only thing is they are triple the price and last 1/4 of the time they used to
next time you gotta replace your diff replace it with a ford 9 inch XD that shit will never break
Why not do a straight axle conversion. Could build it stronger than what you have now and would've have to worry about the angle of it being lowered?
