Today we take a look at a new Total Conversion mod for Star Trek Bridge Commander.
This is Star Trek Bridge Commander Legacy. It is currently available from Nexus.
This conversion changes a lot, whilst staying faithful to the original base game.

Just installed Legacy on my computer and it runs flawlessly, I hope the Creator adds more Ships, DJ Curtis, and WC would be a great start

Any tips, mine loads ok, but when I press the standalone battle button it crashes. Am I doing something wrong?

@@steveperuski5547 No it just closes down and the only way I can play is to re-install the unmodded version.
As an aside the same thing happens with Star Wars Battlefront II. Is it me or my PC?
Your Bridge commander content is second to none. Thank you for the video. Got to check this out. Question: next to begging for video unless you already have one showing us. What the best single player modded experiences for bridge commander. I think the dream that I'm hoping for is a run through from beginning to end, but with Canon balancing and torpedo loads. Is that possible with any version of the mods out there?
I personally recommend this one. The Legacy mod was specifically designed to be a direct upgrade of the original stock game, while respecting the relative strengths of each ship as you would seen on the TV show.
Thanks! I would recommend Bridge Commander Legacy or Star Trek Bridge Commander Remastered. With Legacy it has the same feeling as the stock game and you get the excellent movie music :-D . In terms of canon balancing I would recommend Legacy. So far I've been impressed with the balancing. I'm currently playing through the single player campaign myself.
@@RetroBadgerGaming thank you folks. This is really insightful. I remember playing the single player campaign when the game first released, and getting stuck on a particular mission in which an Akira and I believe the Wellington a galaxy class starship and I in the sovereign were getting pummelled and no matter what I did I couldn't get sensor arrays down fast enough for anything, and kept thinking to myself. We should be hanging in this fight a little longer. And how come I Start off with more photons in the galaxy but less photons and more quantums in the sovereign. I may hook up my own TH-cam video doing a side by side comparison. It'd be fascinating to take one mission and do a vertical slice. Dissection

Kushan Ion Cannon Frigate is from Homeworld....its a forward firing beam cannon with engines. Homeworld ships are no pushovers as despite having no shields (Except the Taidani Frigates Anti Projectile Shield) they have auto repairing ablative armour (takes time but is useful between fights) If they added the Kadeshi Multi Beam Frigate....thats got 4 beams and is very much like the Defiant - way more powerful than anything else its size

I Love the fact that this Game is still getting mods after so many years. I have played in 2001 when it was new.

I got to admit that it's cool how it shows the stars are moving by like in the shows.
By the way does it have the Generations Enterprise-D bridge? I've tried playing Bridge Commander but I think my video card is crap and won't handle it properly.
LOL, my laptop has lousy resolution and runs BC/KM/Remastered no problem (in RE, I did have to edit the options.cfg to get the res down to where I could use it)
No Generations bridge sadly. Although there are a fair few. You may be able to add bridges in. Sorry to hear you couldn’t get it working 🖖

It's a great round-up mod pack but I'm a bit flat after all the hype. And it just crashed as I did the Battle of Nerendra III (4 V'Melaks versus 1 D7 and my 1701-C, nothing huge). The music is the best part! Also - where are the Borg??

Hahaha, the Original Series uniforms, that's when "redshirts" were disposable security. I have no idea when TNG changed security to yellow and command to red. 😄

Star Trek Legacy i loved, is there any reason that this is preferred over that game? Star Trek Star Fleet Academy was another, still have the 800 odd disks needed to play! Was great with live action cut scenes.

I know it's been some time since I've committed on any of your videos, offline life always has priorities, but I am glad I came across this one.
I definitely have to make time to download and give this new mod a run. Of course, if this has not been brought up, I have to ask if this mod can handle all of the other mods say from Star Wars, Stargate and of course, Blake's Seven.
Hey buddy! Yes, you can add ships to it. I've found ships that contain the stock weapons seem to work ok, but ships that have non standard weapons bring up errors. It's a little like remastered in that respect.
Never had the chance to play this game. Always wanted to but I don’t have a computer. And as far as I know there is no console version.

I really wish they werent ghost models in the fame and were opaque. Maybe it's just me, but i cant stand seeing stars pass behind the ships. Im done whining now, love your channel
That’s “dust,” and it’s actually important to help you understand how your ship is moving in 3D space, because not all ships turn on a dime.

@@steveperuski5547 Pegasus is way more powerful than Galactica. I can’t wait to see it in battle. Those forward cannons are lethal.
@@steveperuski5547the readme and mod description on nexus tells you how to get the game to run if you have 4K resolution.
If you are running Windows at 4K resolution and have problems getting the game to work, right click on your desktop and select DISPLAY. Go to Display Resolution and lower it to 1920x1080.
1. If the game does not work properly after lowering your resolution, go to your Bridge Commander folder and right click on STBC.EXE and click PROPERTIES.
2. Click the compatibility tab and check "DISABLE FULL SCREEN OPTIMIZATIONS."
3. Then click CHANGE HIGH DPI SETTINGS and check OVERRIDE HIGH DPI SCALING BEHAVIOR, then set "scaling performed by" to APPLICATION.

Is the Bridge Commander just a PC game, or is it a streaming game from cloud on a specialized platform?
It’s a pc game. An old one. It came out back in 2002. GOG sell it.
I used to play the original game when it was released, I’ve recently got into watching your videos here. It’s got me itching to play. Except that I can’t. I don’t have a PC. Is there any way to play it on a Mac? Thanks in advance
Looking on google there are some people who have had success playing this on Mac! It looks like intel based only though. I'm tempted to try it on my M2 Mac.

How we didn't get any further BC installments til this day, right now, continues to baffle me... I heard it's because of who has the rights of the game and the rights of star trek...
sounds like it. I understand, for many year now, the rights have been chopped to bits and parted out to multiple corporations, companies etc.
Also contributing to the death of many TNG-DS9 era merch licensed products and props.

Ooooooh that's so tricky. In terms of usability I would rank this at Number 1. It is rock solid.

I particularly like the balancing with the cardassian ships.

Maybe get your final thoughts --> I wish they could just get a few key mods over to Remastered/Legacy - it badly needs the MISSING tech. It sucks to play a little ship in Remastered only to have phasers be 100% accurate. Any idea if they've spoken about this on discord or anywhere?

redownloaded after i bought 18 months ago. New computer as old one died.
It seems that i am getting errors after i added individual ships like dutastered.... Its looking for py files like quantum2 for example.
In the past i started from the older version of Bridge commander then patched up. I assumed i could just patch new ships .
Did i miss a patch.
Can anyone direct me to a correct upgrade path using the latest remastered download from GOG..

Installed it and so far so good. But I have question. I am very new to modding this particular game and I have zero idea how install additional ships through mods. Could someone help with advice and experience?
It’s pretty easy with newer released ships. Just copy the folders from the new ship and it should be good to go. Be warned, the stats for downloaded ships may not be balanced for for Legacy. New ship releases will say “KM” or “Remastered” version, meaning they are balanced against those mods, not Legacy.
I’m author for this mod. With all the attention, I’m considering adding more ships and balancing them for Legacy.
@@Optimusx1 Thank you. That would be great, actually. Would you consider adding some mod packs, like the Stargate one and the Delta pack?
Adding ships is easy… balancing them to the other ships in the mod is the tricky part. I’ll probably approach this one ship at a time.
For out of universe ships, I’m a little more lax on those, since in-universe balancing would never make sense anyway. I could do a Stargate pack… but keep in mind that there shouldn’t be anything stopping you from adding a Stargate pack that’s already out there.
Still new to all this, are there install instructions you can provide?
Game wont load half the ships that were in the original game. It keeps asking for files.
-To install Bridge Commander Legacy, delete your DATA, SCRIPTS, and SFX folders and replace them with the folders from the ZIP archive.
-Replace the options.cfg file to enable 1920x1080 resolution.
-When starting the game, go to the Configure tab and select mutators. Make sure all options are enabled. You can optionally select a uniform mutator, which will only apply to the QB mode.
-If you are running Windows at 4K resolution and have problems getting the game to work, right click on your desktop and select DISPLAY. Go to Display Resolution and lower it to 1920x1080.

Anyone have advice for if the game doesn’t center on your screen? I run a Laptop with like 1360x something resolution.
You could try right clicking on stbc.exe, compatibility, DPI Setting, override DPI settings. That fixes it for me 🖖

@Optimusx1 Hello. Nexus can't find the game on my hard drive. I've used nexus modding before and have vortex.
Game has never run on my geforce GPU and never will. It always defaults to my intel graphics. Only game I own I can't play.
