I know it seems silly when a regular pocket knife can do it (I had the same thought) but I bought the Sloan hay knife and I love it. I think it would definitely help you with how you reach in over the ring to cut it.
Man we had a bad drought down here in Louisiana as well as texas and most of the southern U.S. So many never got a 2nd and 3rd cut. My uncle has cows and he fed corn fodder and he said his cows ate more corn fodder then they did hay. He said the fodder leaves are what they mostly ate.
Great video! Mud is the standard for my northern VA area in winter. Be careful with the processed bales, especially since you tip them down to unwrap them. They can slide off the forks. I believe you will prefer processed bales for bedding. Besides smaller stuff to spread, they have a better absorbtion capacity. And DON'T just sample the hay from the edge, you need to go deeper. Your local Extension Office may have a hay sampling probe, and they can direct you where to get it tested. Dry hay can be tested from a windrow sample, just before baling, but you are better off pulling samples from silage bales when you open a row. Smart move checking on nutrition, but protein blocks/tubs can be an insurance policy for the cattle.👍👍
In the past I've used Dairyland labs for nutrient analysis. They're in Wisconsin although I don't remember where. Can get as simple or in depth as you want with there testing.
Hi Ryan - thank you for the time, effort and information you share about your operation. Quick question, I am looking for a suction cup phone holder that actually stays attached to the inside glass through all seasons. Is your new one staying put and what do you have?
Check out Redmans salt and mineral. They analyze feed and build mineral blocks for your herd with pallet purchase. Farmer Tyler Ranch utuber just did a process review. The JCB still is a game changer.
Get one of those hot water pressure washers for the tracks. Or if you have one of those on demand hot waters heaters for the house; add a spigot somewhere to supply hot water to a pressure washer.
Why not store some bales on pallets. They are usually free and would keep the fodder drier. Have seen some farmer do that to a lot of bales. A little extra work but would keep bottom of bales dry
Hey Ryan, great video again. I’m interested in a jcb like yours. Could you do a review on how it’s holding up over the years. And anything newer models might have that yours doesn’t ? Thank You
Hey Ryan, My friend looks like you need to invest in a good pair of rubber boots. But thank you for another video for us. Take care. Take is easy and TRUST JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The MagSafe charger mounts would probably work great for that.

The jcb sure makes it easy to feed. Hope you guys have a great vacation.
Does the Ag Extension office in Lancaster do hay analysis? Or maybe the UW Experimental Farm out towards Bloomington?
Thanks for sharing Ryan and yes it’s a mess feeding this time of the year 👍
That jcb has been a great investment
Great stuff Ryan, stay warm👌👍🙏🙂
Hey Ryan. It was great to meet you walking around at the show last year. I'll be there again hosting a booth. Thanks for the video.
Hey Ryan you're not the only 1 to deal with a muddy mess.
any feed merchants will do an analysis on feed usually for free well they used to
The White wrap can be used for small tarps. You might ask Plumbing Co’s if they could use them on job sites.
Thanks!Love your winter videos!:)

I could’ve used a jcb with a snow blower when we got dumped on two weeks ago.

send him 3K
Be sure and start adding a high mag mineral about a month before green grass to prevent grass tentay. Great videos.
Why don't ya look into buying them white hoop barns, see alot farms have them for cheaper alternative for storage.....
I am wondering if a hot water pressure washer cleaning station would be easier to use than a shovel cleaning out the mud on the skid loader?
That would be pretty great, I used to use the water hose but washing every day makes a mess in the yard so I reverted to just using a shovel.

It's pretty tough to feed cattle in the winter month, but the jcb is the right machine for the job😉👍 nice video again👍👍
Hey Ryan, nice video as always! Can you maybe tell me what jacket you are wearing? That would be awesome, thanks buddy
Safe travels enjoy Louisville! Check their River out too!
I was thinking you must have boots on when standing in 7 inches of slop.

I’ll be doing a 5 year review this spring!
Hey Ryan how far away is the closest walmart?
This video was awesome, and also, jet fuel does not melt steel I beams
He Ryan, you maybe got a link to the click counter? I would love to have it on my phone, but can't find it.
Hard to believe that it's this muddy at end of January. Changing times and temperature s
Do you still use the corn harvester at the main farm?
What is that hay tracker you are using on your phone
what hay app did you use or was that something you created
Hey Ryan!!
Do any of the specialized rubber track tread patterns make a difference in snow or slick mud/clay? Anyone seen tracks for less then $1500 each?
Good content. 👍
Good video
What’s the app called
That is a cool app
ryan get yourself some wellington boots fer pete's sake keep the wife happy
Pullover Tingley are the best, and Treds are ok. You have your comfy work boots on and the pullovers keep the water and mud out.
Putting arrows randomly in the thumbnail needs to die on the Internet.

I think you guys should buy a John Deere 5030 for a manure tractor.
