Carnage at Frankston Pier

  • Built in 1857, and extended in 1864, the Frankston Pier in Victoria has long been the focal point of the beachfront as it juts out into Port Phillip Bay. The pier bore the brunt of mother nature with fierce 95 km/h (59 mph) winds lashing at it mercilessly during some recent wild weather causing serious carnage. Eventually the end of the pier broke away & landed on the beach some 300 metres (984 feet) away.

      Thanks Peter, for so many years I remember this pier being there, I have jumped off the peir into the water where the section is missing. Thanks for dropping by.

    That’s Crazy, 🤔 is the rest of pier safe?

      Thanks for dropping by. That's a good question. As you can see they barricaded off the end section of the pier to stop people going out there, but who knows if they actually did a structural check on the rest of the pier. One would hope so!. 🙄

    They steel anything in Frankston, even the end of a pier.
