Don't forget there's been two massive river floods in Lancashire in the last few years, which have done all manner of expensive damage to surrounding structures, just have a look at what the irwell has done in radcliffe for instance where a public walkway alongside it has had to be closed off. So it's not surprising that the padiham viaduct is subsiding. And I've walked across that viaduct before now, and I can remember when the trains still served the power plant there and crossed that bridge.

They say it's because of the mines underneath major. They worked on it over six months ago. Still closed off though.

@@weredoingitinbabylon8452 In that case they'd better hope no dirty great sinkholes open up like they've done elsewhere here in England, or else it might swallow the calder and divert it underground, leaving it empty downstream!

@@majorpygge-phartt2643 very interesting thought major. The whole area is full of mines. They would all fill up pretty quick wouldn't they?

There is massive gates there now so you have to go round near Tesco to get to memorial park

Looks nice though, even if it needs to be knocked down or fully repaired.

It's the old mining tunnels that are the problem. Sinking into them. Had a chat with the workers.

@@weredoingitinbabylon8452 I've rafted it all the way from barrowford to padiham bridge non stop, but don't try it unless you really know how to do it safely.
