    shotgun mics sound very natural and that is what most people want for YT vids, streaming or just plain work zoom meetings

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I also thought it works very well for zoom! Not in frame and still sounds great. But if my wife were to be having a call at the same time then it starts to pick up her voice too.

    I appreciate your video and considerations.
    I think a better choice can be the MKH 50, because that one will reject lateral noise and have a much low self noise. But ... MKE600 is a good compromise. Actually, I think I will do the same compromise as you did :)

    The 600 is very nice, only downside of a shotgun mic is sometimes you can get phasing issues from the resistance tubes on the side when you're recording in a room that isn't treated, in your case it doesn't seem to be causing issues and the river it's picking up from your room sounds pleasant, the reeverb Myron produces is all on the low end of that sound muddy and you can just hear this resonating bass frequency, so no matter what kind of Mic I used, I keep it in nice and close, I also got some real high quality foam to put on the walls which is the world's best type of sound treatment but it definitely cut down a lot of the nasty frequencies. Not perfect so I still don't put them off camera but anyways, that microphone sounds very good in your room

    really good video and amazing sound considering there is no audio post processing, audio quality is still a mystery for 99% of people, too bad shotgun mics are so expensive, I wish more people were using them for online work meetings

      If you have a room to yourself it really works damn well.

    Thank you for a great video! I really like the TH-cam video reviews of the MKE600 and am seriously considering getting one for my voiceover work!

    Great video! The mic sounds great! I have the SM7B but I'm considering getting a shotgun mic. Sometimes I don't want the mic in the video.

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that's what a shotgun mic is great for. Then you have all the space in front of you to move your hands or show things to the audience!

    I found the Audio-Techica AT4040 to be superiour to my Sennheiser MKE600; costs about the same. I compare the 2 on a round up video among many other mics. Of course the sennheiser can at least connect to a digital camera via it's included xlr to AUX adapter. I can put the AT4040 angled above or below so it is out of the scene. I've spent many thousands on mics, think I'm done for a while Shure MV7, Rode NTG, Rode Wireless Go, Comica Boomx-D pro and (non pro was provided for review), Xvive U5 is the best wireless audio quality I've found but it is also wired lav only and purchased the Xvive LV2 which ups the audio quality. Also purchased the Maono PM500, Presonus PX1 and 4 audio interfaces and all those mics since 2021 other than the Rode Wireless go and Rode NTG, Rode videomicro I purchased in 2019 :P.
    Really nice camera you have there

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To me, a good mic is far more important than a good audio interface. I'd say don't worry about your interface at the moment. I have run these directly into the camera and they still sound great without any interface or pre-amps.

      @@kurthd5641 the mic is amazing!! It pics up your voice soooo well 🙏🏾💯
      However I can't use my audio interface since there is this low static noise. Tried to figure out what it was and the only way it goes away is removing audio interface. Happened with my old mic too. So I'm recording straight to the camera and it's so much more quiet.
      I'm editing my new video now but going to take a good 150 hours lol so slow. But I'm so happy with it. AND its so easy to just use the AA battery. 😃☺
      Edit: beyond happy with it!

    Mr Pee, I'm commenting from the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago. loved your review here on youtube, very very articulate. I need to ask a question.....now I have been looking at Sennheiser MKE600 reviews on other channels and they never sounded this good, raw. are you sure you never applied processing, to get this good quality sound?

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. I did not apply any processing.

    Will MKE600 sound better with a cloudlifter or Triton FetHead?

  • @MakiPavlidis
    @MakiPavlidis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Peter - actually I would like to buy the same mic, for my zoom conferencing. Did the included shock mount attach directly to the boom arm? If you could let us know the arm and any attachments you went with, that would be great - thanks again.

  • @antoineinniss5586
    @antoineinniss5586 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just don't understand why your MKE600 sounds so good, raw, as opposed to other reviews of the same mic

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be the environment. Or the audio interface. But I’ve used it plugged direct into the camera too and it still sounds great.

      I agree. I bought this mic and powering it with a Mixcast 4, and mine sounds terrible. I would really love a video walkthrough of the exact setup and settings that you are using. I don't are if it's raw or not, I just want my audio to sound as good as you do!

    It's said that indoor is better to get small diaphragm condenser mic and not shotgun, isn't it?

    • @NetvoTV
      @NetvoTV 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Shotgun in indoor will cancel sharp tone of your voice and make your voice bassier, condenser mic will catch and retain the details of your voice

      It really depends on your environment. I am using a 7. But I have a lower background noise. And higher voice range. SNR is higher in the studio.

    hey! i bought the adapter ka600i for the xlr to 3.5 for IPHONE. for sennheiser 600. i power with AA battery. why is my audio so low? I need to bump it on post? its so low

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately the KA600i doesn't boost any levels and the iPhone mic in is tuned to a fixed level. In regular use in a camera, you can adjust the mic pre-amps in the camera so that's louder. In your case, you will have to adjust it in post.
