I swear I remember watching this exact one it was a Saturday and I was 12 about to start 7th grade it was a Saturday in late august my mom was out with her friends for the day and I was at home with my dad he went out to cut the backyard right before the storms rolled in and the lighting stuck a quarter mile away right as he finished cutting the last spot of the backyard.
I miss making the slides and background images and adding the music as a child and making full stories. Also I miss having a computer. They sooo expensive now

Watching these videos and listening to the old music brought tears to my eyes. I watched TWC since I was 4, and that was 32 years ago. Feels like these old videos are happening in real time.lol. watching the radar....i thought i was gonna get a storm, then realized i dont live in NJ anymore. Lol. Theyre bringin me back to my past. I was 11 probably just started going back to school. Incredible how the years go by. I laugh at the stuff I worried about back then. And remember to never worry unnecessarily at the age I’m living in now. If it won’t matter in ten years then let it go.
This reminds me of the times when I would go to the airport to visit family. I would always stop by the cozy little airport diners. Looking up to that one tv they had, it always had the forecast on it. I’ve had my best hours of sleep at airports

Nice to see a classic Weatherscan video! My local Comcast system has never offered Weatherscan. I also have never seen a severe weather alert crawl displayed in version 2 of the Weatherscan version of the WeatherStar XL. This feature isn't even available on the Weatherscan XL Simulator.
+WeatherSTARIII i am glad you enjoy the video! the emulator has the warning crawl coded into it, but requires a 3rd party software to immediately begin the crawl message as soon as the local WFO pushes it out. this was not documented, but if there is enough interest i can describe the alert package installation and configuration.

I think the story is that they were using regular Jzz Fusion but started having troubles with securing rights continuously so they got Trammel Starks to ceate custom music specifically for thEm. (Although I don't know if it was exclusively Trammel Starks for a while or if they still mixed it up. If it wasn't trammel starks there was alot of other Jazz Fusion artists from the time. (There's a website somewhere that lists the artists used month-by-month
Great to have this preserved! I never lived in a large enough market to have a weatherscan, did this version run on XL hardware? Interesting that the icons are static and the vocal local is not really utilized even through the assets we’re all there to use it.
It was indeed on the XL platform. As for the vocal local, I’m not too sure as to why it was simplified to those two phrases. I’m assuming that since certain headends had multiple cities on the lineup, it wouldn’t have made much sense to have full narration. As for the icons, they were probably left static to cut down on rendering time. Remember, the XL had to render EVERYTHING. It probably made more sense to have static images; easier (and quicker) to render.
