I cant wait to get my hands on one of these. I am a Maschine user and never thought about ever revisiting an MPC again, but for $699 this is a great deal. Good to see it got some synths installed just like the Live and X. Btw you was one of my instructors in college. Somebody posted this link on TheColi Hiphop forum.
I think AKAI hit it out of the park, but only for those that are newbies or those that don't own a high‐end MPC. As you mentioned, if you can get over the small pads, extra midi and lack of internal expansion, then this is a perfect first machine... and a machine that could become an integral part of a setup. Most importantly, it has an updated look smiliar of the legacy MPC units from the Late 90s-00s. I'd take this on sessions. I understand why some MPC live people are sick right now.
GoldenAgeGamer But as a Live and Force owner I just got the one ! Good review of the MPC One, thanx. Good thing is that i don't need to sell a kidney to afford the MPC One. The only small drawback is the lack of a ion battery. A main reason i'm leaning more towards a MPC then a Machine is that a MPC will last you for decades, if not a life time, but with the Machine i'm not so sure.
Nice review video. i watched all of your MPC Macprovideo courses before and the ones you have on Akai's channel so when i saw you had a review video I knew it would be a good one, also congrats on the new channel!
They should do a stripped back, sequencer-only version, with 2× midi-in, 4 out, and just go crazy with the CV. - I still got my 60ii and 2000xl, - both owned since new, - but for modular all i usually use is my ASQ-10 and 3× Kenton midi-cv converters... A standalone unit, aimed solely at sequencing would be received quite well i feel. .. The touchscreen, coupled with midi 2.0 would be the digital equivalent of the finest analogue sequencers available, - with 2.0 allowing for midi-microtonal step-editing, all in realtime... ~come on Akai, my ASQ won't last forever~ ~love to ALL, feel no hate~
Enjoyed the unboxing. Noticed your LPs at an angle on the shelves... they may look cool like that, but the ones being leaned on are getting warped. The only way to store them so they last is straight up, vertical. Cheers.
Cool video but the lighting was a little off. It was really dark for me. I wasn't able to see detail of the product. Did you ever find out what the link feature was about? Could it be a port where you can connect two One units together?
I know this video is old and you found out what that link in the back of the one is by now lol. But for the new folks just seeing this video and just got introduced to the MPC one, thats for the ethernet card. MPC one doesn't have wifi like the X and live you have to connect an ethernet card to connect to Abelton or splice and to get updates. Over all this was a great open box video.
Ordered mine today will get it tomorrow hopefully the downloading software and stuff go's easy I'm not an mpc user I use other synths samplers and multitrack recorders ect so hopefully I can pick the workflow up snappy...
22:43 Never get rid of this ish. If you do, sell it to me or some ish. It looks clean af! I like how you added the black pads, knobs, and buttons. Plus you kept the factory stickers on your ish. I have an MPC 2000 Studio Plus. Bought it brand new in the late 90s for $2500. It still looks brand new. I still got the original box and everything to that ish. It's my main sequencer that I use to control all my hardware ish. Your 2000xl Studio Plus is the last traditional MPC! 4k on up were workstations. You said that the 2000xl is your 2nd MPC. What was your first MPC????? A 3000??? 60???? 60II?????
Diane V Thanks! My first MPC was the 2000 i sold it to buy the XL when they came out a few years later. My first sampler was the SP-12 which I also still have in mint condition lol. Thanks for watching!
How do you get samples from TH-cam into the mpc one? Do it on my computer to an SD card then pull it up on the mpc? I’m trying to figure out if it’s even worth or actually better/easier than IMPC PRO 2 on iPad
THEMONSTERMATTMAN in standalone you will need to connect the outputs from your computer (interface) into the inputs on the MPC one. Or you could somehow get the audio into a audio file on your computer first then save it to a drive and then import it into the One. If you are using the MPC software with the one you could use something like sound flower that will allow you to pass audio between apps on your computer. It will show up like an interface in your I/O options. Hope this helps, thanks for watching.
DJDoubleEdge Regg I don’t think so. That would take away from the Live’s market. The One was designed to be an entry priced way into the MPC family. For the price I really don’t think you can beat the feature set on the One, it’s the most bang for the buck. Thanks for watching and subscribing.
I can't wait to buy this OMG. Thing is I really want the Retro edition and literally every retailer is sold out of them. I suggest getting some memory for it if you plan on using it in standalone a lot. I'm getting a one TB external SSD and a USB hub so I have more attachments. This thing looks like a beat. The will be my first MPC and my first peace of physical gear since the early 2000s. Even back then all I had was an 8 track, the cheapest zoom drum pad (I think 8 pads with horrible sounds) and a couple synths. I didn't even have a way to loop so I'd play melodies out the whole way through then mute them out at some spots. They was back when I thought people were stupid for using their computers to make music. Boy was I wrong. Lol I'm also getting the MXL 770 condenser mic and a 48 v phantom power box for this thing. I'm thinking about getting into making my own drum kits.

@@NoiZReduction Thanks, also what is the difference between sample based instruments and plugin instruments? Is sample based instruments in the X and Live aswell? Do the sample based instruments have effects and Digital Signal Processors inserted with them which can be replaced/removed?

I was going to get the MPC live but decided on the MPC ONE which I've just ordered. I've seen a lot of MPC LIVE for sell. What is it that's not making your work flow? The MPC ONE looks just as puzzling to me since this is my first ever MPC. I've just been trying to look at as much tutorial video as I can on it. I'm looking forward to the challenge of making it do what I need it to do. Stay at it my guy. Peace.✌
Brilliant unboxing video... Everything was brilliant but one thing. The head down close up on the unit. Its too dark. All we can see is the lights and the screen. If you get that camera sorted you will definitely have a regular veiwer in me. Really enjoyed it otherwise.
I’m using impcpro2 on my iPad .. is there things I can’t do on that that I can do on this? Not looking to connect a midi keyboard or anything I strictly use samples from the song I’m using
NoiZReduction yeah it’s dope for sure and probably all you really need for what I do .. I can get the sample convert it and have it into my mpc app in a minute then chop chop chop 🔪 How would you export a beat from MPC ONE? SD card to computer? If so that’s a whole other step you can avoid by using iMPC... I think I went the best route on buying the iPad because you can play with the iMaschine 2 app as well💯✅
Thank You for taking the time to explain and go thru this ! I am, as they say, a Newbie. and I’ve got mine just now, and can do with all the help I can get ! Appreciation, from England, U.K. P.S. @@dugnice It wouldnt be a bad move??? Bahahahahah! Depending on the purpose of use, it may be the worst move ever. This unit is a massive downgrade of an MPC 2000. MPC 2000 is a full blown "standalone" midi sequencer/drum sampler/drum machine that comes with 8 optional outputs/effects board/SMPTE. It's not a Workstation, so it doesnt come with internal sounds, tracks, etc. It is designed to sync with midi hardware gear and legacy recording (reel to reel/adat/portable digital recording studios, etc). Whereas this MPC One is a Workstation and Controller. If you want internal sounds, recording, and mixing, all in one box, or exporting to your DAW, MPC One seems great for that. But it is not designed to work with legacy gear like an MPC 2000.
@@dianevrules You're right in that it depends on the intended use whether or not getting an MPC One is a bad move. The poster is considering *upgrading* from an MPC 2000 to an MPC One, so it wouldn't be a bad move, because the One is superior to the 2000 in almost every way.

Hey Alex, looks like the sample time is capped at 19 minutes and 59 seconds in stand alone and in controller mode. That’s consistent with the Live and the X. Hope this helps.

It is entry as far as the price of other stand alone MPCs definitely get bang for your buck with it. I’m pretty sure I said it has 2 gigs of RAM and 2 available gigs of storage. Either way there’s definitely not 6Gbs of storage on the MPC One. The actual specs are 2GB of RAM and 4GB of storage, however 2GB of that storage has pre-installed content leaving 2GB free for onboard storage. RAM is different from storage, you don’t add those together to get the storage capacity of a device which is how i assume you got 6GB of storage. www.akaipro.com/mpc-one if you want to check. To dj instrumental I see how you feel about the older mpc models and I respect your opinion because I felt the same way until I went to guitar center and tried the new one out and I found out that it did the same thing as the old one it just had some new features that does actually help the work flow and it comes with newer drum kits
@DJ Instrumental Jay 22:43 Too bad it doesnt look or feel like a 2000xl. But for those who havent touched a 2000xl, they will buy into that look and feel bs. I still have my 2000 Studio Plus. I'm thinking of selling my Mpc live. I can't get to grips with it. The work flow is hard to get used to. Will you make any beat making tutorials?
Richard Tovey Thanks! Trust that problem is solved. Appreciate the feedback!
I’m using impcpro2 on my iPad .. is there things I can’t do on that that I can do on this?
Not looking to connect a midi keyboard or anything
I strictly use samples from the song I’m using
THEMONSTERMATTMAN I can’t speak to that because I’ve never used the iMPC app before although from what I’ve seen of it it seems dope.
NoiZReduction yeah it’s dope for sure and probably all you really need for what I do .. I can get the sample convert it and have it into my mpc app in a minute then chop chop chop 🔪
How would you export a beat from MPC ONE? SD card to computer? If so that’s a whole other step you can avoid by using iMPC... I think I went the best route on buying the iPad because you can play with the iMaschine 2 app as well💯✅
Thank You for taking the time to explain and go thru this ! I am, as they say, a Newbie. and I’ve got mine just now, and can do with all the help I can get ! Appreciation, from England, U.K. P.S. How much are a pair of the night goggles the S.A.S or The Navy Seals use, as I can hardly see a fucking thing ? 😉
mike hardy thanks for watching. Stay tuned, there is and will be more videos based on the MPC One on my channel.
Does it have the same audio interface with mpc x? Great video!
forfun 1991 same interface just more inputs and outputs on the X of course.
@@NoiZReduction Thanks!
How can I get knowledge of learning and understanding a mpc? An I just ordered me a mpc one
Nobias Jones Stay tuned.
mz ok thx
are you gonna upload production content using mpc devices?
mougabo absolutely! Stay tuned!
Yo Booker is this your channel??? Also this is Myles Davis
Make Better Music Now Yup!
why didn't you mention the plastic case it's made of and how cheap it looks
How hard do the factory 808s hit?
The Crazy Canadian pretty damn hard, but that’s just my opinion.
@@NoiZReduction does it come with different samples than the samples that are included with the live?
I've got a 2015 Mac book pro. Could I still use a normal usb instead of the one that the machine comes with?
not sure what you mean by normal usb.
@7:15 have you already checked out what this does? cheers
This review was great, I only wished that you turned on a light so we could see the MPC more clearly. Otherwise dope cop Fam!
lol. It will be better going forward. Thanks for watching!
@@NoiZReduction All love Fam, No problem at!💯
This maybe my new upgrade from my mpc2000
Wouldn't be a bad move.
@@dianevrules
You're right in that it depends on the intended use whether or not getting an MPC One is a bad move.
The poster is considering *upgrading* from an MPC 2000 to an MPC One, so it wouldn't be a bad move, because the One is superior to the 2000 in almost every way.
@@dugnice 💯💯💯
Can you still sample through the stereo in as opposed to importing all samples
Kristopher Hand yes.
Great review !Pretty video booker.good job!
Masada Mpc much appreciated Masada! 👊🏽
8 stereo Tr. to mono (16Tr.) monosamples plus pan? Regards
how come when i go to track one and press the keyboard symbol...nuthin plays. why dont my instruments play?
Are you able to add your own third-party vsts?
Joe Boo not in standalone. You can in controller mode controlling the MPC software.
@@NoiZReduction brutal. Is that going to be possible or not something they want to do? Have so many vsts and effects I would love to use without a pc. If that's the case il just keep my studio and ren.
Thanks man
Joe Boo not sure what the future holds. Sorry
no dis.......but how did you get this before me with 340 subs??!! just kidding, but yeah. just ordered mine from sweetwater which was supposed to be the first to have it??? enjoy Brauh.....ima clock/midi to my 2000xl.......Barz. Can you connect a usb hard drive to this????
RaJuR real deep kool BarZ BundalZ & BoxingZ It ain’t about the subs! 🤷🏽♂️ Lol. Yes to the USB hard drive.
Do you know how long it can record or sample for?, thanks
Alex Anderson In stand alone the sample time is limited to the 2gb of RAM. I don’t know exactly how much sample time that is in minutes in seconds off the top of my head but I will look into that for you. Thanks for watching.
Hey Alex, looks like the sample time is capped at 19 minutes and 59 seconds in stand alone and in controller mode. That’s consistent with the Live and the X. Hope this helps.
NoiZReduction hey, I really appreciate this and the great review, many thanks!
Verry professional. ⛩️🌆
Is this your new channel, Booker?
Alex Pro Mix Yes it is! Thanks for watching!
great video but very dark cant see the MPC
Shazamm the iPad Producer will be fixed going forward! Thanks!
@@NoiZReduction yes sir i think this is great for people wanting a great beat machine. I have the X and the Live and this is another great product by Akai
But as a Live and Force owner I just got the one ! I have a 128Gig SD card in it with all the sounds that came on my Live, but I might use 4% of the factory sounds there is nothing entry about this MPC you just lowered the price I don’t use CV gate or Bluetooth or WiFi MPC ONE is a Homerun🚀 having the buttons 🔥🎯 also there is 6 Gigs of Storage not 2.
Thanks for watching!
Great vid Bro!!! Super clear. What was that smoking device on the side of your desk?
Gans surprizingly you are the first person to ask. That’s my oil diffuser. I have one in all of my studios, my office and all through my home. Very relaxing and smells good lol.
@@NoiZReduction Thanks Bro, I found it on Amazon. Just subbed too!
What size are the pads?
Circuit_Cirkus about 1 inch tall and wide.
If you turn light completely, telling what’s on the back side of the box will be even more informative LOL anyways, thanx to comparison to live/x, we all want to hear. TNX!
Hey! Nice review! Subscribed!
Savage Tv Productions Thanks for the compliment and subscription! First subscriber! Much appreciated!
Great vid
Nice b roll man.
Alex V thanks!
I SUBSCRIBED ! But weren't you on another channel? Good Stuff!
Audio Guild I had another channel years ago, Atlanta Logic Trainer. I will be bringing that to this channel. Thanks for subscribing.
Nice video...How can i become a great beat maker?
How in the world do you have 197 subscribers, and no content at all but this video. Just wondering.
Great first impression? lol
How u get it so quick ?
Mike P. See my response to Derrick earlier. Thanks for watching.
💪🏼💪🏼 make a beat with it and posted it up 🙏🏼
Im wondering if I should sell my MPC 1000 that I got last year for this. Hmm decisions decisions.
JEFFMAN90 🤔 🤷🏽♂️ lol. Think you’re in a good situation either way. Thanks for watching!
Yeah you should I was in the same situation you are in now I had just bought a brand new mpc 1000 for 1600 dollars to come and find out that the mpc live just had came out I sold my mpc1000 for lower than I bought it for and put the money toward the mpc live the difference was night and day it had all the features your use to using right now and new ones that were very useful toward a quick work flow so yes you should fam it's gone have you very happy with it much love !
@@daunknown5663 Ya thats true plus its workflow is probably similar to the Ren's that I had until last year.
To dj instrumental I see how you feel about the older mpc models and I respect your opinion because I felt the same way until I went to guitar center and tried the new one out and I found out that it did the same thing as the old one it just had some new features that does actually help the work flow and it comes with newer drum kits
Yes you won’t look back!
Breda you need to do something with your light your video is too dark
MORE MPC!
Noice
jo pro the smokemashine is toxic for the mpc ;)
Please show sounds it came with.....
got it .Still scratching my head.I am a total novice on any MPC ...and im an idiot...
i will wait for the Mpc2 wehn the screen lifts up.. i already see it coming..
@DJ Instrumental Jay Exactly, I def need more memory lol I have Mpc rennasaince and mpc2500. for now
@DJ Instrumental Jay 22:43 Too bad it doesnt look or feel like a 2000xl. But for those who havent touched a 2000xl, they will buy into that look and feel bs. I still have my 2000 Studio Plus. I remember when 3000 owners used to say that my ish looked like a toy and was inferior. Now I can empathize with them mfs. Because this MPC One looks like a toy workstation. Not an MPC.
SUBBED!
You can't even get the live new anymore just used
I know this is a “unboxing “ video but, Way too much time taken talking about the “BOX” and the “POWER LEAD!” Very polished look and presentation, but please get to the product quicker!
Trevor Malcolm Lol.... you can always fast forward 🤷🏽♂️
@@NoiZReduction No. You did great job. I watched the whole video. Tell him to STFU!
