This is why I prefer the old EU. Luke, Han, and Leia didn't regress, they progressed with Luke being a badass Grandmaster, marrying the awesome Mara Jade, Han and Leia still having adventures with the latter becoming a fierce senator like her mother and even receiving Jedi training, Kyle Katarn who showed that there was more to the force than light and dark, how they could be used together, Thrawn, etc. All now flushed away by the mouse.

EU is the true Star Wars canon
All the stories were very good I will always remember Kyle Katarn, Mara Jade, Jacen Jaina and Anakin Solo, Thrawn, Revan, Bastila Galen Marek etc.
Disney is not capable of creating a character as iconic as the ones mentioned

Love exploring if not seeing the place in Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, especially if you read the Jedi Academy novels, Darksaber, and even the Junior and Young Jedi Knights YA novels.
Sad to see it go in the New Jedi Order novels. Blasted Yuuzhan Vong and their Peace Brigade collaborators.

It's not that it was bad, it just didn't make any new expansive material. I'd argue John Williams work with the Prequels did this better.
