@gghrtx2 yes, I guessed but it was a joke, the thing is that beacuse we are French, speaking is natural for us and we don't take into account all the rules, we sometimes even don't know or don't remember, one example, we use to say Mode Indicatif, but do we know what mode means?
@richefilon "en" is used like "à" but for places (in your first sentence), so the pronoun is "y", but "en" has several meanings in French. (j 'en viens, here it is not the same "en") En is used with prepositional verbs using "de" and "y" with verbs using "à" (nothing to do with places or objects)
@sinecosine23 I made a book about the most popular verbs using these prepositions, you can find it on my website frenchspanishonline. eBook PDF or ePub, or if you prefer the paper back version it is on lulu.com "French verbs with prepositons"
@valeriexq the pronunciation is different but you can have a look on my main website, you will find lessons in Spanish too aboot greetings, familly etc... merci!
No need to watch this video again. This was the last time I needed to see a video on this. I understood everything, well 85%. Anyhow, I got it, I know hot to use them now. Merci beaucoup pour la video.
Complicated and will take a few watchings to get it all firmly understood but I'm so pleased to see this video. It has cleared up some things that have been confusing me for (hate to say it) years!! Many thanks Pascal. I love your explanations.
SO helpful! I have a test in an hour and I was wracking my brain all yesturday trying to comprehend these crazy pronouns! I'm so comming here to get reviews and lectures I can watch over and over again. Thank you SOOO much!!
I really liked the lesson btw. I have a question though; what about le la les? Like did you like the flowers, "Oui, je les aimes." Or am I just confusing myself with that?
Hello Pascal, your videos very very useful. I have a question on this video...I can only use the words 'en' and 'y' when we already know what we are talking about? I can't simply begin a conversation by saying "j'en ai pris"? or 'je n'en ai pas' I have another request...is it possible for you to do videos showing different scenarios in everyday life, using your lessons? like in the supermarket or the post office etc? They will be super useful! thanks a million for all your help.
@Strega222 your French is good, just two things: to confuse is translated by "perdre" (to lose) je suis perdue avec las pronoms, and How good is my French is Mon français est-il bon? you visit me on my website and facebook for the daily expressions.
yes, this is a very important lessons. These seemingly small words go a long way in French, I am sure. they confuse the French learners a great deal! Thank you so much for the lesson.
Je voudrais à vous remercier pour tout l'aide vous avez me donné avec ce vidéo. Les pronoms réfléchies me confondre pour un longtemps avant J'ai regarde ce vidéo. S'il vous plait, ditez-moi, comment bon est mon Français? Merci beaucoup!
@valeriexq thank you, I know that some teachers prefers what they call "total immersion" in French but they don't understand that we need 24h a day to really understand, some hours a week are not enough (even if my English is not perfect, it helps ;)
my french teacher dun like to speak in english when he tought and makes me difficult to understand it, but this clip is great, it helps understand better :)
thank you so much for this lesson!! Its helped me greatly, and i have a better understanding of Y and En now!! Thank you so much!! i hope i do good on my test tomrrow!!!
well well well, the video says that we use "en" with the verbs using "de" as preposition, the verb lire is not part of these prepositional verbs, so je le lis or la or les. but if you say - tu lis des livres (here we have our prepositions des) so the reply may be: -Oui, j'en lis (here the meaning is 'some')
I’m fluent in Spanish and English, now trying French ...I thought it will be easier, but it’s not...anyway, I will learn it :0)thanks for the video Pascal
I need major help in this : For the sentence: Elle pense aux vacances, why does the y go between Elle and pense? How do I know where the Y is supposed to go? Same goes for EN, how do I know where it's supposed to go?
Learn French with Pascal Right, but it's similarly used as a pronoun, similar to the English word 'it'? Because j'y pense is I think about it, so is the use of 'y' or 'en' similar to something like 'ca' or 'le/la/les'?
Tuttilicious in your sentence Y is not jsut 'it' but 'about it' and in your case it should be something "à ce sujet" or "à celaà, je pense à ce sujet or je pense à cela but with the preposition à, preposition we don't need we Y
@lsfrench yaya, this is what he told to us too...well, it has both good and bad side..but anyway, no matter how difficult is it, i will continue learning this language that i love so much :) is french similar to spanish? i do like spanish..
Thanks a lot for the video, but I am still confused. How about this example that I read earlier today? (Je ne mange pas des noix, parce que j'y suis allergique.)
Merci. Mais, excuse my stupidity, but why would we not use "le" or "la" where we use "en" or "y"? Is it that with "a" and "de" we have to use "en" and "y"? Thanks!
Your channel is a treasure for French learners. No noise. Lessons straight to the point and stay in the memory. You are a great teacher.

2. There is an expression says Je vous en prie. Does it belong to this case also?

@valeriexq thank you, I know that some teachers prefers what they call "total immersion" in French but they don't understand that we need 24h a day to really understand, some hours a week are not enough (even if my English is not perfect, it helps ;)

Great, genial
Great lesson ! Merci !

well, En has sometimes this notion of quantity but not all the time
parfait! i'm ready for my writing exam! thank you ♥
it is the rule, this little word comes before the last verb:
Elle y pense, elle veut y aller.
Omg you are such a good teacher.
Merci bien pour cette vidéo Pascal!
merci beaucoup , bonnes classes
OMG u explained it better than my teacher!!!
Very useful lesson.thanks its work ing
the explanation is in the video; penser à = y, parler de= en!
@Dan5482 de rien! please tell your friends and visit my website, it is free!Pascal
I need major help in this :
For the sentence: Elle pense aux vacances, why does the y go between Elle and pense?
How do I know where the Y is supposed to go?
Same goes for EN, how do I know where it's supposed to go?
@Promthanius you are welcome, tell the world!!! ;) I am on frenchspanishonline . com
So can y and en in these circumstances replace ca and le/la/les?
When I say le/la/les I mean je les aime, tu l'as envoyee, etc.
Thanks ^.^
Tuttilicious following the rules, we need the preposition à, in your exemples with aimer and envoyer, we don't have it, so it is not possible to use Y
Learn French with Pascal Right, but it's similarly used as a pronoun, similar to the English word 'it'? Because j'y pense is I think about it, so is the use of 'y' or 'en' similar to something like 'ca' or 'le/la/les'?
Tuttilicious in your sentence Y is not jsut 'it' but 'about it' and in your case it should be something "à ce sujet" or "à celaà, je pense à ce sujet or je pense à cela but with the preposition à, preposition we don't need we Y
merci pour cette leçon ;)
très bien expliqué ... merci!
same rule: the verb is "être allergique à", so because of the preposition à, you need y! easy?
Parfait explaination! Merci beaucoup!
Charles Stiles merci
is this the equivalent of "ne" in italian to replace a noun? thnx
@lsfrench yaya, this is what he told to us too...well, it has both good and bad side..but anyway, no matter how difficult is it, i will continue learning this language that i love so much :) is french similar to spanish? i do like spanish..
Cette video m'aide bien.
Merci!
Thanks a lot for the video, but I am still confused. How about this example that I read earlier today? (Je ne mange pas des noix, parce que j'y suis allergique.)
Cest tres claire !!
merci beaucoup.
au revoir.
what's the difference between "penser a" and "penser de"?
penser à: to think to, penser de: to think about
merci aussi!
Learn French with Pascal
merci beaucoup! maintenant, je suis prêt pour mon examen demain!
très bien, vous me direz comment ça s'est passé :)
+Learn French with Pascal haha, je le trouve drôle qu'elle ne t'a repondu jamais
+Marco Ruben Abuyuan Llanes il se peut qu'elle a echoué
Merci. Mais, excuse my stupidity, but why would we not use "le" or "la" where we use "en" or "y"? Is it that with "a" and "de" we have to use "en" and "y"? Thanks!
I've learned more on TH-cam than in school. Seriously.
La classe a ete tres tres bonne . Merci . Jordy
very good explanation!
il y a une leçon sur l'imparfait
excellently explained....thank you!
Hold on, so which one represents a quantity? Y or En??
Watching this vedio is totally worth it
Merci
Very good to learn about Y and En and when to use them, but unfortunately he is not saying the sentences slower.
Well slower is not French, you need to tune your ears and will progress faster
Thank you for video, one question I thought it was correct Je parle de lui and not j'en parle.
i have an exam tomorrow! and i havent been paying any attention to my teacher :O
