Love the show, Michael! Love your take on this: Mario swung and missed on Mateer. Just about everyone knew he was going to OU and follow his OC/QB coach. How can Mario and his staff, after seeing Emory day after day, think he was the man moving forward? Meanwhile, although last year's portal QB pool was deeper, Mario sat and watched Darian Mensa; Kaden Salter; and even Malik Murphy chose teams, without even attempting to secure a visit to Miami. Was that malpractice, or just ego, thinking that since he landed Cam Ward last year, he would certainly land John Mateer this year? So, now Miami is operating from a position of weakness, because desperation must be setting in after seeing Emory's performance. Look, I'm a nice guy and a loyal person, but that doesn't mean I am, or ever will be, a comedian or a quarterback. Emory is a great kid, tough as nails, and loyal to Miami, but the fact is that he's a statue, has limited athletic ability, has an average arm at best, completely froze against Iowa State, and frankly looked terrified out there. Other portal qb's now fully understand Miami's position, that their best quarterback is most likely an 18 year old freshman, Luke Nickel. Miami will have no choice but to overpay in order to lure someone to come here and play qb next season. I just don't understand how no one on that staff saw what we saw. I have heard how great Emory has looked in practice, but to be honest, against this horrific defense, I'd look great in practice, too. To say I'm concerned moving forward is an understatement. The "I'm rolling with #17" crowd has gone silent. And that's a great thing, because #17 isn't going to elevate this program and after seeing this performance, it's very clear that without Cam this season, in addition to this horrific defense and DC, Miami would have been a 5-7 team at best!!!! Am I telling lies? Happy New Year, brother.

We want players that dont want to be here because they are the better players. You can't celebrate getting lesser talent just because they wanted to be here.
@ComicsOnCanes you aren't understanding that settling for worse talent and celebrating is the same thing as knowing you have a coach that doesn't elevate or develop talent but you expect him to win with less. Mario isn't that good of a coach nor can he hire a staff that can develop and scheme well enough to take 3 star kids and be competitive/win at a high level. In other words Mario needs a loaded team of top 5 blue chip ratio talent to accomplish any thing.
Emory is not special I would get Luke ready and split time with both and see who does better because Emory has not earned anything he a bench warmer until he wins the job so tear him like what he is
JMateer to be Steve young style quarterback or college Riley skinner and Emory is not elite at all I would rather give Luke the job . Portal quarterback have nothing to do with being able to recruit elite quarterbacks Miami wasn’t doing it before so that not changing . And 25 years of pocket passing quarterbacks has proven that these aren’t the quarterbacks that when in Miami balance quarterback win here point blank
