Those same mfers can make a better mech by using marauders and catapults. Could have just added catapult weapon sockets and would have been fine. But no.
The funniest part of the Rakshasha is that it would have been amongst the greatest ‘mechs of its age….. if it was made before the Clans showed up with the MadCat. An advanced weapons loadout, decent all round capabilities, and decent speed would have made it the terror of the 4th succession war that was considered a respectable if outdated design compared to the Clanner’s machine.
"Command this is Alpha 1, we have an unidentified flying sleigh, permission to engage!" "Negative Alpha 1, return to patrol and no more schnapps for you."
I want to put together a picture of three Timber Wolves and a Rakshasa that is captioned "Day 327: The Clanners still haven't figured out I'm not one of them."
Didnt know that this channel existed until now, and I'm quite happy to found it. The whole MW2 mechlab setup is so cool and at least I get to know more underdog mechs trough the videos. Thank you and have a like/sub.
I tend to wonder if this mech could have been the clans original vision made real for the earlier design concept of the timberwolf before omni mech technology was developed. I wouldn't be surprised if someone in the clans thought of a machine like the rakshasa but shelved it and in a twist of ironic fate the inner sphere pursued it getting the idea based on the Kell hounds first encounter with the mech that resulted in the name madcat.
Hello Farseer. Although the Rakshasa is a 'fine' Mech, it does have room for improvement. Remove the Medium Pulse Laser, Both LRM-10's, Both Artemis IV's, and ammo. Replace the Pulse laser with TWO 'standard' Medium Lasers (one in each side torso, or both in Center Torso). Replace LRM-10's, Artemis IV's and ammo with: FOUR Steak SRM-4's and two tons of ammo. Two Streak SRM-4's going to each side torso, along with one ton of SRM ammunition. Since the four Streaks will normally not all fire in the same turn of play, heat issues are 'minimal', and wise usage of the Medium and Larger Lasers should keep overall 'heat burden' of combat to a minimal level. I know this reduces the Rakshasa's overall combat range, and instead, turns it into more of a 'brawler' design... this is a bit more 'efficient'. If worries about heat are an issue, then completely drop the pulse medium laser in favor of two more IS double head sinks. This would increase head dissipation to 34, allowing the Mech to fire both standard Large Lasers, all Four of it's Streak SRMs, AND both of it's standard Medium Lasers, AND run, and still have a maximum (if all SRMS actually fire) heat burden of 2x8+(4x3)+(2x3)+2= 36 heat generated. Thus, (provided all four SRMs actually fire) a 'heat burden' of +2 heat per turn. Otherwise (if one or more SRMs do NOT fire) the Mech runs 'cool', even while running at full speed across the battlefield. With a speed of 5/8/0, the Mech should be able to close on Enemy positions fairly quickly, and generate a decent penalty to be fired upon as it closes distance. just my thoughts, speaking, Frank-ly
Just finished watching all the MechLab videos. Have to say I sort of appreciate the older videos with their inclusion of spec information being written down - having the variants information was nice too.
the thing would not be able to turn and walk with its arm pods rubbing up right next to the leg joints...mwo's timber wolf design has a similar problem.
This thing's tabletop art looks a bit weird, but you made it look great! Ever since I first heard of this thing, I wanted it to make an appearance in at least one _MechWarrior_ game, even if it had to co-exist with the Clan OmniMech it was based on. It may not ever happen, but I can dream. lol
May I make a suggestion? I'd love to see your resign of the Avalanche. I saw what you did with the spheroid Uziel, so I was wondering what you'd do to a mech that is even rounder. Also, I love the Rakshasa! Mostly because it's not (technically) a clanner design, but still looks as amazing as a Mad Cat. There's not much about it in media, so I think it's really you made a video about it!
How to fix the mech: Remove Ferro-Fibrous, Pulse Laser, and Artemis. Add standard or light Ferro-Fibrous. Add 2 Double Heat Sinks. Case on both torso sides. Machine gun with half ton of ammo. Can fire LRMs and ER Large without overheat.
Don't be sassing the 1b, that reduced heat profile let's you practically alpha every turn with minimal issues. People be sleeping on just how much extra heat those ERLL's put out compared to the standard LL's.
Thanks to Bishop Steiner for the concept for this mech!
love it mate, thanks for bringing it to life!
Bishop Steiner... now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
Too bad it's like a piss poor attempt at the Mad cat.

"Mom. Can I get a Timberwolf?"
"We have a Timberwolf at home."
Timberwolf at home...
I like the 'lava planet' camo there.
The kmart madcat!
dude that's perfect
I know a guy who has best price in Inner Sphere for Top Condition MadWolf !!!!
Discount Dan has the wor- best deals ever. My fucking right arm just fe-worked perfectly.
"Tabletop games. Waste of time. Nerds!" HAH, well played, sir!
Cheers, and happy Festivus.
Finally. A video on a under appreciated mech.
any one else replay the first few seconds to try to make out what was pulling the dropship sleigh?
Spoilers:
A bunch of Rein-Goliaths!
now this is a Christmas Present.
3:30 The MDG-2A carries a Rotary Autocannon 5, not an Ultra Autocannon 5. I'm sure it's been pointed out already but I wanted to make sure.
Woohoo another video, you've made my Christmas
Didnt know that this channel existed until now, and I'm quite happy to found it. The whole MW2 mechlab setup is so cool and at least I get to know more underdog mechs trough the videos. Thank you and have a like/sub.
Imagine a Timber Wolf having the same targeting computer glitch with this fake version? It's even built on a Marauder Chassis! MAD?CAT?
Or possibly it reads as TBR-Unknown config.
For a copycat it looks pretty good. Excellent job on the opening too! XD

Nice job with the modeling, it's an awesome take on the design. Appreciate the Christmas themed opening as well. Have a happy holidays.
Looks good! Has a grate feel for , almost mad cat,
Tabletop games. Like BattleTech. 🙃
And all things considered, it's not a bad mech. It's just not a MadCat.

Actually the mdg-2a carry’s a rotary auto cannon 5 not a ultra auto cannon
Great vid, and great model for the Rakshasa, any chance we can get a .stl for 3d printing?
Sure, let me see if I can find a converter for it
@@FarseerAnimation I think all you would need to do is export as a .obj, most slicer software can do the conversion from there.
This was great. I love the graphics.
Keep up the fine work! Merry X-Mas!
I didn't know about this mech before. It looks really cool
Hey, Farseer, you should give the Lancelot some love next.
Seconded!
Thanks for the Upload man!
Personally one of my favorites.
One of my favorite mechs. I would love to see it in the games
Most of the big mods bring Rakshasa ino HBS's Battletech. Great machine, the only thing I ever switch my Catapult for.
@@bezyn2291 thanks for the info! I might look for one of those mods and re-play the game.
It does show up in Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries but good luck getting that to run
Just finished watching all the MechLab videos. Have to say I sort of appreciate the older videos with their inclusion of spec information being written down - having the variants information was nice too.
Great work. any chance you can do a video on. fafnir fnr-5, Kodiak or YMN-6y yeoman.

Check MechWarrior Mercenaries 2, Instant action ;)
Really love these info vids. It would be awesome to play a MechWarrior game that used the models you make for these videos.
May I make a suggestion?

The technical readout on it is good
I wonder if these models could work well with supreme commander forged alliance.
NOOOOO~
Not the Egg nog. We lost him to Egg nog guys.
I prefer these academic, matter of fact overviews rather than the later ones that inject cringey humour as a Tex imitation
tabletop games haha!
How to fix the mech:
Remove Ferro-Fibrous, Pulse Laser, and Artemis.
Add standard or light Ferro-Fibrous.
Add 2 Double Heat Sinks.

Machine gun with half ton of ammo.

That's a nice looking model. The MW2: Mercenaries model is absolute hot garbage, but this? I like this...
Good Job!
Atlas when?
did you ever finish the movie?
Which one? I've done a few
The crime isn't that they made an inferior copy, the crime is that they tried.
- a guy that doesn't like clanners
19 million cbills!? I could buy 3 Awesomes for that price!
Well... You can't say they did not try
Not to be rude, only about five seconds in. It looks like mad cat light
Don't be sassing the 1b, that reduced heat profile let's you practically alpha every turn with minimal issues. People be sleeping on just how much extra heat those ERLL's put out compared to the standard LL's.
Trigger discipline? What is this strange language you speak? :)
The IS couldn't make a good mech so they just copied the Clans...
The IS had some really good heavy Mechs but Clan Harmony Gold sued the IS and made it so they couldn't be fielded.
What a sad, unfortunate design.
