Hyakinthos died such a tragic death. From what ive seen, there is little myth about who he was as a person. But to have earned the love of two gods, he must have been very wondeful indeed.
This is amazing the lyrics touch me so much especially the part "maybe in another life, the universe will let me keep you" it made me tear up cuz I've heard the story of hyacinthus and apollo countless of times since its my favorite story in the whole world you need recognition for this beautiful song
@@bonafidesunyeah... According to some stories, they really loved each others. Apollo left his duties (like the oracle) to be more time with Hyacinthus, and Hyacinthus wanted to see Apollo every day.... So yeah, they deserved to be togheter
im transgender and i chose hyacinthus as my name ( half because i love the name , half because my partner is named apollo ) this song gives me such big euphoria thank you for writing this oh my god
ahhh i love this so much!!! I just wanted to say that i absolutely adore all of your music, and you are one of the reasons why i got back into songwriting :) your lyricism is always so beautiful and your harmonies are haunting and ethereal and i really really just love everything you create :) i hope you have a lovely day and i can't wait to hear what you make next :D
I don’t know if I’m being especially mentally unstable or if it’s just that good, but I literally cry every time I listen to this song. (Given I’ve been obsessed and had it on repeat for like a week straight, I’m very dehydrated and emotionally distraught.)
I used this for a project on the meaning of figurative language in music. So fun!! I especially love the line "shrouded in sunlight" and the many meanings it can have relating to apollo.
Discovered your music a few days ago. My. God. Hadn’t heard such amazing songs in so much time. Specially this one!!! Thank you so much for putting out these masterpieces
A part of my heart aches with the story of Hyacinthus, partially because not many people understand why he had to die. They paint Zephyrus in an evil light often, and as a worshiper of Chloris and Zephyrus I would like to share what the other side of the story looks like. Of course there is dispute over what “is true”, who was the real villain, stuff like that. So regard this as a educational bit, rather than a who-was-wrong-and-why bit. I personally think everyone but Chloris was in the wrong 😂 Zephyrus is the Greek God of the West Winds, and Chloris is (one of) his wives (she is the Goddess of flowers). Zephyrus had an intense infatuation with Hyacinthus, and was very jealous of Apollo who, if you know a bit about, tends to have many potential love interests. Jealousy over Apollo’s charm is not uncommon among the Greek Gods hahaha Anywho. Zephyrus wanted to kill Apollo, because then he would have Hyacinthus. Lots of weird moral issues here- kinda messed up, but was Apollo just charming Hyacinthus? Some writings say Hyacinthus loved Zephyrus back, some say Hyacinthus loved Apollo and don’t really mention Zephyrus. Who knows! As a follower though I try to keep an open mind as to what each artist wanted to interpret with their stories. So let’s continue the path following Zephyrus’ jealousy. As you know, Hyacinthus died tragically with a discus which hit his head. Most say this either happened due to Hyacinthus’ own clumsiness OR by the hands of none other but Zephyrus. And if we follow the latter, it would in fact be true that Zephyrus killed Hyacinthus. I’m Zephyrus’ story, he aimed to kill Apollo and missed. Obviously this makes more issues but let’s stop, and turn back to our beautiful lady Chloris. Zephyrus and Apollo mourn the death of Hyacinthus. Seeing her husband sad, Chloris creates the flower “hyacinth”, who’s language is “sadness, mourning”. No matter where you fall we can all agree that it was a very sweet thing for Chloris to do (I love her so much) So if you’ve read this far, now you know a second perspective of the story of Apollo and Zephyrus. What you will do with this knowledge, who knows! I learned it because I worship Zephyrus and Chloris. However, mythology only is true depending on what each artist depicts it as (which is truly how Greek Gods came to be- humans were afraid of dark and evil magic and the artists and poets created the Gods to protect them. That’s why everything *has* a god, from the forest to the rivers to the vast sky. And the Gods, according to Greek Mythology, became alive due to the power their followers gave them. Not many people know that either! A massive win for the artists!). Whichever storyline you prefer is the one that will be the true storyline. For me, of course, that’s with Chloris and Zephyrus’ perspective. But if not for you, completely valid as well 💚
Well, i love the story of Apollo and Hyacinthus, but i don't make Zephyrus looks "a villain" because gods are not evil, they're not bads or goods... Zephyrus killed Hyacinthus in one version, in other was Apollo unintentional because Hyacinthus wanted to catch the discuss and failed... So we can't blame a god, in some stories, was Boreas and not Zephyrus. Even if was Chloris or Apollo the one who created the flower, is a pretty and tragic story, but i don't blame Zephyrus... Yeah, i feel bad for Lord Apollon, i really liked how he and Hyacinthus were in love, but well, things happened. So you're a hellenic polytheist? 👀
@virginiacassinari21 yeah! I mean, I wouldn't consider myself anything of a radical worshiper or even that of a well versed one, but I do in fact worship both Zephryus and Chloris, more so Chloris, but in recent months I've been coming closer with the west wind. I study the language of the flowers and with it give my appreciation to them through offerings of flowers and simple meals of rice and honey. I ponder words of wisdom through them and ways to tackle life through stories told through them. I don't live in an area where either of their cults have followings, let alone are known, so its sort of just me and my little alter and appreciation. Words of thanks. Readings every now and then. In the springtime, I bring many wildflowers and bird feathers for them and decorate the alter with it. It's small and it's humble, but I think that it captures well the home and familiarity I find within the two of them. Through Zephyrus I find strength and freedom, and through Chloris I find communication and world beauty. I like to think through their followers, they see gratification and appreciation of their blessings. These things are a simple key to happiness for me, and perhaps for many others! But, as I said, I don't have a lot of ways to learn proactively about either religions. I live in a small town in the west hahaha, which makes great for worshiping a west wind god. I know, many things I know are interpreted wrong, and many ways I worship are probably incorrect, and hope that in time I'll learn better and learn more in my own little adventure. It is the way of things ^^
@@rue_paints I think all the gods had so many special forms to communicate... Maybe modern media had put on ours head the idea of "he/she is good" and "he/she is bad", when for the religion in Ancient Greece there no gods who was evil or good... They were gods, they represents their domains, all those stories and myths brings lesson and explain certain thing... (like in this case, the origin of hyacinth's flower). Is good to know another worshiper, specially for deities like Zephyrus or Chloris, it's more common to see Aphrodite or another olympian's worshiper 😅 I discovered recently the modern Hellenism... I'm not a polytheist yet, but i love Artemis and Apollon. Also i love Hyacinthus and all the story with him. We all know the Zephyrus-Apollo-Hyacinthus story, but he was a pre-hellenic deity worshiped in Amyclae, Sparta. When Apollo's cult comes there, they were worshiped togheter, i would like to imagine that was a couple 🤭 Zephyrus and Chloris's love is so cute and i love it too, good for you to feel them and i hope they continue giving you the strength and freedom and the communication and world beauty ✨ Anyway, in this beautiful song Zephyrus is not mentioned, is just like a love letter from Apollon to Hyacinthus 🤗
Oh, this is beautiful. Ive been on a search for songs to add to an OC ship playlist of mine, and so many of the lyrics fit the two of them so much. Not to mention the way this song is? God its the prettiest thing
This song is so beautiful to such a tragic story...I made a vase of artificial sunflowers and hyacinth flowers in so they could be together immortaly, I placed the sunflowers in the center and surrounded them with red, yellow, pink, light purple, and deep purple hyacinth flowers as an offering to them both because they are my otp in all of greek mythology 💜💛
i love your music so much- the first song i found was persephone in the garden when it was still a demo and it’s amazing how much your channel has grown 💖
Please release an instrumental version (with background vocals)!!! I really love this song and the myth it is associated with, and would just love to sing a karaoke version!!!
