The cutter bar set to high that's why it's not pulling it right in hot to tap it lol lower the cutter bar and reset the blades and it will eat like a new one .had one for ever I was brought up on one and have had them apart more then I care to remember lol if the bar set to high it will always fight u
Mitts and Merrill is a better chuck and duck. It has 12 knives staggered (on 16" superior model) so it is always getting hit with a knife and pulls way better and makes smaller chips that make better mulch. Asplundh just has 4 knives across the rotor.

I HATE those things. Loud and DANGEROUS. Really scared me as a kid. I’m happy I almost never see them anymore.
