    Jay Vincent's videos and his advice on Training properly using HIT Is working great for me ! I also was on the cusp of full blown diabetes from laziness and horrendous food choices i started Keto with intermittent fasting and circuit traing full body workouts every other day I lost 40 lbs fast and my blood normalized again , my body looked better and I felt great , then I found jay vincent and did away with 4x a week full body 3sets of 8 to 10 rep stuff , now I'm doing 2 workouts a week I still do full body workouts but just 1 all out set to absolute muscle failure I am wiped out after my workout ..lol I have built muscle in my legs ,arms chest and back while maintaining my lean look I'm still doing keto I just upped my carbs from 20 g a day to 50 which I try to eat pre and post workout , I'm 62 and look and feel fantastic! Hit training is the way to go ~

    This is actually the best video I have seen on this subject. I once got telephone consultations from Mike Mentzer, and he advised me to increase calories by 500 per day. Well, I did and just got fat. Then I had to cut calories by 500 below maintenance to get lean again, and at the same time I lost all the muscle I had built up during the bulking phase.

      I highly doubt that as he advised in his writing and lectures to not bulk with a surplus over 100 calories a day

    I've never really understood the mantra that cutting calories will result in muscle loss, especially if you are training intensely and consuming adequate quality protein. I can see this for a pro bodybuilder cutting for the last few weeks before a competition, but for joe average it just doesn't ring true. Yes, you may be taking in a reduced amount of calories, but your body isn't in a calorie deficit! Why? Because it is filling the gap by using your bodyfat reserves! With adequate quality protein intake, muscle growth can still occur while losing bodyfat.

    • @mikafoxx2717
      @mikafoxx2717 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, if you ever ran out of energy you would be lethargic and practically hypothermic. Your body is very good at getting body fat when needed. I've fasted for up to days at a time and it can handle that. Nowadays, though, I'd go for protein(muscle) sparing fasts, where you just eat lean protein for your daily needs and whatever fat is incidental in the lean whole food protein. No carbs, for better satiation. Couple days of that a week and you'll lose a lot without losing muscle. About 800 calories a day of mostly protein. You can up the fat for a slower consistent loss as an every day of the week diet. Don't try to do heat lean for months though as you really need omega 3's and fat soluble vitamins.

    Jay - what about intermittent fasting? I have type 2 diabetes. I've been working out for 10 months to build back the muscle that I lost when diabetes was eating away at my body (fat loss and muscle loss). Since then I've learned about intermittent fasting to help manage my blood sugar naturally (NO insulin). BUT I am also trying to keep building up muscles to get even stronger than I was pre-diabetes. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this topic, if you'd be wiling to address it in a video. Thanks in advance!

      Jay , as in my comment I almost ate my way into diabetes. I was definitely insulin resistant and caused myself neuropathy in my feet , low carb and intermittent fasting i fully believe saved my health for sure ! Jay's hit training once I found his channel and started working out properly I have built muscle and my strength and energy have increased as well , I'm 62 it worked for me I think it would work for most everyone , jay may not agree with low carb but it works for me I feel great and low carb does not effect my energy in my life or the gym , I eat alot of healthy fat and fiber that helps as well ,good luck

    • @RichardIngalls
      @RichardIngalls 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@shotgunsnare One year later and I'm still on a low carb, intermittent fasting routine. If my body was "normal" I would have a different diet, for sure. But with type 2 diabetes I have to really watch the types of carbs and amount of carbs I digest and what time of day I eat them. When I was pre-diabetic I ballooned up in weight - very very fat. Then as diabetes fully set in, my body dropped weight like crazy - both muscle and fat. I was crazy weak from all the muscle loss. Doing HIT like Jay teaches (and "Body By Science" / "Power of 10"), combined with intermittent fasting, low-carb and Perfect Amino for my protein source (along with meat) has helped me to build lean muscle mass and drop a lot of body fat.

    • @mikafoxx2717
      @mikafoxx2717 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RichardIngallsOn the contrary.. you are normal, but almost everyone is on their way type II diabetes with the general diet. If you want to gain muscle while on a deficit, try protein sparing modified fasts. You can eat 4x a day but lean protein, which in a sense of carbs really doesn't raise blood glucose significantly, and lean animal protein to your daily optimal needs are only ~800 calories per day.

    • @mikafoxx2717
      @mikafoxx2717 ปีที่แล้ว

      Per pound of ideal body weight. If you're underweight you eat more to trigger more muscle growth, if you're overweight, you eat less, because your body can't handle crazy high protein quantities.

    Is it possible for anyone to get to 15% body fat or is that also something more genetics based?

    • @r.p.mcmurphy4769
      @r.p.mcmurphy4769 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible for anyone, at least for once or a short time, the questtion is: Is it sustainable for anyone in the long run? The answer to that is no, that´s were genetics play a role. Many people on 15% will feel like shit with no energy after a few weeks and will have to go up to maybe 20% to feel optimal
      while others may run around witth 10% all year long and feel great.

    • @mikafoxx2717

      15% isn't a huge ask for healthy people, especially when they're bulked up with more muscle, since it's the same overall weight of fat but lower percentage of body mass.
