@@blueeyedbatman Same here. when I was a kid I could remember walking and going to each house and filling up my bag several times. We didn't care if it was cold out. The walking kept us warm and by the time we got home and got to have our four pieces of candy for the night we slept like the dead and I'd have dreams of the houses with all the decorations. These days can anyone honestly say a child older then a toddler gets worn out enough to even go straight to sleep? I mean we would eat dinner before going out and I remember even walking in the street through neighborhoods that didn't have a sidewalk and yelling out SPEED BUMP! when I saw a speed bump because I didn't want others to trip and have to end their fun time early because of a scrapped knee. My mom would even let us at least go three houses down away from her as she waited for the stragglers (AKA Me probably because I was doing speed bump patrol lol.) Even all through Oct. We used to go out on the weekends for a drive and see all the decorated houses. We'd spend two or three hours just stopping and looking and laughing about the crazy decorations. Now if we did that we'd spend two or three hours just looking for a house with crazy decorations Seriously people how much time would it take out of your night just to put out a big bucket of candy? You wouldn't even have to open the door and realize that you were once a child going out to enjoy the simpler things in life. Same with decorations! They don't have to be big or pricey. Heck you can get together with family and make them. As an adult I enjoy passing out candy. And dressing up. I was always sad when I ran out of candy and the night wasn't over. So, I would have to rush back inside and get the next bag before the next kid(s) came. I didn't mind freezing my butt off. Now I find myself standing at the corner passing out candy because my house is the only one that would still pass out candy but families wouldn't come down very much because why walk three houses down just for one house? Anyways I wouldn't have did anything to please that one neighbor (who most likely is jealous at how awesome their house looks.) I would have said it isn't bothering anyone else but you. That's why we are suppose to have a constitution protecting rights in the US, but sadly nobody is prosecuted for violating them. I would ask (during the charges against the government officials that said to close it), Is a display like this NOT protected by free speech? Lets say I had a hanging politician under a tree, is that not also protected by free speech for Halloween? Is having an "offensive" flag not protected speech? Because if free speech only protects government ordained speech, then what's the purpose of even protecting it or stating it? Multiple court cases saying art and statues are free speech, they are a form of expression and speech. Signs/statues/art, its all free speech, and government is not allowed to say no to it.
@@jakegarrett8109 Max isn’t a real person nor based on any specific person, let alone a political figure. And the point of her being suspended in the air is that it’s referencing a TV show, it’s not done out of any sort of malice against her.
@@alexsiemers7898 My point is that EVEN when its a political figure and your disdain for them, even then it is protected speech. Many people don't think Jesus or God are real, but speech about them is still protected yes? Art doesn't need to be about any person or even idea, or reality, but its speech is it not? Statues, or in this case an exhibit, that too should be protected speech. Art doesn't need to be some super emotional significance (see the court case about the dude that had a large transformer statue on display), it can be anything. For me Halloween is a celebration, also a time to scare the daylights out of kids. My mom and I love Halloween, and we had the largest spookhouse out of anyone around. We had a creepy old barn we used on the first floor (by itself it looked creepy even in the daylight), and one room typically was the spider room hosting a lot of large spiders and cobwebs, spiders that would swing into your face with trip wires, lots of trap style setup and my classmates loved it! Only downside is that room caused some actual genetic breed selection of the local spiders, and when picking up the display for the year one time I pointed out "wow mom, when did we get this one, it looks so real!" and my mom was like "must have been on sale, it would look real if it weren't so huge", then she went over to pick it up to bag it with the rest and the thing ran off... Our theory is the giant spiders encouraged them to mate with the larger ones (may have thought the 20-30 ft large spider we had in their was a God of some sorts), because years after we had some of the largest spiders I've seen in the US, some about 1 ft in diameter if you counted their legs walking around. Also fun fact, I'm terrified of spiders... so it was one of my favorite rooms. Free speech doesn't need to be political to be protected, sometimes speech is just speech.

What I don't understand is why just her display is shut down when right next door to her is another amazingly decorated yard. She says the whole neighborhood gets involved! She shouldn't have given in and kept it up anyway.
Yeah I don’t see why she complied when there’s no law stopping her. My guess is the complaining neighbor might have some sway with an HOA or something. HOAs wield a load of power with very little checks & balances to address their often nonsensical rulings.

Welcome to the new inquisition. It's coming.
Now if we did that we'd spend two or three hours just looking for a house with crazy decorations
Seriously people how much time would it take out of your night just to put out a big bucket of candy?
I don't make money off this. Need I remind you I asked your permission before hand when I didn't even have to do that. So, take your complaint and stick it where the sun don't shine. Sadly people can't bring themselves to be that confrontational.

Nail on the head. Fool is just asking for eggs and toilet paper on their house. Everyone with a brain knows Halloween is the one holiday you have to be on your toes with the kids, especially teens.
Yeah I'm cooking eggs for my family and extended family. That's why I bought 180 eggs.
Trick or Treat hehehe
@@eagle25311 I read that as ‘cooking Eggos’ for a second there. Lol
Jealous neighbors who can't keep up
There are so many more things to worry about than a cool display in someone's front yard.
If I trick or treated, I would DEFINITELY go to this house. I love seeing Halloween decoration.
You know she gives out full size candy bars too.
There’s always that one neighbor that can’t get along with anyone
Who is the neighbor that complained? They should be exposed and clowned on for being such a Karen
Actually makes me sad that all that effort and creativity went into that scene and she had to take it down. That's gotta be really tough to have to do.
It got to stay and city officials loved it
It's an HOA neighborhood. How is it sad? And since when was RECREATING a fiction scene so creative anyway?
Move it to someone elses house.
@@SmokeMyPoll There was nothing about an HOA in the news story, so I think you are making that up. It takes creativity to create a display likd that. You sound like someone who would never create anything, only try to tear others down.
@@SmokeMyPoll it takes creativity in the way you assemble it in your place, making the props.
Less trolling, more thinking.
For those wondering how Max is staying in the air, there is a tiny string around her that is connected from the telephone pole and the house. It’s really long and hairlike so it’s invisible and can’t be seen. You’re welcome :)
THANK YOU!
But how is a little thin string holding a hold mannequin?
Its a fishing line, best thing to use
@@higuys987 some fishing lines have 80 lbs of breaking strength and the dummy is probably 10 lbs. Body full of Styrofoam peanuts.
Came looking for an explanation. Thanks!
I'm curious if the neighbor feels the same way about Christmas lights, which people line of for sometimes where I live when a house traditionally goes all out, or if that okay because "it's Christmas."
Attracting Christmas home invasions, lol
I wonder is she calls the cops on people setting off fireworks on 4th of July too.
@@victoriahiggins5458 ironically, more lights generally means you have a lesser chance of getting robbed.
Honestly its times like this that make me annoyed that we have to co exist with other people. The display is cool and the family should be allowed to keep it up

Can we get a petition to put this back up! It’s absolutely amazing

It actually IS back up!
The Plainfield town officials and Joliet police gave them tge green light to return. City Hall was part of the fan base. They loved what they are doing and thanked them so much for "helping the community and doing something good for the community.'” (October 10th, 2022)
This is why we can't have nice fun things like ever. There is always that one person that has to ruin it for everybody else.
You and reply guy CRINGE -JACK
@@jakegarrett8109 yeah theres freedom of religion what were the fathers thinking????
That's awesome, Some people are simply too narrow minded to just appreciate some one enjoying decorating for a short time during a holiday.

This is exactly what I would do if I had a house kudos to the owner. This is awesome! This season of stranger things was amazing. Wish I could see the display in person that Max floating is ingenious. Hope you the owner gets to keep in up.
I swear, those neighbors are jerks. It’s not even their yard and they are trying to tell other people what to do on THEIR property. 😡
You need a permit from the government to build a shed and permission from your HOA to plat a bush. Nobody owns their properties anymore. You just pay a boatload of money to pretend you own it.

When I was a kid, we would have gone to the Karen’s house and decorated it with TP and eggs.
And was any of those homes Halloween decorations drew any attention? Did you all live in a state that have a high crime rate certain areas like parts of Chicago, Joliet, Aurora, etc.? We're not living in 2005.
@@spankbuda7466 Criminals aren't going to case a neighborhood over holiday displays, idiot. The complaints are off the charts. Halloween decorations are a bit of a big deal in my home town and there's one family that does a huge display(with light projections and huge inflatables) in their front garden and people come from miles around to see it. The family have a donation box outside too to collect for charity and they raise quite a bit of money and a massive amount of good feeling in their neighbourhood. It's so appreciated and loved by locals that I dread to think what would happen is someone complained🤣
This family won the halloween display war and losers be escalating and playing dirty because they lost
That's one envious neighbour. We could only imagine how happy she could have been if the visitors were going for her house instead.
Not envy just too much traffic. Petty.
They should VERY publicly give the names and address of the neighbor who complained. Time for Halloween Social Justice to prevail. Halloween lives _ atter.
